  1. DrWood brings up some great ideas that made me slap my head and wonder why I didn't think of them first, so if I may add my endorsement. 1)A fast light cutter, say a shrike, would be a nice option, and just for balance give it only a auto AA gun. 2) I would love to see a Tempest with a 76mm or even a 120mm. It would be a definative Tank Killer, big gun, high speed, little armor. Of course it would also be an art form to drive and shoot, as the recoil should start pushig you in all sorts of directions. I did that with an Apollo stuck on the ice. I aimed at the gun in front of me and shot off HE. About four shots later I had enough momentum to get of the ice. Ah the tactics of desperation.
  2. I know that the THOR is not an M-1 but could we please give it better acceleration. I was trying to do berm drills with it and it just was not practical. DONT change the top speed!!! Just bump up the acceleration. Please!?! Oh and I understand why you loose sight of enemy vehicals when your turret is dead (Fog of War). But could you please let the driver see them if he heading right at them?
  3. I like point #5 LOS for Jammers and senors!! It follows RF physics, (Just ask any cell phone Tech )
  4. This Happen yesterday and just now had a chance so forgive me if it is already posted somewhere I didn't see. Two of us tryed an air mobile tactic were he picked me up with his dropship. So there I was hanging from the tether and we get shot down. I land just fine and hit the gas to keep from being landed on. Here's the funny part I was still tethered to a dead dropship so that when i reached the end of the tether it flipped me onto my rear and I was stuck there.
  5. I meant a Side-slip move from stationary, but thank you I'll give that a try too. Hit your brakes on a hover you'll drop to the ground release and you "pop up"

When your turret is destroyed all enemy vehicals disapear, even if they are in line of sight of the driver. Twice I have driven over enemies because I did not see them. A dead turret does not mean you are use less I have grabed the flag with no turret just fine but can't see the enemy to avoid him on the way back to base.
  7. Yeah you've ruined my day with that 20mm a couple of times today And I just thought you were brave for driving around in a engineering vehicle.
  8. First of all thankyou for the public beta, yeah!! The game is beautiful. Now for the gripes... 1) Please give hovercrafts a strafing movement(sideways). As they stand now they are hard to control. 2) It took me 3 shots at 850m into the rear of a Thor with a 120mm loades with AP to kill it. This made me very unhappy . I was hoping for a one shot one kill at that range and angle.
  9. Same thing happen to me today out on the ice (didn't think to take screen shot) got stuck sideways in a ditch. I hit X it only made the problem worse it flipped me right on my side had to call for extraction
  10. Hey Caseck you just describe a Hellbore. Which if you read read the background page closely enuogh they make a referance to. Hellbore come from the Bolo univers and I want one!
  11. How much AM would a DropTeam vehicle need to carry? </font>
  12. Please!!! Give us someting to hang our hopes on.
  13. Ok according to the infamous Wikipedia a kilogram (1000 grams)of matter will convert into 21.48076431 Megatons of TNT. Divide this by 1000 and you get 0.02148076431 Megatons. Convert the units gives you 21 Kilotons of energy for ONE gram of matter (for argument sake we'll call it 1/2 gram of anti-matter reacting with 1/2 gram of matter). http://www.stopthebombs.org/nuke/MiniNuke.pdf This web site lists the yield of the Hiroshima bomb as 15 Kilotons with a ground blast of 1.5 miles. Given these numbers i hope the terrain deforming software is up to the task Forget engineering vehicals just blow up a power supply and you get a mile wide foxhole
  14. Hate to sound like a fanboy but an earlier post mention networked point/area defence for the infantry, well John Ringo (give credit were it is due) had two thoughts on this as well one was called the Man Jack , basical a M-60 on motorized tripod with a LADAR for aiming. The Second you have to see for your selves look up www.metalstorm.com for some really nice add ons for infantry.
  15. I jut re-read my post. My spelling horrible. Sorry.
  16. One thing that no one has mentioned yet is that if the vehicals are powered by anti-matter what happens when the containment system is breached? Talk about your catastrophic kill!!! Somebody would have to look up the physics of the thing but AFAIK even a microscopic amount of anti-matter packs a huge punch! Vehicals in tight formation might even kill the whole group if one goes up. Something like a AMB (anti-matter Boom! ) would definately enchorage tean work in the game, I'll stay on my side of the mountain you stay on your's so if you get killed I won't.
  17. For any serious fans of powered armor a must have is John Ringo's series (Legend of the Aldenata) he give some very detailed ideas of how to fight powered armor with some good designs. He even gave them digging charges to make "instant foxholes" with. But please just look at it before you guys put the final stamp on infantry. Besides anyone who likes Sluggy cant be all bad.
  18. Three point to add to Yankee Dogs post. 1)The old Sheridan (yes I cant spell) also used a gun fired guided missle. Small charge to expel it then the rocket kicks in. 2)The M830A1 HEAT round or MPAT as it is called has a Chemical warhead with proximity fuse and a small KE penetrator. 3)You could not think of a use for a dual warhead missle? Just watch the news it is all about Bunker Bustin' these days. You have a KE head with a time delay fuse and a CE charge. KE punches a hole through the renforced wall and as it reaches the other side the CE charge goes off destroying the facility. If it just so happens that it also makes a really good AT weapon in a vacuum so be it. Side note: a rocket in vacuum will only accelerate to the speed of its exaust gasses at the nossel. Exception being Ion motors which are throwing out electrons (i think) at near light speed. Maybe with antimatter this would be a possiblity. NASA has one Ion motor in space but it accelerates really really slow.
  19. Yeah I got to agree though I only got to play with M1A2(not the SEP). You metioned the .50 cal you should note they change the mount away from that slow piece of ..... powered mount to ring mount. Makes it quicker to fire from the hip but if you have it unlocked while on the move it could break your arm. Almost did with my TC he was a former West point liner backer, and whacked me good on the CVC.
  20. Just for input,(so I feel like I'm contributing) as another tanker Renuad's time frame is spot on for the M1 and M1A1. As a CDAT the dual thermal sights of the M1A2 give the crew a few second advantage ( For Renuad; Check out the engagement times for TT VIII, might have to look around a bit to find them but I know they are out on the web). As for the earlier comment about picking out the gunners termal signture, (sorry I forgot who metioned it)I have personally read the Name Tag on a pair of BUDs a crossed the motor pool with the CITV (M1A2) call it 150M with 1 inch letters. Finding a person (read First Sergent) trying to sneak up on your position at a 1000M is not a problem.
  21. Good point. I would not know if a 88mm was behaving correctly or not. I got an idea for increasing the, Shall we say feeling, of the game. BFG could sell CM:SF in a kevlar for you and include a small can of desiel fuel and some spent brass casing just to get the smells right.
  22. I got to argee with Renuad. Even in the late 90's we still learned Sager drills in the M1's. Whether that was from experience in GW1 or just old habits die hard I cant say. But they seemed like so much BS we never thought it would save our lives. However from the other side the Bradley Gunner's always complained that they had to hold a lock on the tank for 14 seconds before the Miles system woud call it a kill. In a small unit fight, say company team level, even odds that the Brad would be dead before the TOW hit. But that is just Miles and STIX lanes. Is there a Brad Gunner out there that could say if this time limit was any realtion to real combat? (Of course no one probably had a stop watch going durring combat.)
  23. Still that would be an interesting equalizer. Not here you get so many points field your unit, but here this is your bugget try to field a unit. There was a cartoon about how a tank fights in urban warfare. It sitting at city limits sign and calls in CAS till there is nothing moving or breathing. Then puts it down as kill
