In CM:BN, if you want to move an AT gun back from its current position, do the crew still spend the first 20 minutes turning it around or do they just ( now that they're modelled 1:1 ), step in front and push it backwards ?
So any info on this from devs/beta-testers - or has no one actually tried it ?
Or ... game is so close to release that I will be able to try it out myself soon, oh so very sooooooooon

Ugh. ... I guess it's replaced having to hire professional mourners who wailed at Roman funerals ... sound's about the same, however.
Shocking disrespect !
Burn him !!
-
My question is not how to find a good hull-down position, but can you get your tank to stay there ?
Sometimes in CMx1, to my horror, the little pixelkommandeur decides that things are a bit hot and to "just move back a bit" and exposes himself even worse than if he had just stayed put.
Is that sort of thing necessarily left to the TacAI lest worse issues arise, or can you set him there in stone ?

You're assuming that Steve KNOWS it's lavender. It could be just a rare spice that Germans wanted to be cultivated so that they could make more Jägermeister.
No one drinks that sh1te, a few people pretend they do just to keep the producers happy.
It seems more likely that that screenshot was taken in a field that a farmer tried to use for lavender, but his enterprise failed so he left it fallow hence the current wild-lavender aspect.

Union surely ?
Have to agree here, what's League ? A sort of stop-start version of Rugby Union Pffffff
Have been playing wargames since 1990 beginning with Napoleonics figures. Now approaching 44 and still going strong. Much gratitude is owed to BattleFront for sticking to the more "niche" realistic wargames area.

Maybe in the fullness of time it will be possible to have both ?
Perhaps a hurriedly-dug "Dirt Barnacle" offering fractionally less protection than the prepared "Sandbagged Foxhole".

I think i'm done making videos (it's a very time consuming process), the game is coming out soon, as well as another surprise
Oh you tease. Well, I guess you and the other beta-testers are entitled to a little fun, poking us on the forums and watching us run around some more
Cheers

Nothing can stop the incessant whining, not even for an hour, let alone a week.
...
My experience on flight sim forums ( IL2 and successor for eg. ) is that even game release does not stop whining. It may change focus (slightly), but it continues unabated.
In fact, I would postulate that if the whining lessens even just a little for a week or two, that would be proof positive that CM:BN is a massive success

Outstanding video, nice to see it all happening in WeGo, thanks a lot.
My only gripe ( personal opinion and I know it's been mentioned before ) is that the tank-rocking IS too much - look at the video approx. 7:12 - that right hand Panther looks like a rocking horse !
OTOH, watching the suspension deform as the Panther crossed shellholes is really well done.

Actually, not surprising for us to see Finland ahead (and Sweden close), since we have access to other data (sales and account registrations, demo download data etc.) and other that data confirms that we have a strong following in Finland for years already.
...
<takes comment and runs off with it wildly extrapolating...>
So there's going to be a Winter War element to the Ostfront module. Sweet !

aaaannd can you tell those of us who don't know wtf a "Kampfraumheizung" is, what it is ?
Thanks
Wikipedia and Google both failed ( or brought back german language sites which in my case, doesn't help )
-
Yeah, thanks a lot man, it's been a fine display.

I would have expected the bombardment of the town, but I would also have kept most of my men back ( maybe left a spotter team in the foxholes ) to reoccupy after any possible pre-bombardment of that flank.
I assume that this is pretty standard amongst CMx1 players, maybe CMSF guys aren't so used to it ( different tactics in modern warfare ? )
-
Have just watched as far as the initial AI arty pounding, looks excellent. Particularly the way the AI decided ( as you did ), that putting troops in the town would be a poor move and that they would be on the flanks. Despite the fact that most of my games will be head-to-head, it's nice to see the AI will be no pushover, especially when learning the game.
Thanks for this, the drool is getting out of hand...

I was watching the video and I was amazed that a buttoned up tank was spotting infantry behind the Hedgrow with little difficulty... I could understand the tank firing if there was movement, or the infantry fired at the tank, but its not BFSForce where the tanks have Thermal sites?? Just a little concerned about ambushing Tanks.
Yeah, I did wonder about that myself, especially the bit where the 2 schreck guys sneak around the building and the buttoned Sherman whips the turret around about 100 degrees to mow them down.
I thought that
a) they should be hard to spot given they were partially behind the tank
and
is there not a Sneak/Crawl command ? They really could have just peeked around the corner and been even harder to spot ?

Dont want to feed the fire in this thread of RT versus WEGO, personally I prefer WEGO (ie. only play WEGO) but I think its great that BFC made it possible to have both. No need to argue which is better. Everyone gets to choose for themselves.
But I do agree that I feel like half the fun is constantly rewinding and watching the cool moments unfold. Such as the close assaults against the Shermans. Would have watched that 'minute' ten times over.
I have very fond memories of CM:BO PBEM's where I would watch critical 'minutes' over and over to get every little tidbit of the game out of that 'minute'. Thats the beauty of CM in my book.
Have to agree with this.
I'm also firmly in the WeGo camp, when I first discovered CM after Steel Panthers, it was so refreshing to have a system that didn't have the inherent gameyness of turn-based games.
Plus, 90%+ of my opponents live in other timezones, so Pbem WeGo is pretty much essential.
I take my hat off to Tyrspawn, I doubt I could actually handle/keep track/form and carry out coherent plans in real time unless using a far smaller force than he controlled in the 2 battles.
-
During the second game tyrspawn mentions (at 1:00:00) that the two squads in the center are "about to retreat and are wavering". How do you know? It's hard to tell from jthe video, but I didn't see any telltale signs in the UI and couldn't see any obvious casualties. (I've only played the CMSF demo once, so I'm a noob to this UI).
Just guessing, but when I watched the vid, it seemed as though the icon above the units in question was flashing - that might be the indicator...
-
Looks amazing and quite the appetite-whetter. Thanks for posting.
Only thing I saw that could fall into the category of "bug" was in the first scenario when one Sherman passed through the rear half of another Sherman.
-
lol.........i will put a sign on top of my monitor saying "Do not submit reply for 10 minutes!!!"
Which is a good idea for at least half ( probably more ) of the people reading and responding on forums

That would be the wife telling you that it is time to get off the computer
I remember reading a comment on the flight sim forums about a guy who'd mapped his aircraft commands ( in IL2 ) to Voice Activated Commands.
It worked great until his wife thought he'd flown enough, walked into the room and yelled "Bail out !"

Crap.
*in best Cardinal Ximénez voice*
And Gurkas...
SO, the best Allied troops are Canadians, New Zealanders, Aussies, Scots, Gurkas and anyone from Dorset. Oh god, I'll start again...
South African chips in, "Oi !" ...
-
As long as the Germans go "Hilfearrrgh !" lol.
Much childhood allowance went on those comics...
-
great screenshot and sorry to bring it up again ... would be a nice features to see all units names as opposed to just commander for the reasons stated above ... you become attached.
Agree. That gunner looks just like Klaus "Hard Man" Hunterberg.
A poll ... how fast will the first complaints roll in?

This sounds pretty accurate.
