  1. I tried changing the settings on my NVIDIA card from Brightness - +50 % to +37 % Digital Brightness - +50% to +23% Contrast - +50% to +0% Gamma - +1.00 to ditto Hue - +0 degrees to ditto This has worked fine
  2. In the mod Invasion 44 for ARMA 2 they use a device called a saturation filter to change the overall look of everything visual in the mission, this had the wierd effect of making it look more realistic by "washing out" the colour. After comparing it with the look of the mod without the filter i must admit i preferred the filtered version, i think the reason why i prefer the filtered version is because it looks more like the colour film from WW2 compared with the colour you get in movies, one notable exception is Saving Private Ryan where i believe Speilberg did a similar wash out effect for the reason i have mentioned above. Is there any software that could do this too a monitor screen or would it take a terrain mod for CMBN to achieve the same effect ? Below are two links to youtube videos of the Invasion 44 mod for ARMA2, one unfiltered the other filtered, what does the rest of the community think of this effect ? - unfiltered - filtered
  3. Thank you, i will need an e mail contact address either now or when you decide to join, i will make a note of your BFC name and add it too the list of players. Which side would you prefer ?
  4. Ive just done a massive re think and re write of my rules and i would like an opinion on the revised Engagement Rules section.
  5. Thats true, but by posting this thread i have gotten lots of feedback and some usefull suggestions unlike the first thread about the project i posted
  6. The operation i plan to run will be nothing like CMMC as i am familiar with it and its complexity was one of the reasons that inspired me to create a simpler method for the average player to be able to play CM at an operational level, however things went on hold once CMC was announced but the idea resurfaced again once that project was aborted.
  7. Thanks for the vote of confidence I am familiar with CMMC and was going to participate in the CMBB operation they were running at the time but it didnt take long to realise that it was as much if not more a simulator of actually being in an army as it was a way of playing CM at an operational level which was very impressive but essentially for purists only so i declined. However it got me thinking that there must be a simpler way of doing an operation for CM that wouldnt involve doing the vast a mount of paperwork involved in CMMC ( intelligence gathering and processing in CMMC was a game in itself ) and would be user friendly for the average CM player so when CMBN was announced i started to put my thinking cap on and formulate a set of rules that any one could use and with the adoption of the John Tiller game as the operational map, unit marker and LOS tool i felt i had the answer. So the operation i plan to run will be nothing like CMMC and will require a lot less work on behalf of all involved
  8. Well that solves a problem then, now i can swap the mobile FLAK 38's in N44 for CMBN Armoured Cars and dispense with any air strikes, thanks for the input.
  9. Would the Axis armoured cars shoot at the planes in CMBN ?
  10. Go tell John Tiller that , it says air power is available in the Normandy 44 scenario and there is a list of various US planes favailable for strikes from the Mustang to the Marauder so im defering to his wisdom on the matter.
  11. Flaking hell, what the Flak is going on for Flak's sake, i didnt know i'd get Flak for talking about Flak !!! Flak off
  12. lol.........i will put a sign on top of my monitor saying "Do not submit reply for 10 minutes!!!"
  13. What a beautifull solution, in my operation if the attacker requests an airstrike to support their attack on a hex and the defender has a FLAK battery in his OOB then i could do as you say, some dice rolling with the parameters being the shooting down of the plane/s at one extreme going through various degrees up to completely missing which would allow the plane unfettered access to the Axis forces ...thank you very much for that excellent suggestion Feature creep, what a great expression, i've never heard that before, i like it, good name for a band and yes i can see what you mean when you put it like that, but i guess i just assumed that AA guns, like in the old CM, where taken as read.
  14. Yes, thats true, silver linings et al....well silverplated linings at least
  15. That will do for me, in CMAK it made the Stukas miss the tanks
  16. Thats fair enough, but my experience with it in CMAK was such that i was extremely impressed with it, notable was a scenario where Stukas ruled unless you set up your AA correctly then the effect was noticable so to me it was always an essential part of the CM game, just like tanks, troops and guns, if it wasnt effective why was it put in in the first place ? Well i guess BFC are responsible then for conditioning me through the old CM to see AA as a vital part of the mechanics of the game and the only viable weapon against air power, it all worked for me in CMx1 so you must forgive me my reaction as i was shellshocked to find that it had been omitted in CMBN irrespective of the reasons. I agree, naval power gives the game options and i am glad it is in for the very reason you mention, even more so as it will play a vital part of the opening of my operation so i for one am glad its there but one must admit its a niche weapon thats not going to appear in the bulk of the scenarios in play whereas air strikes probably will but as was pointed out its easy to put in so it was a bad example for me to use. I will defer to you greater knowledge of the logisitics of adding such a weapon and if it would cause a years delay as you point out i can see the point of leaving it out as BF has to recoup expenses and a year generating no income from the game is notable. If it would delay the game for a year then i would not like that, so if someone had explained that to me initially i would of accepted it. Well the human race is a diverse thing and according to Jung we have different personality types so i guess mine doesnt chime with yours and yes i am a theatrical type of person, which has its upsides like being creative but also its downsides like being outwardly emotional which will by default irritate the opposite types to me, however i am not a sociopath and once the initial shock of having my desires thwarted wears off i can be as reasonable as the next reasonable guy but i can assure you its in my nature to let off steam when im pissed so i guess that may put off people of your personality type in getting involved in my ventures which is fair enough, one cannot please everybody and i dont try to as thats been a failing of mine in the past and leads to me berating myself for being disingenuous,
  17. Not sure what you mean by that but it looks like im going to have to use the air missions function in Normandy 44 to have air power in my operation at all without causing a mutiny
  18. I dont know, if it is to model AA in CMx2 then time is the only factor in its omission and given that people have been waiting a long time since it was hinted at im really curious to know why April is such an important time to release it as opposed to June the 6th.
  19. That fair enough, but if its not "impossible" to model in the CMx2 engine then "time" is the only reason to omit it and considering the length of time people have been waiting for this i cant see that any extra time would of been that bad unless its some esoteric reason that i am not privy to as i dont work in the industry, so if someone could explain to me why getting the game out in April rather than say June the 6th is so important i would be most gratefull as i dont like mysteries
  20. Well dont say things like "There's no counter to artillery. Shall we cut that as well?" thats just asking for a freak out. And while we are at it, im an emotional type of guy that likes to speak his mind so dont take it personally but if you are going to start defending what i think is indefensable you are going to get an honest and clear response from me .... but see im smiling now, im not freaking out now , i do calm down eventually but its in my nature to freak so you will have to forgive me.
  21. Fair enough but i still dont see how such a fundamental weapon like Light AA could be left out in a game with air strikes, can nobody see this, am i the only one that sees this ?
  22. Hang on, there was no counter to artillery in the real world apart from counter battery fire and hiding, well we "can" hide in CMBN and any fool can see why it would be impossible to model counter battery fire given the size of the battlemaps, but there is no historical or technical reason why there cannot be an AA weapon in this game as they have already shown it is possible in CMx1 so your reply just doesnt hold water im afraid and frankly you must be on the payroll to even consider trying to defend such a blinding oversight. However as im no programmer, if there is a technical reason why an AA weapon could not of been in this release i will back off, but using excuses like time just doesnt wash in my opinion.
  23. There are 11 types of axis half track so couldnt they have dispensed with one of them to build a FLAK 38 ? But to be honest this whole subject is ridiculous, i just cant see how anyone could not put at least one type of Light AA weapon in a game with Air strikes, i mean CMBN has been cooking for so long would whatever time it would take to build it have been so bad given the neccesity and prevelance of the weapon in a WW2.
