CTD during save game loading
Michael Withstand replied to Holman's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
I had this problem too once not sure which campaign scenario was that. My solution was to load my previous in-game campaign scenario, finished it then save the next campaign in the beginning again. -

Hei Pandur that PzBattleSmall scenario of yours doesn't sound bad to me. Yea if you could pls upload it somewhere and let me(and others) have a taste on it. I already did a few QB armor battles on large and huge maps and they were fast furious battle much like you said total rampage -

Tank scenario request
Michael Withstand replied to Michael Withstand's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Hmm Qb isn't exactly what I had in mind. QB puts too many units in a too small terrain. Not a pretty sight because once battle started those units would start shooting at each other. It doesn't have to be M1 Vs T72/T62. Perhaps mainly T55 versus BMPs and BTRs T62 Vs T55, BMP and BTR T72 VS T62, T55, BMP or BTR and some building(preferably parliamentary building) shelling T72 Vs T72 of less modern version BMPs with dismounted ATGM squads ambushing a few M1s The list of possibilites is endless... I'm a fan of tanks and CMSF allow me to play them in a tank Vs tank battle like in the stock Allah's fist scenario. However there seems not many other tank Vs tank scenario available both in the stock and user created scenarios. So let me request a tank Vs tanks scenario for you the gifted scenario designers. A campaign would even be better where tanks take the main role instead of supporting one. I know CMSF is all about infantry but hey I just can't resist looking at the wonderfully drawn, animated and working suspension tanks. Got to admit the tanks 3D is beautiful...until you see them explode lol typical of battlefron't CM series

How best to use scouts?
Michael Withstand replied to G B Scurlock's topic in CMSF Strategy and Tactics Forum
And oh don't scout with humvee unless it is a meeting engagement. In ameerting engagement you may use humvee to speed your scout to his destination but dismount and go away from the humvee as the humvee is large and would likely to attract enemy attention i.e, dismount at a discreet location then walk to the front line. -
How best to use scouts?
Michael Withstand replied to G B Scurlock's topic in CMSF Strategy and Tactics Forum
Don't let your scout go out alone without support. If you need your scout to scout ahead make sure that he'll get the firepower needed quickly to back him up when coming under fire. As fire support you may use the stryker or other squad. If you feel that there's some buildings in which the enemy is hiding you may aswell oder your armor to give covering fire while your scout move to his safety. If this is not possible use 'hunt' only so that he'll stop when spotting enemy. And once under fire order him to hide. If the firing doesn't cease, crawl away from that spot. Just remember that your scout doesn't have much firepower so don't order or let him to try to take out any enemy. Instead order him to hide to give information on enemy movement and to order for artillery or air support(spotting). Scout is ver good indeed in hiding as it only consists of 1 or 2 soldier. If you want to cout ahead with your ordinary squad make sure you use the split team order. Fewer number of men is better for scouting. And good luck -
How to create a breach on the wall?
Michael Withstand replied to Michael Withstand's topic in CMSF Strategy and Tactics Forum
I see so it's different from what the manual says grrrr. I tried blasting the wall. Sometimes it work sometimes the tanks/armors are just blasting the ground near the wall. Sigh. It's rather frustating. I believe that in RL they do breach walls... -
Since my tanks and other armor can't get through walls by driving through them, what do you do to create a breach on the walls. I tried by targeting the wall but the armors just shot away the ground near the wall. Also is there false identification featured in-game? I know there's the generic visual id but rather than boxy tanks it seems that they have replaced that with the most numerous tanks available to each side. So the generic tank id for the syrians would show a T-62(which version)? while the generic visual id for US tanks would me M1(Which version)?

T-55 and T-62 vs Abrams M1A2
Michael Withstand replied to Juergen2SSDR's topic in CMSF Strategy and Tactics Forum
They are shy. It's supposed to be a secret -
Hei Ryan you got a point. My fps only improved considerably in the largest maps while in smaller dense maps I still see no significant improvement over 1.03 or previous versions. Ranging between 15 and 30s with an average of lower 20s. Perhaps the new patch only improve performance on the largest maps? On Allah's fist or other large maps I'm getting huge improvement on my fps. But looking close down(zoomed in) to eye level slows the fps to the typical lower 20s.

Bradleys dont Use AP Ammo and no TOW2
Michael Withstand replied to Taki's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Your point being? Having your M1s knocked out is by no means impossible. The M1s just have better odds in a duel situation, since it usually takes more hits for a T-72 to knock out an M1 than the other way around. Anybody with experience from professional simulators can tell you that... Cheers Olle </font> -
1.04 Gameplay/Bug Feedback
Michael Withstand replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Oh yea tanks should be able to demolish walls and even buildings by going past it. It's kind of funny when tanks have to create a breach on the perimeter wall by firing their main gun before proceeding. [ October 08, 2007, 01:04 AM: Message edited by: Michael Withstand ] -

T-55 are stabilised in one axis(elevation only instead of traverse and elevation)) as far as I know -
1.04 Gameplay/Bug Feedback
Michael Withstand replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Well I have a suggestion Modern tank turrets are stabilized in two axis. That means that whatever the hull is facing r when moving and rotating the gun will always point to the target(though there's limit to the stabilization angles). I noticed that none of the Syrian T72 tanks are modeled with stabilization capability in game. Second pathfinding still needs some improvement especially in tight urban area where the road is somewhat blocked by other vehicles. Just my 2 cents -

First Impressions of 1.04

You know though mildly disappointed with CMSF performance prior patch 1.04 I've always thought that CMSF holds great potential. Now after patch 1.04 that potential has been realized. Thank you Battlefront. Very impressive support . I have had my bad experiences with SHIV which I've stopped playing altogether after merely weeks and one or two patches. That game did hold promises but wasn't salvageable from the beginning . I'm glad this isn't the case with CMSF .
