    ToW v2

I guess/ hope is an effort to unite the games. And thats good news to all off us.
  3. "still waiting after all this years" in Lusitania
  4. Ins´t buggy since the 1.4 patch. Its like Tow on crack, a lot faster, with 10% of the engajement distances. Not aimed at realism do. If you put TOW on one end and Company of Heroes on the other, you will Find Faces of war in the midle.
  5. Exact, The focus should be on setting your unit behaviour. Not micromage shoot/ wait/ prone/... but instead ambush/ defend/ hold ground or not... So that you don´t need to be omnipotent. So far only played the Demo, and I didn´t use pause at all, the game is already build towards a more relaxed play just needs some tweaking balancing - bushs / trees and crawling more cover los/ lof efective- and a few more options to the squads/ tanks behaviour.
  6. still awaiting on snail mail to do his work..
  7. From what I read Multiplayer, is unplayable at the moment, I ´m still waiting on the mail delivery, but really liked the pace of the game from the Demo. Most of the complains i read seem to come from gamers that don´t know how to use the camera/ interface or where expecting a different game. Tow as flaws, specially in the way it (don't) informs the player about Wat's happening. Where are my teams?/ are they in cover?/ scripted missions.. but also an indistinct personality you really have to understand it and enter the pace. So bottom line is that we need a working MP simple because then those o understand the game will wipe the floor with those who don´t and then maybe..they will start thinking.. " problem is me not the game..hum" Or i´m wrong and tactics/ don´t really work!.. and the game really needs a major fix? Anyway MP seems to me the only way to resolve this issue. So Dev's look in to it asap
  8. Got that wright! CC6 is the future. For aditionam information on CC http://www.closecombat.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=90 Meantime lets hope future improvoments can elevate Tow to CC stantards, specialy on strategical and MP gameplay
  9. Press the midle mouse button (and kep it pressed) and you get a "free movecamera" PS: The camera is fine, If your having problems with getting use to it ask yourself how many rts games do you usualy play? Maybe the learning curve its just a bit stepper ... dont blame the game. Tips (for me): I found useful/ more natural to reverse the scroll for zooming. (in options) Use the "enter key" to jump in to the action Use the cursor key to pan quickier. Set the minimun and maximun distance for the camera at the highest. (in options)
  10. Are you refering to the "Last frontier" Demo mission Anyway it is, choose the jagtiger and the panther and one AT gun from the units avaiable. Position them on your side of the river to the right so they can´t be target by enemy until the enemy tanks reach the bridge area. (they are covered by the small hill) Leave the AT and Jag tiger on "hold Position" in this position they will get a first shoot at the side and rear of any enemy tank. move your panther along the train tracks and park it on the far side (on some bush) facing the town, so it can target the rear of the enemy tanks when they move to flank you. And thats it! use your infantry mainly as spotters.. they will dye anyway... [ April 22, 2007, 08:33 AM: Message edited by: TTorpedo ]
  11. Yers you´r right The maps are well made filled with features but the soldiers dont seem to know it an the gameplay "flatens" the map like you pointed Crazylegsmurphy. Anyway not enouf to ruin the good points of the game .. So i´m going with it, hoppfuly the patsh/ teweakes will make it better and better. A tactical map is a must to. But if not you should at list In Mp play more than one map in sequence. Meaning that you can retreat to other maps and use your points to improce skils.. Like Sfox asked is there a " run for your lifes button" PS: Maybe with the improving skils of your soldier they might learn how to conceal/ survive better? hope so.
  12. My impressions (based on the demo)... and sugestions After playing around with the demo, I will defently buy the game! There are some glitches but the game kind of grows on you. You have to give it some time to get used to. What i miss and think must be fixed: Add Ambush mode. . This is really important to prevent this game from becoming a tank rush because there s no place to hide your infantry and AT guns. A well hidden AT gum can be devastating, so the enemy has to use infantry to probe in front of the armor. As it his tanks can pick AT guns rely easy. and infantrey is used only for spoting The fortified locations are deaf traps., placing AT guns or teams in bush's high grass or tree areas does.t seem to provide cover or any concealment!! This needs fix pronto. I manage to beat the demo mission, with a couple of Jtigers, the only place the AT guns where of some use was behind the hill on the right side of the bridge. so that they could fire at targets at 100 mt. ( an obvious location for a CC player). Also I miss some tabs to keep track of your teams, a spend a lot of time looking for them ( plus, with the tabs you can also add icons in top indicating if they are under fire panicking or what ever) the scroll log cannot substitute this) this is rely a standard in most rts so just rip off other game! (like CC or the total war series) Prevent soldiers to fire at targets they cannot arm. I dont see any reasom to soldier firing is pistol to a tank unleasse he is panicking.. he shouls dash for cover and not atrack atencion on him. Camera Tips that work for me: Invert the camera scroll!; Use the "enter" to go in soldiers level view, "enter" again to deselect and use the arrow keys to back a Little and move around so you can get focus on the action more quickly
  13. I found Crazy "review" well written and reflecting important points. And certainly helpful to the gamers and Dev's. The following bashing around i do not. When i play Faces of War ( better than Coh on graphics & physic's in my opinion),... i get the same Uauuu feeling.. they should make a Close Combat with this engine, and yes I still play Close Combat. And Helpfully i will play ToW to. I to work on the creative department and we can´t stop dreaming. Can´t stop to dream a realistic game with teams moving from cover to cover, cleaning house to house on their one, AT guns that are actually concealed in a bush..and fully destructible terrain features, providing not candy eye but a full assortment of tactic opportunity's. While i wait for this game i´m Happy to play Close Combat a 10 year old engine and Fow, 1 year old, and now ToW, 5 years? stil evaluating. It all bootons down to gameplay. Lukly for us there are companys that still try to push the envelope on this litle corner of the market By the way i could´t play Coh for more than a few hours its a great game on his on corner, but not may cup of tea, and frankly does not had nothing to the genre. An easy trick when your drawing is to flip the drawing, suddenly all the "mistakes" pop out. They where always there you just can´t see it when you spend a lot of time working on it. like wise newcomers can get used to the little Flaws on the other way Devs can learn a lot from the fresh look they provide.
  14. As posted before: - Use of craters, foxholes, trees etc. for cover and concealment - Use of smoke shells and smoke screens - Leave the remnants of trees etc. on the battlefield after they where knocked down - The ability to deploy mines in the Deployment Phase And the most importante a strategic map! (...) a grand strategy element: moving large formations around on a map in turn based fashion (maybe simultaneous execution) and then jumping into the action in rts mode when formations meet, with an enphasis on supply (...) by ironpants That would be great, but If nothing else "(...)A real linked campaign throughout the war, or at least that you can push the enemy to the edge of the map (or be pushed) and then continuing the new map at this point (as in the Combat Mission Operations or the Close Combat Series Maps). As far as it concerns me I would say that this is most important, if you have a Role-Playing Game skill system. Why should I pay attention to my troops skills, if a campaign only consists of 5 missions? (...)" by Delavega. But even a board as simple as chekears would be a nice addition. PS: Personaly i don´t understand this hype around the 88. So please Devs give them the 88 so we can all give it a rest.
  15. I liked the movie. Just found it a bit misleading. But i guess its ok for a in-game trailer.
  16. I to have great expectations about this game, i guess as anyone else around here, or we would´t bother to post at all. More important we all represent a bit of a rather small corner of the game market. Being pleased to have a game "made for us" doens´t automatically set it above any criticism. In the end is gamers expectation and feedback that will push the game/ series? forward 6 years development as is costs, better late than never and they are finally over.. no time to change anything just to wait..Hope to see you all soon on the fields (hopefully first than you see me
  17. Hi all. I ´ve been following the game for just a couple of months. I seem to be shaping to be the next "thing" for strategy fans, Nevertheless i´m waiting for the demo on this one. No smoke, the fuss around cover model and linear game play..well i still think it will be a blast! One thing puzzles me is Wy did´t 1C pick the GEM engine instead of this IL2 ? They, 1C, worked with Bestway (GEM dev) on Faces of War . Maybe to late... well not for TOW2 In case you´r wonder Wat's this GEM check FOW, looks better than COH, fully destructible buildings that provides cover after and before..failing trees that stay on ground, you can enter buildings all the models and effects are done! they just need a realistic approach on gameplay And no i´m not a Candy eye dependent i still play Close Combat.. but it shore makes you wonder I sincerely hope the gameplay on this TOW makes one forget about graphics on the spot! (when i play CC it takes me a map to forget about the engine limitations)
