  1. Well there were a-lot of senior Sgts leading platoons and in some cases companies in the US military. Granted the T/O and line numbers state whats required, BUT due to the casualties officers weren't always instantly replaced.
  2. umm,,,No dip ****, your grammer is not alright. Next time put a period at the end of the "S", "u" would be "you" and "Goto" would actually be "Got to" ,"Gotta", or have to,,,oh forget it....wouldn't do any good anyway. Besides everyone here knows you just can't polish a turd.
  3. Still I disagree, this is totally contrary to what I am told by the Vets of WW2. Sgts had control over thier squads, and Platoon Sgts were there for the E-men and to "mold" the butter bars. As the war went on more and more emphasis was place on small unit tactics..Initiative is a MUST when executing such tactics. Look at the US Airborne during Normandy, someone had to have initative to try and get some sort of fighting cohesion. Not just that but every amphibious landing that occured under fire. Sorry boys but the SGT had always been free with initiative in the US Military. And the example given to me about the British Army that doesn't jive with initiative. Maybe I have a different understanding of initaitive but I always thought it was thinking ahead to stay ahead, If something needs to be done then you do it without being told.
  4. Ok......???? I am not going to totally agree with that.....Here's a big venture for me,,,someone said earlier about the differences in the US services,,,For the Army that may be true to an extent. I will spend the time to rescearch this but I know just from talking with the "old salts" at the VFW initiative was common in US troops...(other services on the other had always prided itself for this, just look at their history)BUT, I will keep it in line with the CMAK ETO, Not Pacific, specifically US Army..blah blah blah.....bit.....I am still baffled by the democratic remark....
  5. What do you mean by this? Especailly the "democratic" part...
  6. I stand corrected. I should have wrote "Nazi" Thank you for obliging me. And in a professional manner. Truthfully...
  7. HOLY SH*T!,, LOL!! LOL!! This has to be the best post here! GDamn,, man funny stuff, very funny!
  8. Just remember, this goes especially for you ground pounders,,its AIRPOWER that makes the differance! He who controls the skies, controls the ground (in WW2 that is, I know all about Vietnam so don't even start! ) I can't wait for the replies....
  9. That's French not the Free French, Atleast they had the balls to escape regroup and return later to fight! (oh man I am sure I'm asking for it)
  10. I would say you hit it on the head. Were there bad units, YUP! were there good one, absolutly! The same is for everyone,,,(except the french ) OH! there I go again
  11. Yeah I know,,,No one has bitten yet,,,,There all porbably at the library now looking for rebuttles....LOL!
  12. FK is right,,,less guys to carry. I like CMBB and CMAK ammo "rules" I think it makes it more "realistic" No more "super soldiers" I like the morale feature too. Finally a game that makes the soldiers scared when they come under 150mm fire, and the best part is that it only has to be close! I am playing an online campaign for CMBB, I had a Platoon of SMGs come under serious 150mm fire,,3/4s of the platoon ran for the woods only to be met by VERY vicious MG-34 fire! Those guys were eliminated in about 20 seconds,,,,not cool.
  13. Ok That's kind of what I was thinking. But I did want to write anything that would be attacked like vultures to a fresh kill....It seems to me that (mostly from talking w/ WW2 US Army vets at the VFW here) this was the case. They tell me that they would concentrate their automatic weapons on the MGs position (or were they thought) then advance fire teams, while under covering fire..but they also tell me that they had to learn this the hard way, and that some men would "bolt" or "freeze" when they came under the "burping" of an MG-34. As far as the Germans losing, I would say that was a part, especially becasue the need for raw materials and the constant air raids on infastructure. I would venture to say that they would have won if a mad man, Bohemian Coporal was not making the important decisions. He should have listened to his Army Generals and not the SS ones, but thank God he did) (sorry for the religious reference) And the whole German concept of military leadership did not allow much room for initaitive. But I am sure I will see a post soon saying I am wrong. LOL, And quite frankly by reading this post it seems as if there are two sides, One that says the US Army was terrible in ETO and the Other side says that they all were super soldiers. I'll call it the "historians" and the "heros". Both of which need to sit down and look at both sides of the stories then come to a conclusion, and not one that necessarily supports thier own personnal beliefs. But I don't know I thought we are to be impartial...probably wrong there too.... Hey here's one for you all...French Ammo load? I bet the had plenty of it because they sure didn't use much against the Germans.....(oh boy here we go.."Ding" round 5 begins!)
  14. I do remember the Turks, Afgans, Saudis, and Baharianians all drank there tea hot. Not me man! Don't even like tea, yuk
  15. Speaking of which....What was there load out, I am guessing between the 4 total ammo compartments, they were able to put (4) 5rd strippers in each for a total of 80 rounds. Is this correct? It seems as if the German Army build its squads around the MG-34. Or am I wrong? 1200rpm is a lot of lead that keeps you enemies head down so you can advance and huck greandes. Again I may be wrong. Sorry gents I do not posess any good books on the German Army.
  16. SICILY!!!!,,,I have been there many times. I love that place,,,Goreous Women and Classy too! Catania is a place to see. Alot of the war is still there! And not in line with CMAK but the city of Syracusa and the Roman and Greek Ampatheatre! Really COOL! OK Man enjoy!
  17. Fine. Spelling is important because otherwise no-one can read the gibberish you write. You've got a full keyboard in front of you, use it. This isn't a text message. I think you and volkov would get along quite well. You act the same. </font>
  18. Looks good!,,,,But I think the Para Marines wore a greener duck camo and it was actually a smock, much like all early para unit in the world and certian "standard" infantry units wore what the called beach camo,,,the tan background, I believe they tried it out "in mass" during the Tarawa landing....If I remember right I saw this at the USMC Mueseam in Quantico VA....can't remember though. I do have a pic of my Grandfather who was in the 11th Airborne Divison and he was wearing a duck camo w/ green background,,,, But going back,,,really good man...looks cool!
  19. Oh and BTW,,,Who the Hell would enjoy drinking HOT tea in the HOT desert????? Not my bag man...But I got a feeling you Brit boys would....
  20. Can't imagine why..??? How does one find the time to eat hot chow in combat? I know the US used to place thier chow and water in the canteen cup on the engine cowling or buried the rat can in the sand,,,a method that is still used today...MMMMM nothing like the taste of beef stew simmered in Carbon Monoxcide.....
  21. Dead on BTM.... For all to read... http://www.militaryhistoryonline.com/wwii/usarmy/default.aspx I'd say this covers both ends of the spectrum
  22. How would the CM engine handle say, 1900-2010? Covers all the bases....or is this wishful thinking....?
  23. I had the pleasure of "combat" twice,, and I can remember taking all I could and putting it anywere I could. I also took the 3qt canteen as well...REMF!!! pish!!!,,, I can also remember a little saying,,,"If you get killed were dividing up your gear"...
  24. OH! I wanted to have the 100th post,,,sorry just being greedy.... Just re-read the marksman stuff...They best marksman were all the cannon cockers of all the nations...Arty accounted for more casualties than small arms...remember you can be cool and say "one shot, one kill" or you can be REALLY cool, with swagger, and say "one shot, one hundred kills" So I guess the marksman thing has been addressed. 25. Grunt Gear...GOOD BOOK,,,,Although The USMC Para Bns wore the "duck camo" I think it was called. Its the same pattern as the helemt camo. Any PTO game needs Para Marines...Guadalcanal 1942! Notice that's what it says in the 1st Marine Divs Unit Crest....and the star pattern..cool eh? The Paras were eventually disbanded..1943 I think....
