  1. Hey, Thanks for that info artie, will favourite the page Markus you cant really of believed that BFC would have left MP in such a poor state can you ? I for one while loving single player also like to dable in MP and put my average skills to the test Steve..
  2. Hi, pete, Nice to see you still around. If ToW MP turns out to be ok, hope you will chalk me down for a game. I seem to remember our games being close run things Infact, i wonder if anyone is planning a ladder or leugue for ToW, now that would be interesting. All the best, Steve..
  3. hey scipio, I believe they can enter pill boxes as i recall a thread way back that said something along the lines of "why not make all buildings a kind of pillbox with lower defense values so we can enter buildings" Im not 100% on this but a search may bring up the thread. I may be way off on this one but, i played my first ever ladder games for CM against a chap called Scipio. Would you be that same "pete" ? I think i used the name reef back in those days. Steve..
  4. Multiplayer maps franz. And im sure over time more will come, have BFC ever let you down before ? Steve..
  5. Quote "you believe ever crap they tell you untill u have given them their money and u start crying for patches...." No i read reviews on release and if it does well i buy it, i dont rant and rave about a game that is not released. The reason its taking so long to get our hands on it is because BFC said the russian release needed more work before they thought it would be ready for a west release. So as it is they agree with you in some respect and are doing what they can to make a good product. Have patience and review before you buy.. Steve.
  6. I was under the impression they know multiplayer is bugged and is being fixed. Divide the community ? I was under the impression what is fixed for the west release is also patched into the east version. I hate when people rant without reading a little first, why do you think its taking so much longer before west release? Because they are fixing it. TBH most games these days disapoint on release with a few exceptions, i sometimes wonder is it worth playing games released 6 months ago, they are patched and cheaper Steve
  7. Hello, I know its a bit late but 7-zip will open .rar files and its free. First time ive looked at these movies, they really do give a great sense of the engagement distance. God i hope you guys eventually put an editor in this game, even if its a complex one, nothing worse than a great game engine with low replay value. Its usually the modding community that keeps games such as these popular for a long time after release. I for one love creating scnarios for others. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the january release, haha! Steve.
  8. Hey rune, Sorry for not using the search, extremely selective reading here as most topics drift so far off topic and usually culminate in a pointless argument. Hope you all had a good holiday season over there and not to much beta playing.....er testing i mean Steve
  9. Hey, Not posted here in a long while simply because its kinda static or dead whatever you like. I do check to see any developments but not much to see. I also am a fan of EU III which has just been released. The forums there are buzzing with activity due to an incredible amount of information being given to us by the devs as its always been there. The hype for the game and preorders was high, no doubt from having a great community and plenty of info. After all what is a forum ? A place where we can come to glean information and discuss to our hearts content. Whats to discuss if there is no information ? So why have a forum ? I know this is a harsh point as in the my early days here info was regular, sadly not no more. Im happy BFC are putting in the extra hours on this product. I look forward to any WWII game that has realism. Its a shame most of runes posts who has no time to post us info has time to post to tell us not to ask for posts Keep up the good work. Steve.
  10. michael, your obviously a man with some inteligence.....quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by stone75: I would imagine he chose his name for a unit he admired in combat. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He was in combat with the Leibstandarte? And admired them for it? Sounds twisted. He was in combat with them ???? i only meant he maybe read about them, christ man do you find the smallest mistakes in peoples grammer and flame them ?? is that what makes you tick ? sad. I try on here to make topics that will draw useful comments but all too often they just end up a flaming mess. I think ill take my leave and wish BFC all the best, because your forum has seriously gone down the pan. Nice to have talked with some of you, pity the few spoil for the many. Steve
  11. Were in a forum for a game which portrays battlefields in WW2. I would imagine he chose his name for a unit he admired in combat. I dont see a problem. Might as well just call all germans evil, some were nazis in WW2 you know.
  12. Personally imo i have no problem with the nickname. They were an elite fighting unit so is only like myself calling my nick 1st guards division. Maybe they commited some battlefield atrocities but so did every other nation its just we won so you dont get them dragged into the public eye. If your refering to the title SS, the SS also had lemonade factories. Not all SS was evil, a big organization with many many branches. But like i say this is just My Opinion. Steve
  13. Hey, Thanks for the blog moon, was a good read. Good to hear you chaps are putting plenty of effort in to get our release up to scratch. Would love to here about progress on the mortars you mention. Will they be in initial release or to follow after ? AT least might silence a few of the moaners Steve..
  14. I too was around in the beginings of CM with the demo to CM overwhelming me. I also spent time away from forums and often lost or forgot my username when changing to new PC,s etc. Why do so many posts get higjacked with pointless remarks and flames around here. No wonder the forums are quiet....too many smartarses! BFC should do something about it but they are busy, why should the few, stop people wanting to be a part of a game comunity to support a game where constructive criticism helps progress. Feels more like a FPS chatroom sometimes.
  15. Hey Dez, Russian version is out and ours is being translated and localized. They say it will be out when its ready and thats about it. Some other sites report November or late 2006 at least. So maybe your arrival to the forum so late in the hour is maybe a good thing as the drivel some put out is quite a bore Welcome anyway, may your wait be not so long as others here....or maybe you will become as they and thats not pretty Steve
  16. Hey all, Sorry steve if i made it sound like comparing CM and ToW. Not my intention, its just for a good thinking ww2 game with nice 3D Gfx CM is all i consider worth playing. This being said i hoped ToW would give me an alternative as CM is showing its age. To be honest, ToW is more a follow on from the Close Combat series than anything else IMO. To Megakill, Links to russian reviews would be great when they come along thanks. Also like i posted above, forums rarely shout the praises of a game. The people that would are usually too busy playing and tend to head to the forums when a problem arrises. Its all too easy to get pulled down by the negative forum posts, which i addmit happens to me too. I think its made worse though when information about progress is sparce to say the least. To Kecks, at least put your points in english on this english forum so we can flame you in english some more Steve
  17. Kecks, BFC has requested additions by 1C for the euro release. If this means additional content or simply scenarios i know not. Steve
  18. To be honest there are some thinking they have wasted their money, some not going to buy at all and only a few actually defending posts speaking ill of the game. Unless BFC are working some magic and maybe enlighten us with whats actually improved over the russian version, i may even consider sticking with CMAK and other strategic level games for my fix of WWII. I would however love to see a translated russian magazine review of the game. will keep looking Steve
  19. Seems they have a few problems with the game but its hard to find a forum that has just praise these days. Some are the obvious tech difficulties. It seems some feel its a good tank V tank sim which to be honest, no enterable buildings and low inf numbers, was never going make inf that big a role. I think the general feel is it will be good when its finished, who knows maybe thats what BFC are doing, one can only hope. Shall look some more see if i cant find some positive posts. Big thanks too Markus, babelfish is a jem. Steve
  20. Just wondering if any Anglo/Rus ToW player who maybe crosses forums would do his own little review of the game. If no such person exsists maybe a Dev could get somone to post an invite to review here. Would be interesting to see a non Devs opinion of the game and seeing as cant read russian is about the only way i know. Steve
  21. Id say the battle of kursk judging by the mix of armour. Looks like the dinner bell has just rang and they all bailed and legged it to the mess hall in the distance to get up front in the queue for the chance of seconds.. Steve
  22. Hey all, Just been mooching over the russian site and seems to have a wealth more info than our own. Some nice screens ive not seen before too. Interesting they have a list of battles in game which include.. 13 for Germany 39-45 12 for Russia 41-45 3 for Poland 1939 5 for france 1940 10 for allies 44-45 Of course its possible our lads are adding others to the game. 3 Battles does seem rather short to be a campaign, unlucky if you love the Poles i guess. For any who dont know the russian site its.... http://ww2.games.1c.ru/ then look at the box art for game name in russian and look for the link. Just makes me want the game that little bit more but nevermind, ill have Medieval Total War 2 shortly and that will keep me busy till the new year for sure. Hope this helps somone.. Steve
  23. Thanks for the response rune, just had a nice chinese and pop, have a response too Shame about the campaigns, can only hope sales are huge and user made campaigns will be a feature of a future release. It really does add to the longevity of a title. Thanks again, Steve.
  24. Hey, Ive heard that there will be a way to edit scenarios but not an editor per se. I was wondering if campaigns will be able to be created by the user like the ops in CM. If not in release is it a possiblity at least for future releases. I find games with editors like these to last way longer than them without on my HD. Also is experience scaled in the campaigns ? What i mean by this is...When playing the french campaign in 5 battles for example over a few months in realtime. Will they gain the same experince per battle as a unit who fights 10 battles as Germans but covers the entire war. My numbers of course are mere examples. Personally if campaign editing is allowed, i prefer to create campaigns that cover maybe a months fighting rather than the whole war but if no scalability in XP it would not be good having units go from Raw to Elite in a month. In any case it may be that creating said campigns is the developers privilage in which case most of what i wrote is not worth a bean, in which case sorry to all. Really looking forward to a couple of translated Russian reviews, to see if its all been worth the wait Steve
