Here's a link to a small publisher which has focused on Market Garden: http://www.autumngale.com/

Their first book, "Autumn Gale" is a phenomenally detailed account of the Jagdpanther unit operating around the Market Garden area, as well as all the rest of the battle and units involved. Great maps, great detail, great writing style. I can't give it enough superlatives.

Their second book, "Kampfgruppe Walther" just came out last week. It's as good as the first.

Both books are amazingly detailed while simultaneously being able to keep the overall battle narrative flowing.

Yes, they are West not Ost, but they are on par with LHB for quality...or LHB is on par with them. ;)

    Ken

Looks really interesting Ken. Thanks for the tip, to bad Autumn Gale is sold out (now going for hundreds of euros on the secondhand market). Will have to get my hands on Kg Walther.

  3. Im using a FO team, spotting trough a Orlan-10, so no direct LOS, but I have a clear infantry contact for several turns. I try do target a Kitolov-2M precisions strike on this infantry unit. Times passes by, the shell is fired, but I doesn't impact on the map or off the map edge. What happened? Do I need to have the FO in direct LOS with his laser designator to guide the precision strike on target? Strange though that the shell was expended.

I used the same FO team, with the Orlan-10 to guide in some 82mm mortar fire on the same target. It took very many spotting rounds before the mission started and it was a bit off target. I was expecting to get better results than above (first time ever Im calling in arty via UAV LOS though so maybe something strange happening in this instance).

Any thoughts? What is your general experience calling in arty via UAV LOS?

I cannot rate his books highly enough. If you haven't gone to Leaping Horseman Books (Jason Mark's site), do yourself a favor: do it...with your credit card ready to go. This sale is a great opportunity. (The email I received stated it was for US sales. I'm not sure if the discount applies anywhere else.)

There is also a UK code so applies to UK as well.

And also for the rest of Europe according to the email I got. And I couldn't agree more on the rating of the books.

  5. Maybe BF could do a kickstarter for a CMSF update if that would make it more viable. It might not be realistic to have all the content (scenarios & campaigns) updated as that would be a huge amount of work. But just a little content would make it worth while for me. Just the editor is worth its weight in gold.

Thanks for the recommendation @Fizou I have devoured half the book over the weekend! It is truly magnificient.

Not surprised you enjoyed it. Id recommend most of the books from LHB (cant on the once I haven't read yet but sure they are gems as well). Looking forward to Marks next project, Stalingrad: Graveyard of the Panzers.

I think it is an issue with his English editor - I had a very nice exchange with a very nice (also Swedish) guy on the CMFB forums about his Bulge book. His books covering the air war on the Eastern Front are classics - @LukeFF mentioned them on this very same thread.

    Thanks for the tip BG.

Regarding Leaping Horseman Books, I am looking with merry eyes this one

does anybody have it? Is it as good as it seems?

I own it. Great book, and a must buy if you ask me.

I saw the reviews on Amazon and I got the feeling that it would be as much of a mixed bag as his book on the Ardennes was. Also, that typographical errors are reported for a hardcover edition isn't precisely awesome (given that I got a fair bit of those on the Kindle version of the Ardennes book).

To bad to hear that. I was quite excitet to find a good, detailed ww2 author from Sweden. I'll read the Barbarossa book and see if its quite as bad with the typos in Swedish.

Looking forward to the pair of books by C. J. Dick "From Victory to Stalemate" & "From Defeat to Victory", as well. Glantz's Battle for Byelorrusia also looks quite good.

Interesting, will have to check them out as well.

I've bought it, but haven't read it yet. As can be expected from this publisher it is superb. Great info, excellent maps. Pricy but worth it.

I bought it too, great book. Im waiting for Iron Cross Brigade from LHB as well (there is still a pre publication offer), "Stalingrad, Kursk and Bobruisk are names synonymous with untold suffering and death, and the men of Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 244 fought at each of them."  Looking forward to it.

Im also wondering if anyone has read Christer Bergströms new book Operation Barbarossa 1941: Hitler against Stalin?
