  1. Whos to say because the map is big there are not plenty of close combat scraps ? At least this way manouvre is possible. Maybe you can try Company of Heroes, thats very close quaters. Personaly, apart from a few lacking features that will be remedied in future add-ons, i think ToW is looking like the first realistic real time strategy simulation of WW2. Steve..
  2. relesed in Russia 20th Oct. Translated version will take longer to reach foriegn shores. You can smuggle almost anything you need out of Russia....Vodka....Women....Nukes....whatever you need,PC games take longer Keep up the gring BFC, less play and more translating please
  3. If translation is three weeks on and 20th Oct is ru release, even if they finish this week does that mean Oct 20+3 weeks minimum.....Oh man it would suck if medieval total war II and ToW released at same time, id not have enough hours in my day Keep up the grind beta testers, im sure its hard work
  4. For me an all time great was the demo for Battleground Ardennes. I did not own a pc and only got on my dads once a week. Played the one mission to death and loved avery minute till i finaly bought it shortly after buying my dads PC. Played PC wargames ever since. (Although the battle for Veleki Luki came first on an amiga ) steve
  5. I suppose its an RTS and comes with its limitations. Having full control over all your units is hardly going to give the feel of battlefield command. Even at this scale company sized units would recieve orders to which they would attempt to complete. Idealy units would be grouped and given group orders with their own CO ordering individual squads/tanks around themselves to attack/defend map points etc. This only works if the AI is top notch of course. I look forward to the demo/game, this will answer many questions, the rest is simply speculative. Steve.
  6. Is it right to use TS for in game decision making ? How often could an attack not be halted or vital troops moved due to no radio contact. Then theres chain of command, not often in the allied armies did infantry have direct link to armour. On the other hand it would be fun. I think id prefer a message sending system within game with no guarantee of message receipt.
  7. A pause button for games that require micro management is probably sensible. I'd like to see no pause and good ai combat groups that can be given orders via their own CO. Id say it would be good also if no micro managing was alowed and all your orders went to a group CO. Therefore you would be the force leader and not a man who can influence every unit by direct control. I think this way you would feel like a commander giving attack/defend objectives with varying levels of agression, seeing how well they progress and aiding with other groups or arty etc but never having the hand of god to say Nooo! i want that ATG 2 feet to the left ! Unless of course you were physicaly present in that specific area with your command group. Steve
  8. rune, No insult taken, none given. Now get back to work after i smile Steve
  9. My apologies rune, i had not invisaged my question becoming a debate that would waste development time. Steve
  10. to quote moon.."Yes, we're falling a little behind schedule on the demo due to the amount of changes and testing. Early September? Fingers crossed." Is this the kind of information you guys dont post rune ? never mind, dont answer id sooner have the demo faster than a response. Just remember its a forum, a place to discuss and find out. If you dont want people asking when a demo is out, dont announce a demo. Thanks for all your teams efforts. Steve
  11. Its crazy Gunnersman, good info creates hype, hype equals sales. No info eventually leads to no interest. I know its a bit harsh saying theres no info here as there is, but every fan of this game waits on the demo and info for that is next to nil except there will be one. It takes but a moment to inform the masses on progress. Steve
  12. Thanks for the response with no info, a little more meat would of been nice, maybe a "its going well" or " its nearing completion" or even a " were a little way off yet" anything basically to give an impretion on how your labours are going. Ta, Steve.
  13. Seems to be a lack of dev response of late either through being very busy or playing too much ToW Could any dev please give an indication of demo progress as speculation is rife on the forums and id love to know which days to book off work. This however is not a plea for the demo sooner, just a small intel recce Thanks Steve..
  14. Devs are probably doing one of 3 things 1) laughing at all waiting for the demo that not one of them said would be here today but rumour mongers did. 2) They love their own demo so much they cant stop playing it to upload it. 3) Something is broke and they dont know what and are so busy trying to figure it out they are not posting any solid info on the forum. Speculative of course
  15. I would hope with editing abilities maybe not in first release but later addon at least it would be possible for people to create russian/polish games, wether this could be put in to a campaign series you would need the devs to tell you. "Game is made by Russian game company so certain limitations are in place." Did it make a difference in IL-2 ? I dont recall.
  16. Pre purchased air support arriving when it arrives a la CMXX would probably work better. The idea that they drop bombs re arm and return like in one of the videos, is ridiculous given the short time frame of an engagement. Do they even return for a 3rd bomb run in the polish AAR over at simHQ. Thats 3 bomb runs in a 38 minute game. I believe it was one of the developers that said they rearm and return if flak does not get them in the 200mb+ video. I hope air support is a buyable option and not scripted. For me personally, its wining on the ground that will make this game for me, not having Herman Georing do it for me.
  17. First demo i played on pc was Talonsofts Battleground ardennes some dozen or so years ago. Got me into the whole strategy game on pc genre. Probably why im here now waiting for this demo to be released. I remember CMBO demo, must have played it some 40 odd times before i got my CMBO copy. Hope ToW Demo will be just as good to play over and over while we wait on GOLD release.
  18. I merely stated that i hope it wont be a frantic clickfest, i never said it was, i never said thats how the finished game will play, only that it looked pretty frantic in the video. To get a response which contains expletives is appauling and a sign that the speaker really had nothing constructive to add at all. If a persons opinion is not wanted, then there would not be a forum. Constructive criticism often aids towards a better end product after all.
  19. Just watched the video, im sure someone posted before that this game would not be a click fest. Sure did look hectic to me. I know we can pause and give orders but that just drops the imersion. I really hope this games pace is not frantic as the german mission looked all the time or it will be pretty, but just another RTS!
  20. Just a small point, What about smoke pots on tanks etc, did they not pop smoke and reverse when they did not like what was shooting at them. Is smoke considered for a future addon ? Quote "What if that means there will be a delay in game release?" Id take the game as soon as i can and hope features like an editor, enterable buildings and of course smoke come later. BTW any eta on the demo yet ? Steve
  21. Its good that knocking stuff down carries a risk of immobilization. Its a shame the more dense woodland is not modelled, cant say ive seen too many shots of tanks leaving a trail of knocked over trees behind. I only need to look out of my window and see that some trees near me are easily some 80' tall and maybe 30' wide (I live residential not in a wood) knock a few over and you would have a logistical nightmare with no throughfare wether in a tank or would be slow and dangerous for foot sloggers, climbing through all the branches. How often was a road blocked in the ardennes 44 by demo charge to the base of a tree. Often causing serious delays to the advance of armour on tight roads. While not all trees are big and many would topple to a tank no doubt, some are big and i doubt a KingTiger could budge one. Looking forward to the demo, i believe it will answer many a forum goers questions. Then create a whole lot more Steve
  22. Hi, In the trailer for the game you see a sherman run down a tree with what seems little effort. The tree not being exactly small, i would of thought even this a little hard for a tank. Was this early game engine or will tanks be able to carve paths through trees ? Steve
  23. Ok, thanks man. Would hate to miss out on this game. Steve
  24. The interview states around the 3ghz mark for processor. Im not a pc wiz and have athlon dual core 4800, will that be enough as the game probably does not support dual core usage. Steve
  25. Just a small query, if tommy jumps in jerry's tank, will tommy number 2 rolling over the ridge in his cromwell attack the jerry tank as he did not see it recrewed by a tommy or in that moment of madness when tommy jumped in and someone told his co who told his hq who sent radio word to cromwell hq who told his tanker that its not jerry no more ? As for a multiplayer exploit, cant 2 men just agree not to do it ? Steve
