I forgot this one. That would be even more important to me. Thanks for pointing that out.
  2. I like the way the crosshair changes it's colour when you point somewhere your gun cannot turn to.

I would like to have an additional indicator showing where the gun is pointing at the very moment. You could use the dot inside the crosshair for that. This way you would know when the gun has turned to where you are pointing.

In this case you could even allow firing before the gun has turned to the desired direction.

  3. I'd like to test my own scenarios but I don't want to put them into the main "data" folder to prevent confusion.

However if I place a scenario file with a new name into my custom mod data folder it is not listed in game.

Consequently it looks like there is currently no way to create scenarios which can only be played in one specific mod (except by using the names of scenarios which already exist in the unmodded data folder, I haven't tried that, yet).

  4. It has got to do with troops facing the wrong way. You will get it for sneaking infantry when trying to target anything which cannot be attacked without your unit turning (and thereby contradicting your sneak command).

You also get it for units with forward mounted MGs and for assault guns.

  5. I've been watching this thread for a while and Im sad to see it turn into this.

On the one hand I don't like the way the galaxies are used, either. I would have preferred DT to work the same way WWII battles or cold war battles would have worked.

On the other hand I can accept that the galaxy is a reality of DT I have to deal with.

In the end it is just a question of taste. If I designed a scenario thinking of historic or contemporary battles I'd be disappointed if players turned it into something completely different by using "gamey" means. However as a scenario designer I should leave some freedom to those who actually play it instead of trying to force players to cling to the concepts I had in mind while designing it.

Wouldn't a very easy solution be to have the option to turn off galaxies (and maybe even artillery, could be useful in some cases as well) in the scenario file?

Or maybe that feature is already there? After all there are campaign missions in which you don't have all dropship support.

I don't like galaxy abuse, but I can live with it, at least until we have a Cold War mod for DropTeam. Well maybe that's in the "far future", but people like Dark_au and me will be happy when there is a WWII mod.

  6. Obviously the time limit has to depend on the size of the scenario. If you have a 2 platoon tank battle, 5 minutes is more than enough, but if you're fighting a battalion size infantry battle, you'll need much more.

I've never played a TCP/IP game, so you better listen to those who have. However in my PBEM battles I have never needed more than 10 minutes for one turn (including watching the movie).

  7. I'm pretty happy with the in game update feature, however I can think of situations in which I'd like to be able to download dropteam update files and install them from my local hard drive.

Is there already a way to do this?

e.g. if I need to reinstall DropTeam I wouldn't want to go through all the updates from the ingame screen, and download everything from scratch.
