  1. "Tank T-72. Scorching East" Hey.. I found the crazy house site awhile back and remember looking at the stuff about the middle east game, and don't remember seeing any abrams.. so I went and looked again.. still no abrams.. Only found 2 pics of tanks, one is the Merkava, and the other is a T-72. Now having said that.. when you read the text that explains about the game idea, it does mention the M1 http://news.crazyhouse.ru/events.php?mode=article&param=37&ch_lang=en for anyone who wants to take a look at it.. The only thing I can see, is that we have to remember its a fictional game based on historical events. Much like T-72 BOF.
  2. Hmm, gotta disagree with your view there TC.. I've seen many POS games come out with good demos, and still be a crappy game.. Its not tough to make a demo that only shows the "good" parts of a game.. On the other hand, I've seen good games come out with crappy demos.. But to base your buying decisions on when a demo is released is, well, stupid.
  3. Hey battlefront guys.. question.. How come the games you sell arn't available for download at time of purchase.. Or allow one or the other, or even both.. I've seen it on alot of other sites, and even used it for several applications I've purchased online.. Sure beats the "2-4 weeks" delivery time I get to wait for
  4. Hey all again.. heh.. Ok.. I've been playing the russian release demo.. and I do realize you guys don't support it.. which is fine, but i've noticed a few things in the game play that I was wondering if you've changed for the english release.. hehe.. Ok.. Issue 1> Submerging your tank doesn't kill it or your crew.. I was playing the demo with the T-72 where you hafta stop the T-55, MTLB before they hit the bridge, then kill a couple leopards.. Well.. I killed everything and decided to have some fun.. But I kinda ended up in the river.. Under the river in fact.. The engine stalled out.. but I figured, what the heck, I'll try starting it.. And guess what.. It started.. I was able to drive out of the river.. Dispite being completly under water.. Seemed odd.. I now have a new tactic! (PS, it did stall a couple more times.. but just hold down the E key and the engine stayed running) Issue 2> Ok, this is more of a so what kind of thing.. When you blow the tracks off a vehicle.. It should be easier to push with another tank. Not harder. I got bored, so I decided to build a pile of dead tanks.. Blew the track off a T-55 and figured it should be easier to push.. Hell no! It was easier to push it from the side and roll (yes I rolled the tank like a big wheel) to where I wanted it. This seemed odd.. But highly amusing. Issue 3> Reloading in general.. Ok.. I do understand that you don't have an unlimited supply of ammuntion (I'm a Tanker to be honest, so I'm very familier with the ammo part. heh) but when I do the math, the loadout on the tanks just doesn't seem right. This is a copy from Janes "Of 39 rounds of ammunition carried, 12 are APFSDS-T, 21 HE-FRAG(FS) and the remaining six HEAT-FS. The additional rounds of ammunition are stowed in racks behind the turret basket and in indentations in the rear floor fuel cell and second forward right cell near the driver. The carousel automatic loader is mounted on the turret floor and also on the rear wall of the turret. The projectile is loaded in the lower half of a carrier, the cartridge and propellant in the upper half. The carousel carries 24 ready use projectiles. When the 125 mm gun loads it must pick up the carrier and ram both the projectile and powder charge. This enables a rate of fire of 8 rds/min to be achieved. The main 125 mm armament is stabilised and enables the T-72 to shoot on the move with a high probability of a first-round hit." Total loadout for the T-72 is normally given as 45 rounds, with 39 normal rounds, and 6 ATGM. This is a far cry from whats given in the game. Also according to Janes, FAS, and a few others, the CO-AX has 2000 rounds.. Not the couple hundred given in the game.. So.. my question.. Where did the extra ammo go? lol. And also, are we able to dictate ammo load outs according to mission type? If I'm going to face mostly tanks, I'd take more APFSDS (Sabot) than I would HEAT or HE-FRAG. Ok.. thats the main ones I noticed.. And I figured I'd ask about them. hehe..
  5. Hey there.. Just wondering.. It was said earlier, that the release would be end june early july.. and I noticed that its now july, and still not release or demo.. Are things still on track? Or have any unexpected problems come up that are going to delay things? Or better yet, can you guys give a firm date for the roll out?
  6. The soviets included the ability to fire missiles as far back as the T-62. This was done because they simply didn't have the range or ammunition type to compete with western range and armor. The T-72 is capable of firing the AT-8 and I believe the newer versions are capable of firing the AT-11. If I remember correctly, the earliest versions didn't have missile capabilities, but it was added in quickly. Also, just a point, you can't determin a tank type just by the position of smoke grenade dischargers, or stuff like that. Those are easy to take off and put on.. Plus when you start adding ERA or other defensive measures, those tend to get moved around.
  7. I've used many a chunk of tree to get out of a bad situation, but I think your mistaking the Snorkle for a "log" The other choice is the fuel drums that are carried on the rear of some tanks. I've seen that mistaken for a log as well. On the rear of the newer russian tanks (on the side of the T-72) is a snorkle that can look like its a log. This is used to ford deep water obsticles. Using a unditching beam is normally unpractical for a tank.. If you get stuck in a tank.. you need atleast 1 other tank to get you out. lol. I got my leopard so stuck, it took 3 tanks and the ARV to get me out. Used to have a pic of me standing ontop of the turret, and all you could see of the tank was the tip of the barrel, and the radio antenas
  8. woo a western tank... aslong as its not abrams.. something new! or interesting, or even challenging.. hehe Oh, how about the Leclerc? Just have to remember to include a key to put up the white flag
  9. I know I said it before, but WWII is so over done.. Besides.. Unless they got very indepth in the eastern front battles (well being a russian company anythings possible. hehe) or the desert battles, the rest seems just boring.. I'd like to see something new.. Perhaps following some of the Russian/Chinese border battles that have happened over repeatedly since the end of WWII.. Another one I like would be, perhaps, Pakistan vs India.. I know it might seem lopsided..atleast at first.. but they both do have a surprising amount of equipment, and alot of it is very up to date. I still think Africa is an interesting possibility.. Eqypt, Libya, South Africa.. Lots of good counties, with lots of "up to date" equipment.. And desert warfare just seems like so much more fun..
  10. I noticed that there doesn't seem to be any information on the game engine towards MODs of the game. So I figured I'd make a thread and ask the good guys at Battlefront directly. hehe. Does, or will, the game support community mods? Will it have the ability to add in user created missions and equipment? Will BOF directly support addin MODs to the same extent that ghost recon does, by having menus and easy to follow directions to add in external mods.. I ask this, not because I'll be dissapointed by the game (I spent several hours translating the russian demo, and I'm very impressed with how the year old demo plays/looks) but more because this game engine seems very robust and will offer countless hours of blowing things up.
  11. Hey.. I noticed at the Crazyhouse homepage, they talk about a new game using the T-72 engine, concentrating on the middle east.. Is this going to be supported/published by Battlefront? Or is this just something that they have gone and done themselves? For anyone interested I'll include the link for the new game, they have an awesome rendering of a Merkava. http://news.crazyhouse.ru/events.php?mode=article&param=37&ch_lang=en As a side note.. another question for Battlefront.. will T-72 BOF support Mods, or offer mod help? This engine has an incredable potential, and with the amount of people out there who can produce awesome mods of some really bad games, there remains a huge after market area for this game!
  12. Personally WWII is so overdone its not even fun anymore. I'd rather see something interesting.. Perhaps Korea, Middle east, or even a fictional WWIII, from the Soviet side.. Or german, or french (well maybe not french.. Retreating and losing every battle would get boring) theres lots of good, interesting venues available for a good tank sim.. Maybe even the unusual.. South Africa would be interesting..
  13. Hmm.. Engaging dismounts with machine guns is just fun.. lol.. We call them SPPUTS.. or Self Propelled Pop Up Targets.. and just for the record.. other than another tank, a pair of grunts with an anti-tank weapon is one of the most dangerous things on the battlefield for tanks.
  14. Hey guys.. Just reading some of this stuff.. Alot of "new" reports indicate that the T-72 was fielded as a relativly cheap replacment for the vast amount of T-55s in service with the, then, Soviets. New 105mm rounds are almost as capable as 120mm DU rounds, and without the slightly harmfull side effects. And to be honest.. I've fired the M242 Bushmaster 25mm cannon on T-72B hulls on the range, and live APFSDS-T will penitrate the frontal armor, on average it seemed about 30-50% of the time. So you figure a normal engagement is 3 round bursts till the target is neutralized, about 1 in 3 of those rounds penitrated... Not bad odds. Also, if you do some searching, there are reports of a M2 Bradley platoon engaging an M1A1 platoon by accident. 3 of the M1A1s where disabled by the 25mm cannon. 1 had a ammunition hit, and 2 had engine hits. This was thru the side armor. Anyways.. thats just my two bits.. The T-72 did have some great advantages, like being increadably small.. and it was very very fast.. except in reverse.. or in the mud..
  15. hey.. Just wondering if theres a shipping date, or expected shipping date for anyone who pre-orders?
  16. It posted it twice.. my bad.. but when is the shipping date? lol
