Has anyone tried to run the 1.20 demo with the latest Catalyst drivers? It sure would be nice to upgrade my drivers beyond 9.3 and not have them crash CMSF.

I quite like this idea, and it sounds simpler than most of the ideas I like. So either its outstanding or I'm thinking about it wrong.
+1, Seconded

Casualties which aren't given Buddy Aid have a fairly good chance of becoming KIA, which in turn lowers your score. If you provide Buddy Aid there chances of that happening are decreased, thus having the soldier be registered as a WIA instead. Since WIAs are "worth" more to the victory conditions, you in effect have the ability to influence your score higher through direct action.
Do soldiers flagged at WIA at the end of a campaign mission have the chance to return in a later mission?

Will the Germans finally get the G41 and G43 rifles? I know they aren't in CMBB, but I don't know about CMAK.

This thread won't have any real zest to it until Kettler bestows his unique perspective.
Is he still a member of that wacko "Earth Sensitives" (or whatever it's called) group?
EDIT: yep! http://earthboppin.net/talkshop/feelers/

I wonder if they were the inspiration for the US Army's "PM" series of cartoon maintenance comics that were published in the 50's, 60's and 70's - and may still be, for all I know.
Yep, they're still in print.

Arn't those units insurgents? I think the civilian levels are high. Thats how I took it anyway - a crowd of people milling around the airbase who have insurgents within them.
It's an abandoned airbase, and the infantry are Special Forces.
-
Is this something being considered for future releases? I find the vehicle models in CMSF to be excellent, but it's a bit of a disconnect to see a knocked-out vehicle (especially one hit by a tank or RPG round) sitting there like a museum piece.
-
Not anything I've heard of. Do you have a save file?
Sadly, I deleted it. It was the second-to-last mission in the TF Thunder campaign.

I noticed an odd thing with a Bradley the other day: the gunner kept rotating the turret back and forth along a ~10 degree axis after I had given it a Target command. The 25mm gun was not out of ammo and had not suffered any damage. The only way I was able to stop the problem (and get the Bradley to fire on a new target) was to bail out the crew and then order them back into the unit.
Known bug, and if so, is it on the 1.20 fix list?
-
Not a Game bug. This is a scen designer error. If it's QB then it's most likely mine.
It's from the "Heads Up" mission in the TF Thunder campaign. Not a big deal, but I still found it to be pretty funny. I remember seeing those AC units littered all over the place in Iraq.
Heck, ever heard of a bomb shelter in Iraq complete with air conditioning? Yep, we had one of those:
-
Air conditioning unit out in the middle of a field?
-
All fixed now There are still a few Corporals kicking around here and there, but everybody else who is an E-4 is now a Specialist.
Steve
Excellent! Thanks.

So I guess I'm the only one who got a laugh out of that?
You can add me to the list. I saw my share of vile and nasty things while over there, so I can see the humor in Clavicula's story.

Besides the light cavalry units, what other Army units are covered by the IBCT formation?
-10th Mountain?
-82nd Airborne?
-101st Airborne?
-The various National Guard light infantry units?

You guys with your fancy-schmancy doors! We had rubber canvas doors!
Oh, we had our rubber canvas doors as well!
-
Lol, we don't need them if they have anything heavier than 10mm salvaged scrap metal welded to the floor and jammed into the doorway.
I see your salvaged scrap metal and raise you my sandbags latched to the hood with a tie-down!
Can't believe I rode up into Iraq in a similarly-equipped deathtrap... We also had Mk19-equipped M915s and hummers.
And yep, we rode up into Iraq with shield-less gun mounts as well.
-
Hope that helps
Kind of. I see E-4s fairly often (usually in conjunction with a weapons team), but it's always been a Corporal, not a Specialist. Does the game display both ranks or just the CPL one? In my 6 years in the Army, I could probably count on one hand the number of CPLs I encountered. SPCs, on the other hand, were a totally different story. In my unit alone that deployed to Iraq, all but maybe 4-5 of the junior enlisted soldiers were SPCs. Corporals just aren't all that common any more in the Army.
EDIT: I just had another look at my old records. At the end of our deployment, we had 35 junior-enlisted soldiers in my company at the end of our tour. Of those, 23 were SPCs, 1 was an E-1 Private (a screw-up who could never stay above E-2 ), 1 an E-2 Private, and the rest PFCs. IMO, having just one E-4 in a Stryker Rifle squad is a bit too low.
-
Other than Corporals, I've never seen any Spec-4s in the game. It seems like almost all Army vehicles outside of the headquarters and XO units consist of either an E-3 or E-2 "in command." Oversight or design decision? The E-4 Mafia wants to know!

Bradleys: will they finally use their 7.62mm MG when given a Target Light command?
-
Unless you're very new to Shock Force, by now you should have become accustomed to the 'new' interface. The customisable hotkeys and Space Bar menu have improved the interface as well so it's quite possible to issue commands to a number of units quickly in RT without pausing.
Nice, I didn't even know about the Space Bar feature! Was that something added in a patch? I just tested it out and found it to be a very convenient feature.
-
FWIW, I also had this problem with the 9.4 drivers on XP (HD 4870 video card). Reverting back to the 9.3 drivers fixed the problem.
-
Is the incoming 50 cal? If so, the behavior might be somewhat justified. Especially if the Stryker crew is unable to spot the machine gun and respond. I'd probably pop smoke too in their situation, rather than sit there idly and let it damage and destroy important equipment.
Yes, it's 12.7mm fire, from DShKM machine guns. The thing is that it's such light fire from so far away, and no damage is being done to any of the vehicle's systems. Makes me wonder if indeed the AI thinks it's heavier fire than it actually is.
Two Vehicle Kills for the Price of One
in Combat Mission Shock Force 1

Never thought I would see this: an M1A1 in the "Streets of Hama" mission, after breaking down the walls to expose the enemy's vehicles, knocked out two vehicles with one shot! Don't know if it was a secondary explosion from the BMP-2 that took out the T-90, since I was playing in real time. Nonetheless, two kills with one tank shell is something not often seen!
