  1. I don't mind playing big battles with mutliple units, it usually gives me enough time to plan and execute tactics. However, it would be very very helpful if AI movement can be improved. Simply moving a column of tanks/troop along a road/path requires micro management of individual tank to make sure they all follow the path. That is a lot of mouse click. I was also very surprised at the Russian retreating with their back exposed when playing that battle. It certainly makes my job a lot easier.

Yes, my thoughts exactly, I love the idea of bigger battles but the micro managing just makes it tedious like a full time job of hearding cats around a map. If we are gona go big on maps and force sizes then give us more friendly ai support, like auto Ai road movement or some kind of rear area echelon movement handled by the ai. I wouldn't mind just telling an ai platoon to move north and as they move you could make adjustments as they go.

  2. I too love the game but hate the mega battles of the campaign. When I saw that cmrt was going to move this direction I was thinking it would have been nice to improve the infrastructure to support it. Like maybe platoon formation orders or select unit by movement path lines. It's like when a city finally developed that run down patch of land near your house but don't improve the roads so your happy about the rise in property value but complain about the traffic all day.

I guess I could just not play the campaigns but that will break the tradition, so I will probably grind through and only play company size from then on.

  3. Wow..... That's all you got..... Not really helping your debate with that last one. In fact you kind of proved my point. Truth be told war with the west is not good for any one. Just look how your economy did a nose dive with Obama just hinting at sanctions.

Personally I don't want to see a war with Russia because that will crush the further development of sims like Dcs world or 1c's IL2 battle for Stalingrad. This is what I mean by putin's saber rattling is not good for anyone. It just baffles me that you would support a leader like that, he doesn't seem to have your nations best interests in mind. It is a new world now and there is no place for an egotistical Cold War relic like Putin.

  4. Your delusional and this is why Russians like you allow Putin to be in power, he is not good for Russia or the west. The very reason you lost the Cold War still exists today, doesn't matter how good the t-90 or mig-29 looks on paper they have never been in combat and Russia can't sustain high quality standing armies economically. Your still relying on a conscript army driving t-72s, the Iraqi republican guard was a better match than a Russian motor rifle division, at least they were battle hardened veterans.

Oh and by the way, those middle easterners just so happened to kick your butts out of their country in the 1980s, where as we are still there on our terms.

  5. Don't forget scenario 2015 Russian army "Blitzkrieg on west", and winter 2015 without Russian gas.

The Russians might be able to turn off the gas but there will be no "blitz of the West" your as delusional as Putin. Your country can only put 50 t-90s into service and 2 dozen mig-29s, the bulk of your equipment is 30 year old tech, WTF is that gonna do against NATO / US ???

  6. German ppsh is a must. The ppsh were so popular that I'd say there should be a 50 % chance every squad has a guy ditch his k98 for a ppsh. I'd like to see the whole small arms thing revamped. SMGs are so vital due to the suppression they dole out that I just cringe every time the smg guy goes down. No way to recover that weapon as it stands now. I think we should be able to recover SMGs and ammo on the battlefield just like we do LMGs. Even enemy SMGs as well.

  7. I'm excited to finally get to the EF, been waiting since cmsf to get here. I'm curious about the viability of bulge as a full priced standalone. Makes more sense to make that a module for cmbn. You can already play bulge as a mod for cmfi GL, so I won't be getting it, I'm burnt on the bulge. BF will have to introduce some serious new features to get me to purchase a bulge game.

  8. If we can select units by waypoint path along with the adjustable waypoints we now have, it will not take much to give orders by platoon thus making large senarios more manageable.

The thing with other a totally different game, it's already been made, it's called command ops battles from the bulge. I think players keep treading into operational scale because bigger engagements are fascinating. I've played command ops, it's cool but it gets boring watching 2d chits slide around making combat sounds with little lines shooting back and forth. I'd love to see those boring command ops engagements come to life in CM 3d glory with pixletruppen moving about.

  9. I am recently playing through this campaign, I dig PT's idea of switching to the 3hr time limit if the player is having trouble. I actually have more fun using the 3 hours and playing through once with a victory rather than having to reload and replay senarios. I hate the time limits in the game in general, but PT's idea of a branching extended time campaign is cleaver and innovative.

  10. I'd love to see persistent map damage. What about core force import function to scenarios for board game campaign play. I mean the ability to save multiple core forces both friendly and opposing, view them in the editor, and import or export them to any scenario.

Also a copy past function for ai plans and groups.

  11. Yeah I guessed that would be a tall order, after following the random map discussion and the tinkering with the editor that I have done, it seems a random AI generator would be more effective than a random map generator. We have infinite amount of maps when you think of it, it's the AI plans that the QB needs help with the most. But something to think about for v4.0 or 5.0, I like the idea of the mega tiles in the mean time.

  12. Rather than programming the ui to scale up and down with all the different resolution configs, which is a hefty programming task, why not make the ui set to a 1080p or 1200p standard. Most people have widescreen monitors so the default should accommodate the most customers. Another option to fill the extra space could be to expand the orders pages so they are all open at once as well as the oob page and ammo / damage page. Plenty of room to show more of the ui.

  13. I know what you mean, but the average cm player might never touch the map part of the editor. Too tedious for most, that's why the idea of random maps is so appealing. A few clicks and presto, your own custom map to play with that has never been used, even if it is mediocre compared to the hand made.
