  1. I admire your optimism but i have been playing CM since its inception amongst other wargames and i think i understand what makes a good balanced game and a bad unbalanced game if it's a fair test of the players skill that you are looking for, so technically as you point out it's not impossible for Red to win but realistically it is. The margin for error for Red in this scenario is near zero IMO, its like a set over set scenario before the flop in Texas Hold em Poker, the under set has a chance to win if it hits the one card in the deck it needs but its only got a 5% chance of hitting that card so it's a situation you never want to be in. To me a double blind balanced scenario is the holy grail as it's the best judge of the player's skill, anything else is just an experiment not a game, scenarios like this do more to annoy players if played double blind than entertain and are basically exercises in futility.
  2. I cannot get a version of this scenario on the net, do you have it ?
  3. Ok, thanks for the info, i will check it out, bigger map scenarios would be an improvement if only to allow Red ATGMs to engage at maximum ranges.
  4. Do not play this scenario if you want balance, its a set up for Red, who on earth thought that 15 Bradleys versus 9 BMP 1's could be anything other than a massacre, then add the Javelin to the mix and you have the CM equivalent of a back alley gang mugging. This highlights one of the problems with Shock Force, whilst the optic tech has improved the maps have gotten smaller so movement on the battlefield is almost impossible for Red with it's inferior tech, therefore the only concievable way Red can conduct offensive manouvers is with at least a 4 to 1 advantage which i never see apart from NATO Alamo where the exception proves the rule. The only viable scenarios i have come across are the attack defence set ups with Red having good and plentifull cover, then its an ambush game, which is fun up to a point but for more aggresive players like myself can get tiresome and frustrating, and the irony when playing Blue is that you get rewarded for conservation of forces so whilst it throws up a new and interesting parameter it forces Blue into a more passive role. Whilst this theatre presents some unique puzzles that are initially interesting it does not make for a sustained and balanced H2H combat sim as the forces are too imbalanced for much varaity at the current scale levels of the game. I would of liked to have seen the Arab Israeli wars modelled as an alternative to WW2 but now CMBN is arriving the cut and thrust of combat can now be revisited I love the new game engine by the way, but please lets have a armor only target arc in BN.
  5. Set your artillery to Armor penetration, its the best at destroying buildings.
  6. Thanks Packito but i have solved my problems now, i had forgotten to validate my registration information so thats why i couldnt log in to Panzerzug, so once i was in i could then see the buttons to use and post on the forum
  7. I'm available to play in this Tournament if there is room, i play CMSF and all the Modules. I have just registered with PanzerZug if that was a requirement.
  8. Armoured Target Arc is essential in my opinion.
  9. lol.....So plotting fifteen waypoints then realising your third one is in the wrong place thus forcing you to have to delete and re plot the subsequent twelve to rectify the mistake is ok then ?......sir, you are a masochist
  10. Problem solved, i re configured my keyboard commands by altering the text file in the Data folder and now the Comand Panel changes to the correct one in unison with my keyboard commands
  11. In CMSF i can move from Combat Mode on the GUI to Move mode by pressing N for Move and the mouse pointer corresponds thus allowing me to plot Move order waypoints. However this does not happen with any other Move mode command like Fast ( Hunt (K) etc, when those keyboard commands are pressed whilst in Combat mode the game does not acknowledge this and the GUI and mouse pointer remain in Combat Mode forcing me to use my mouse pointer to change modes which is less convenient. Is this a bug ?
  12. FPS style, that's even better, and as for what you say about the potential unpopularity of the LOS restrictions, i agree, thats why i want it as an "option"
  13. In CMx1 we had the ability to move individual waypoints to allow finer adjustments of move paths, for some reason this has been omitted from CMSF, could it be restored in CMBN as it's annoying to have to delete the path back to the waypoint in question if you have it wrongly positioned.
  14. Interseting idea Danny but being an officer, unlike Red Bull, does not give you wings It's an added layer of complexity for a function that is unrealistic, the whole point of camera / level lock is to create a more realistic perspective on the battlefield and to make high ground even more valuable and in RL officers are as restricted as anyone else when it comes to LOS unless they have a higher vantage point.
  15. "Not impossible".......i like that I think the concept is worth pursuing, if implemented well it would create a game within a game.
  16. Not true, i used to play CM1 with "camera lock on unit" and an mutually agreed level 1 restriction and it was fun, if you wanted to see down a road you had to move down it, if you wanted to see across a field you had to get in a 2 storey building, the only hassle was plotting move paths but that just made you come up with simpler attack paths and thus reduced the level of micro management you get when able to fly around the map checking everything from every angle. Yes, if i want the experience of a relatively simple 2D topdown map type game with icons for units, but i don't, i want the option to have the ability to have the camera locked to the unit and fixed at level 1 so you only see what the unit sees from the units perspective....simple really. I have ARMA but unlike CMSF you cannot control "all" the other units in play, and also in ARMA there are options to force first person perspective and no command view (which is similar to the god like over view you get in CM) so like ARMA it would be good if Battlefront put in a couple of simple options that would enforce a completely new perspective on the game if desired.
  17. Most people don't or won't like the idea, it's a real shift from the usual CM experience, but having the option to lock it (i mean lock the level view "and" lock the camera to the unit) won't change anything for people that don't like the idea and everything for people that do, and as the temptation to elevate the view when playing can test a saint it would remove any ethical conflicts for the masochists that want to use it
  18. Would having the option to lock the LOS at Level 1 be that difficult ?
  19. I think having an option to restrict LOS to level 1 would be excellent, it would then make owning high ground and multi storey buildings more advantageous than usual. I tried it in CMx1 and it was good, a bit frustrating at first but once you got used to it it was great fun, especially with scouts or AC's................following an AC down a road at eye level waiting for the inevitable was awesome A camera level lock option would be nice as it's sometimes too tempting to zoom up when things get complex
  20. I'm currently playing CMSF and there are target arcs for using heavy or light weapons but not for engaging heavy or light units as there was in CMBB.....is this going to be added to CMBN ?
  21. Actually the more i think about it the more i realise it's not the unrealism or gameyness that bothers me, otherwise i would have to object to the godlike power of being able to move around and float over the whole map which technically allows me to do the same thing that the waypoint LOS target line does but more precisely, it's its usefulness and functionality that bothers me, and that is because i am one of those players that studies the terrain ad nauseum and i think that gives me an edge over lazier players, but now that function allows lazier players to workout the same information i do but quicker and with more precision so i lose my edge
  22. Yes but in RL you cannot know a LOS from a point that you do not have a LOS to.
