No the problem started first. Then I updated my driver, but it didnt fix the problem.I then had to roll back the driver to resolve issues with other games not working. The problem was still there. You know the rest.....

If all else fails, try reinstalling directX,it cant hurt.

  2. .....I saved my PBEM game because, in the middle of a long order phase, I wanted to replay the last movie (and this happens often to me)
Open two windows of CM.In one have the last movie file open,in the other the orders phase.Alt-Tab back and forth ;)

.....(and friendly fire is not so frequent as people thinks).
Couldnt agree more.I dont think I have ever had a airplane commit friendly fire against me while playing PBEM.Against the AI is a different story.
  3. Hello Gopblin,welcome to the forum smile.gif

Yes,the AI pretty much lives by the philosophy of "All the pretty flags are belong to us".The only thing the AI likes better than a victory flag is one that is in your possession. It will march, like zombies to the slaughter, until it is all used up.

It doesnt always work like this though, depends on how the scenario was setup by the designer and such.Sometimes the scenario doesnt get enough testing or what have you. Most are of top notch quality though.Speaking of scenarios and designers, any time you talk in detail about a scenario, you should always start off your post with something like this:

    ****SPOILERS about X scenario*****

    *

    *

    *

    *

    *

    *

Just so that you dont potentially ruin a scenario for someone that hasnt played it yet.No biggie though.

I am glad to see that you are wanting to start playing against people. That is where you will find the most challenge,as well as fun,IMHO.Send me a email and we can discuss something to play.

  4. It depends on situation, namely distance. If you were refering to the PzIV,I would try and duel at range, say 1000m,and hull-up.That way even if your overal chance to be hit goes up,it would be negated by the lesser chance to be hit at all over distance.

When it comes to the PzIV,regardless of distance,or hull-up/hull-down,it often comes down to simply being the first to score a hit anyhow. And with the better gun and long range optics that is what I'd go for.

  5. My experiences with CMBB and HMG34/42's is that if you place a cover arc AND tell the HMG crew to target the enemy squad on the road, the HMG crew will fire on the targeted squad until LOS with it is lost. Then it will sit there like a f'ing moron and watch the other squad(s) cross the road without firing a single shot.It will continue to do this until you re-issue the arc,or the HMG crew comes under fire from a closer threat,or the targeted unit comes back into LOS

One of my biggest pet peeves in CM.

Unlike trenches, foxholes are usually only spotted once the occupant opens fire. Trenches are visible from afar, and often attract pre-emptive bombardment, or are at least blinded with smoke.

So if you're aiming for the advantage of ambush, trenches are out of the question.

Not quite sure i agree with this. Yes, trenches are easily spotted if they are not in good coverage. I almost never put my trenches in anything besides woods or tall pines. Also you need to make sure the entire trench is in cover. Occupying trenches is also the best cover in the game(exposure percentage), even better when it's in woods/tall pines.

Now i'm pretty sure your exposure percentage to a given enemy target also influences when and how easily you get spotted. Not just how much shooting your doing. </font>

  7. Hello C'Rogers

You have some really good ideas for CMX2 operations(many in which I share),and I have hope and faith that BF.C will deliver a much improved quality product when CMX2 is released.

My main reason for the reply is to alert you to a "campaign operation" that is currently being attempted at MZO(just scroll down to the Combat Missions section and click on Combat Mission War Theatre

This is very similar to what you are talking about. It is multiplayer and all the generals on each side work together in strategy, reinforcements, tactics, etc, against the other side. There are several maps in which the battles may take place on,and the goal is to capture the enemy's supply depot, thus winning the campaign.

This is our first attempt at this, but I think it has alot of promise. It combines alot of the great ideas and features of both operations, and campaigns, while keeping the challenge of playing against people.Check it out,I know that the allied side could use another player smile.gif If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them.
