If I have a friend who is willing to let me shoot him down repeatedly, then ALL of the leader board stats are meaningless and broken. I could get thousands of kills with perfect Kills/Mission ratios. Shall we remove all of the leader board stats?

Try looking in the folder "C:\Program Files\Battlefront\Down In Flames\bin" and see if there are any error log files in there. If so, send them to difadmin@battlefront.com and I'll take a look.

If you are running on a Windows XP machine, try doing the following: 1. Right-click on the icon for "Down in Flames" and select the "Properties" menu item. 2. Click on the "Compatibility" tab and make sure the "Compatibility mode" check box is NOT checked. In fact none of the check boxes on this screen should be checked. If we were to do another expansion for Down in Flames, and that expansion could only have one new country, which country would you most want to see included?

The server is having problems. Some of it may be hardware related and some of it may be hacker related. Battlefront will probably be rebuilding it in the very near future. This may result in losing a day or two of data and the server itself may be down for a couple of days while it is being rebuilt. I'll post more information as it becomes available.

It mainly has to do with the starting point values of the aircraft and pilots involved. If you start out with an advantage in aircraft and pilot quality, then shooting down the opposing aircraft is "expected", so you don't win a "victory" for doing what was expected.

Sorry to keep adding on more questions, but each question helps me to home in on the problem a little bit more. Is the problem only when Fred and Dwanejj are the players involved? In other words, if Dwaynejj plays somebody else, and Fred plays somebody else, are you both able to connect and play campaign games with other players?

Have you and Fred tried creating a new campaign to see if the problem is with all campaigns or just something wrong with the campaign you started a few weeks ago?

Dwaynejj, I'm curious what you mean when you say that you changed your name from "knight2". Do you mean that you used to log into DiF as "knight2" and then you changed it to "Dwaynejj"? If so, did you change your login name while you were in the middle of a campaign? Is it just one campaign that is giving problems? If you start a new campaign with Fred, can you connect to it?

It must be a browser issue because I can still see the check box using Internet Explorer. I'm not sure why they would be different.

It sounds like you haven't registered the game yet. If you are having problems registering, send an e-mail to difadmin@battlefront.com with your user name and serial number.

The original idea is that we would do an Eastern Front expansion pack and then do a Med. Front expansion pack that would bring in Italy and France. It could still happen, but it isn't being actively worked on right at the moment.

If you don't have the expansion pack, you can still play against players who do have the expansion pack. What happens is you will see a "generic" aircraft instead of the actual aircraft animations. I think activity for online games has slowed down lately, but you should still be able to find opponents. Maybe some of the regulars can tell you if there are certain days of the week and/or times of the day that tend to have more people playing.

The skills list is misleading because the Target Pilot skill is not really expendable, but it is not exactly permanent either. When you use the Target Pilot skill, it does not get expended and go away to be repurchased. However, unlike other "permanent" skills, it does not increase in cost (or cause other permanent skills to increase in cost) when you purchase it. It is always 100 XP each time you buy it. Of all the skills, it is probably the most controversial because players hate losing their pilots.

As long as at least one Kamikaze aircraft survives, it should destroy the target. I'm not sure why that didn't happen in your case. Did anything unusual happen during the mission (errors, etc.)?

That is probably only temporary. Matt is in the process of backing things up in preparation for a reinstall. Unless Matt had a breakthrough in removing the crap the hackers put on the machine, I don't think we're out of the woods yet.

Impossible to tell who did it or why. Last time this happened was right after an update from Microsoft had been installed which contained a vulnerability. As soon as hackers learn that some vulnerability exists, they write programs that search the internet for servers with the vulnerability and exploit it. Chances are, thousands of servers are hit through this automated process and the Battlefront server just happened to be one of them. It is less likely, although possible, that someone specifically targeted Battlefront.

Yes. We will backup all the files and databases before wiping the server and reinstalling.

As some of you have probably noted, the server was up briefly yesterday but appears to be down again today. Matt is looking into it, but it is possible he will have to wipe the server and reinstall everything. If so, it could be down for several days. We'll keep you posted.

I just got word that Matt is working on it. Appears to be some kind of hacker attack causing problems.

I have notified the sys admin at Battlefront. Hopefully, they will have it back up soon.

I hadn't been able to reproduce the problem, but your description above gives me a better idea of what might be happening. I'll do some more investigation. Thanks.
