Is that the one were they are straffing the horse and carts? I watched it recently at Liveleak.com do a search for 'gun camera'.
  2. Thanks Webwing, I thought you might be trying to play some sort of trick there.

Well if that's your intention then leave it as it is - a doomed mission were the enemy strength was underestimated.

I don't know if you can display messages on screen using the editor, but it would be nice to communicate to the player somehow that they should forget about the hideout. If I knew that I would have just fought it out on the hill.

  3. Webwing, really enjoying the campaign until I got to mission 5 where you have only 25 minutes to take the hill and the hideout. It just meant the needless slaughter of good men as it was just too much to ask in the brief time period considering the large number of enemies. Of course if this scenario is working as you intended then you are indeed a cruel man. smile.gif

    Otherwise excellent.

  4. I know we all have our opinions about what CMSF needs in terms of patches and features, but I'm just glad I have something that doesn't require memorising a sequence of hotkeys to optimise your base building and teching, while frantically resource gathering so you can send an endless stream of troops into the meatgrinder without any real tactical thought.

Even the latest version of Sudden Strike has turned into an unlimited reinforcement meatgrinder game.

  5. Can I add that we really need to make the time limit adjustable for quick battles, trying to take an urban area in 25 minutes does not suit the CM style of game.

I know we hope to be able to have more control over force composition in the future but for now being able to change the time would be helpful.

  6. Webwing,

Scored a total victory on the first mission after on the third attempt, scored a total victory on the second mission at the first attempt even though my Bradleys only wanted to fire HE at the T-55s which cost me a couple of them.

    **SPOILER**

The last mission I've only just started but I was dissapointed with the begining, the ambush comes out right behind you, about 20 metres away! it was just too unrealistic for my liking.

Otherwise it was a really enjoyable campaign, and I look foward to your next effort.

  7. "bodkin,

    Thanks for your feedback.

DaveDash did it and without the second Company. It's fiendishly difficult, I'll give you that!

But as you can see in this thread I only got feedback from 5 people so I'm not sure I should water it down for now."

I don't really want it watered down it is a nice change to have a mission where you are not just going through the motions towards the inevitable victory. Sometimes grinding out a tough draw can be rewarding in its own way.

  8. **posible spoiler**

I flanked either side like others but any advance on the objective is near impossible.

Both flanking platoons were pinned down when they tried to grab any strategic high ground it was suicide to send any more troops up to get a good fire position from either hill.

So the mission has bogged down into a stalemate with 30 minutes to go.

  9. I download the quick battle maps from cmmods but the only problem I have with them is that some of the time frames are too short, for the smaller maps I only have 25 minutes to take an urban environment. I don't like to rush and prefer to take my time using different tactics.

I tried to change the length of the game in the editor and it seems to save ok, but when I go to play the game I still only get 25 mins for the map. I'm changing the length in the Data section of the editor is there something else I need to do?

    Any help appreciated.

True, this is going to be even more noticable when the humvee replacement comes in to service. This game unfortunately could look dated quite quickly.

BFC have other projects to do so constantly keeping the game up to date with new equipment is unlikely to be a priority.

What's the deal with the humvee replacement anyway, they want an up armoured, mine resistant troop carrier, isn't that the Stryker? Why a whole new design?

  11. I also think the game could become outdated quite quickly.

To me the game is supposed to be the cutting edge of modern land combat, but with new technology coming in the next few years such as the Humvee replacement - which I doubt will make it into the game - it will seem strangely out of date.

I suppose you could always look at it as a representation of combat of the Iraq war period which would kind of give it an historical context to be framed within, like WW2 titles.

  12. No it's not green as in the environment it's really bright green like the green that objective areas are marked with but it looks like there is yellow on top of green or something.

I've seen this on some of the city and town maps for meeting and attack missions on a small to medium scale.
