Nothing like a .45!

The US Army Green Books are always a good reference and you can read them online https://history.army.mil/html/bookshelves/collect/usaww2.html

With regard to the shell ricochet from the turret into the co-drivers position, that early model Panther does not have the "chin" armor. I'm not sure if the shot trap is modeled in CM but if so there's a perfect example.

I think he was joking he typed jk at the bottom. Unless that's his initials.

Yep. Reminds me to a night exercise during my Bundeswehr time.
We were stumbling through a pitch back forest, until one of the guys “found” a trip wire and started an amazing show with flash-bangs and fire from all sides. Would have been a very short adventure in RL...
Just another reason you gotta love this game.

I recently read No Better Place To Die by Robert M. Murphy a pathfinder in the 505 PIR. Excellent book if you want the history by someone who fought there.

It is yes. I had 6 rounds of chemo. PET scan after round 3 showed almost all gone. Post treatment PET showed complete remission. It is a type that can (probably will) return, however, that means more treatment. Oncologist said to consider it more of a chronic condition, not a death sentence. Feeling pretty good now, other than still working to get my energy back. I get tired much more easily these days. They say it takes up to a year to feel back to normal. Thanks for asking. Best wishes for your girlfriend as well.
Hope your recovery continues man. In the mean time use CM as part of the treatment!

Yes, I could not agree with you more. It keys you up so much that sleep is like "what's that". I have to take at least 2 mg of Xanax at night just to shut my brain off. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
I hope that your cancer is in remission. My girlfriend is a breast cancer survivor.

Hope you're on the road to recovery Chris. Thanks for the honest post. My mom is a breast cancer survivor also I'm glad your girl beat it.

Check out Pen and Sword's Battleground Europe series. Also Rhineland: The Battle To End The War by W. Dennis Whitaker and Caen Anvil Of Victory.

Just got it last week. Its up to read next. Check out the documentary March 1945 on Amazon Prime video. Very detailed description of the battle by the Cologne Cathedral. I believe someone posted a link on the forums.

The Bitter Woods by John S.D. Eisenhower and Snow And Steel by Peter Caddick-Adams are 2 excellent ones I've read. There's plenty more but those will keep you busy!

Did the guy with the RPG get blasted?

I find it hard to believe ANY tank is going to shrug off multiple 203mm rounds. If nothing else the size of the projectile will cause damage besides the HE.

Stairs!? We don't need no stinkin stairs! Another strange CM surprise!

unless of course rouge dissension is programmed into the engine? what other conclusion can we come to?
Panther commander lost to him in a poker game and refused to pay up? Or Panther commanders wife paid gunner to whack him.

There's plenty of info in Hunnicutt's book. The later production model T26E4 eliminated the external springs and the gun was later able to use 2 piece ammunition.

So I'm playing the second scenario in the USMC campaign. Toward the middle of the mission I attempt to seize an objective with three AAVs with infantry aboard. The objective is a building with a small wall that surrounding... However, it seems in Combat Mission the 64,000 pound AAV-7 is no match for the masonry of a three foot wall. I was unable to cross over the wall put my troops in a safer position to dismount and assault the building.
Why can't AAVs breach walls? I have witnessed an AAV topple a wall much larger. Here is a video that demonstrates my point:That would be nice instead of wasting charges to breach a flimsy wall like that.

This would be my plan (purely uninformed speculation):
1: CM:FI to end of war.
2: CM:RT to end of war.
3: Unnamed CM:BS Module.
4: CM:FB to end of war.
5: Battle Packs for CM:FI, CM:RT, and CM:FB.
5A: Second Unnamed CM:BS Module.(New Combat Mission Engine Development?)
6: Combat Mission: Korea. (3 Modules: Drive to Pusan - Inchon to Chosan - China and Stalemate)
7: Combat Mission: Blitzkrieg. (3 Modules: Poland - Norway - France and Low Countries)
8: Combat Mission: Weltkrieg 1968.
We need those Berlin maps!

I love it. There's no other game that captures the chaos of a battlefield better than CM. You do good camera work btw a lot of different angles and heights well done.

Great AAR guys thanks!

Where to find a Chaffee
in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Posted
Unfortunately the Chaffee appeared late in the war and its hard to find many scenarios if any using it. When the next module for FB is released there should be more.
