  1. Im aware that time can be a factor but couldnt they have dispensed with the naval guns ? I mean how many people are going to be pissed if theres no off map naval artillery compared to the people who are going to be pissed at having to defend against air strikes with nothing ? Well air power will be even rarer in custom built scenarios now theres no counter to it !!! Hang on, is this a joke, they are going to get it in for the Bulge, lol, when the weather was too bad too use it most of the time in the real thing, i feel like im in a Terry Gilliam movie !
  2. "After the landings, Flak Corps III moved forward to support German forces near the Normandy beaches, playing a key role in slowing the advance of Allied armored forces in June and July" "In initial operations, the corps claimed twenty-five aircraft destroyed while suffering "considerable" material and personnel losses" Those are quotes from the source you sent me, so that proves a/ the Axis "had" FLAK weapons in the area and b/ they were effective up to a point. So i dont see how your link backs up the fact that there doesnt seem to be any in CMBN, and also theres such a thing as "what if" scenarios as well. But if it could be modelled in CMx1 why isnt it in CMx2, is it so difficult with this new engine ? its such a fundamental oversight not having Light AA weapons in a game where there is the option of having air strikes it beggars belief ?!?!?! I was looking forward to seeing the air strikes in the CMBN operation im going to run as ive been told the sounds are awesome, but how can i put them in now when the Axis will be defenceless against them ?
  3. I was talking more about the Axis forces, in fact aren't they essential given the Allied air power in that theatre at that time ?
  4. I have just had a look on at the TO&E of CMBN and i cant see any dedicated AA guns. is this correct ?
  5. Im using John Tillers Normandy 44 game for the strategic layer so i have plenty of maps and i have posted up screenshots of zoom in sector maps of the operational area for players to download and draw their movement orders on and i also plan on using whatever maps that come with CMBN that are the most compatible to the terrain profile of the areas contested so im ok in that department. Also the beauty of the D Day landings is that the Allied forces come on in packets so there will not be vast armies to manage from the start, and if there is a lot of combat the arriving units will proabably be making up losses or replacing fought units on the front line which keeps tracking to a minimum.
  6. Thanks for looking at the site and the compliment, i am re writing on a daily basis so in two or three months it should be watertight, especially with the helpfull responses and suggestions i am recieving, i once ran a similar operation with a few friends on CMAK and i learnt a lot from that but it wasn't on the scale of this present endevour, however i have been mulling this over for a long time and i'm confident that it will work. I have two players signed up at the moment and expect more once CMBN has been digested by the community, and im sure it will work with at least four players per side so six more and its viable
  7. Well as the vast majority of responses to my threads have been positive and constructive im glad i got this into the system when i did and as you say i can use the time while people get used to CMBN to sort out the teething problems whilst also allowing the community to look in at my work and make suggestions like you have just done Good idea about the casualty question, your response and others pertaining to the same issue have allowed me to come up with a solution, im going to let the team members decide what to do with their fought units after the battles. I certainly will have a go at writing up an AAR report of the operstion whilst it unfurls with a public release after the completion, obviously this depend on time factors but if during the course of the operation i didnt get the chance to collate it thenonce its over it would be well worth doing it then.
  8. I had a similar same idea last night and re wrote the playing method, however my method differs in that the players get to decide the moves by drawing arrows and or writing orders on screenshots of the operational game map i will be using, then i just play out the turn as a two player hot seat game following their orders. Also if players get campaign fatigue im hoping others will take their place, and as for me i live for this game and its been an ambition, since i ran a similar one on a much smaller scale, to expand the scale and modify the rules based on previous experience, so once CMBN was announced i saw a golden opportunity to realise that ambition. Thanks for the post
  9. Well i would dispute your implication that all wargamers are the same, they are people you know, and people are diverse, you get Captain Bringdowns in all types of social circles Yes i realised that after a few reponses to this thread which to me justified the thread, as it was what i wanted, a reason for the silence, damn sight better than the silence, now all i want is the silence.....ohhh sweet irony
  10. Have you actually looked at my website ? and might i add statistics can be misleading and what does it matter how many posts i make if they are all constructive, ever heard of the term quality over quantity ? I refer you to my website that i have revised, as i did say this was a work in progress, also what do you mean by 35 battles ? Subject already been discussed, please read other posts before you jump in. I am a one man club. So why didnt you ask me before posting this ? I have run a similar campaign amongst friends using CMAK and used to organise big ACW battles with real figures in the days before PC gaming at my local wargames club. Now could you explain to me what your intentions where by posting these comments as they come across as smug and patronising and im not taking it personally becuse you dont know me.
  11. Please ignore this statement as i have changed the playing method of the intended operation and i no longer require Team Commanders or people that own the Normandy 44 game.
  12. Thank you, which side do you want ? I will need an e mail address as well.
  13. That makes sense, thanks, i'll have to do some research, i was being lazy and hoping someone would save me the trouble
  14. What percentage of casualties would a US and German unit in the Normandy theatre have to suffer to be either disbanded or out of action for say 24 or 48 hours ? Is it the same for both or did the different armies have different systems ?
  15. I love you BFC community, thank you for these words of encouragement, just what i needed
  16. Thank you sweet jesus for these replies I can see your points and its "down the road" for me too as i still have stuff to do, but i thought i'd announce it now as i spotted a thread covering the same ground so i thought if i get it out now the people on the thread or anyone could give me some feedback and maybe make suggestions or just say " Im game when its ready, sign me up" However im glad its out now and when i come to have it ready to play ill just have to make a big announcement with full fanfare but as was inferred CMBN could be bugged to hell and take 5 patches to get right so i will shut up now, ive said my piece, im going back to my cave now, and if anybody has concerns over my commitment, to this project as it will take a long time to complete, you will be glad to know i am housebound due to bad health so i am at the PC 24 / 7 but im not so unhealthy that i will die half way through it
  17. Yesterday i posted a thread entitled "CMBN Omaha to St Lo multiplayer H2H Operation" announcing i was going to run a multiplayer operation using CMBN to resolve the tactical combat and John Tillers Noramandy 44 to do the strategic moves, my thread has had over 500 views yet only one person has offered to play it, i dont expect universal praise or a flood of enquiries but i would like to know why 499 people arent responding at all, whats wrong with it ?, is it the rules ?, the concept ?, is it not historical enough ?, is it too simplistic ? tell me , give me feedback !!! I'm dying of curiousity here, the silence is killing me, id rather people come on and say it sucks and why and then maybe i can change it to what people want rather than this wall of silence !!! I know there might be a lot to digest so come and say "hey, im reading it, ill get back to you" or something like that, but this silence is terrible.
  18. Good post Jason, i know you know your stuff, so if, when i run my N44 operation using CMBN to resolve the tactical combat am i right in saying that you recommend one battalion per N44 hex / CMBN battle map of 1 x 1 km and no more ? The largest CMBN maps managable will probably be 2 x 2 km so that would be maximum of 4 battalions for the attacker, am i correct ? I want some sort of stacking limit just so the files dont get too big so this sounds like a good rule of thumb. Also while we are on the subject and if you dont mind me asking i would like your opinion on the % of casualties a unit has to suffer to force it to disband or be out of action for say 38 hours ?
  19. Thats a pity about your time constraints but the OOB sounds great so if you could send it to me i'd be gratefull
  20. Does anybody own and is familiar with the game "John Tiller's Panzer Campaigns 44" as i need two Team Commanders who own it to play a H2H PBEM game of a modified Omaha to St Lo scenario from the game so that i can run a multi player team based operation with CMBN to be used for tactical combat resolution. I am in the process of writing some rules to show how i plan to convert the information from one game to the other and how the teams will work. The site is nearly finished and i plan to run the game in May or June depending on the release of CMBN as i need that to finalise the OOBs. The link to my site is below https://sites.google.com/site/cmbnomahatostlo/ Once i have the Team Commanders i will need a further 7 players per side. Feel free to ask me about anything to do with the operation.
