I did the same thing. Assaulting the guns with one squad each and turning them around worked perfectly for me.
  2. Didn't get a mail either (those who post about not getting a mail might also be a minority of those who didn't get it). Luckily I checked the d/l link often enough. Must have been one of the first downloaders. At 1920L it wasn't open, at 1930 it was. Got speeds of 1-2MB/s, never experienced anything like this before.

That's surprising. On my system AMD 2400+ 512MB RAM and an old GeForce it runs considerably better than that, even though I wouldn't call it exactly playable. Got more than 15 fps most of the time. a couple of seconds stutter every once in a while, but pausing for a second fixes that.
  4. Got the slowest system so far:

AMD 2400+ (at 2Ghz, usually I just let it run at 1.5 as it gets pretty hot).

    512 MB RAM

    GeForce 3 Ti200

Started with the lowest settings possible. First tutorial missions runs perfectly smooth. It just took a little long to load (felt like more than 3 minutes). Will look at some more populated missions with higher graphic settings next, wish me luck ;)

Dunno what you have, but so far I'm surprised how well the demo runs on my system and my CPU is running at 2.0 Ghz (details in the dedicated thread).

In my opinion this discussion is still useful. If US soldiers do PT with body armor, then the fatigue modeling shouldn't change, instead US soldiers should be given better fitness values in scenario design. This would have additional positive effects on mobility if you send them into combat without armor as it should if that's possible.

From my experience at international competitions US training workouts favoured strength at the cost of endurance compared to other western armies. However that could be totally different today. In those times body armor wasn't commonly used, either, so nobody thought of using it in training.

That's simply not true: you save 10$ as well. If the so called "lead" was the only reason you preordered and you were not interested in the boxed version + dl then it's you own business. Certainly it was not a good deal but you have yourself to blame.

I think all my statements were made from my personal thought how was the deal working for me and what where the main advantages to preorder for me, just for me.

Anyway, the whole point FOR ME is, yes I'm interested in the boxed version, I paid for it, and that's why I thought the best deal FOR ME was the chance of getting it before this boxed version arrives at home by post, but now, I'm not that sure I'll have it downloaded before the game arrives by post, that's all.

It will depend on how servers work and how overloaded they are when all the people is trying to download a 2 Gig file at the same time, and that counting it won't fail cause if it does I would like know where the good deal FOR ME is cause as far as I know the download link only works once.

Anyway, there's no point to keep discussing about this because we will know soon what happens and time will say who was speaking the truth, and If I'm wrong I don't have any problem posting it here. Honestly, I really hope I can prove me wrong.

I'm not the first one to say this, but it looks like it didn't catch. Who came up with the idea that we ordered a "pre-release". It was not battlefront.
  9. Let's face it, the timetable and way of distribution won't be changed and I haven't seen any convincing reasons here why they should be even though I'd like to have TOW as early as possible as well. I'll wait to see how adequate the download servers will be before whining.

    too late!

Credits cards are not a rip, I'm looking right now at $100 of amazon coupons I got for using my amazon visa.

How do you get a credit rating without a credit card? In the US it's pretty impossible.

No credit/bad credit = thousands more for loans, mortgages, etc.

I figure battlefront is being altruistic. anyone who can't get a credit card probably shoudln't be spending $45 on a computer game! They're saving you from yourself.

In Europe it's not the same as in the US. Whenever you use a credit card in the US you use your EC card in Europe. For those you get better service and lower/no fees. That's why CCs aren't as common over here. Only downside is that some companies don't let you pay with them over the internet.

As well as the handy dandy Demo-Charge for those brave squaddies and landsers seeking up close and personal involvement, hmmm... Inquiring staff officers want to know as well as senior NCOs..

88mm PAK is in as far as I know.

Preorder is supposed to be a "leap of faith" and that's what we get the 10$ discount for. Moon said the demo might come out before the end of the preorder phase but you don't have any right to expect that it will.

Ever done a "preorder" on Amazon? There you don't get any discount and you don't get the product earlier than anyone else. I'm happy with saving 10$ even if I get TOW at the same time as everyone else. Of course I'd love to start playing today, but from what has been said from the beginning I have no reason to expect download before the 16th.

Not really, it doesn't support multiple connections. In theory it should support resuming, but that didn't always work as it should.

I had the same problem. Solution: Find a friend who's got a credit card. In the future I'd prefer being able to use Paypal.
