  1. My tank was Merkava 2B, only the newer Merkava has A/C, the Mk.3 and Mk.4.
  2. You know, many people think that Israel is a desert country, although 65% of Israel's land is a desert (200 mm of rain and less), most of the population does not live there, in thouse 65% live only 10% of the country's population. So israel is not as camels and tents like as you might think, it is not like that at all.
  3. And what about extreme heat?! My basic training was near Eilat, in south israel which desert, can you imagine 40 Celsius?! And inside a tank!?!??!?!?!!??!?! But it's getting even worst, during the "Gaza strip operations" we got about 36 celsius with near 90% humidity, which is hell on earth, only with tanks.
  4. I think i'll simply die! Last sammer i have been in central europe(Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland), anyway, i reached a hight of 2700 m' and i assume it was just under 0 celcius, and it was really cold, really!!!!!
  5. Not much snow in israel...but it could get really cold!!
  6. Here are the pictures! As you can see (or not) it was really cold!!! Here you can see some of the tanks taking position on the ramps, waiting for fire clearence. This is operational movment, you can see anti-tank obstcles on the both sides of the road. Here you can see the tank in a low position, just before the hull-down position.
  7. Hey all! I am now going to scan some pictures of my platoon in full scale war exercise, i'll soon upload them, stay tuned!!! Oren_m
  8. Ok Ok!! I got it finally! Diesel is kinda right, what you see are the screws which are holding the thermal sleeve from falling off... that's all! And if you ment the square thing on the very end of the main gun, it's a gun position indicator, it glows at dark and visible from a spesific angle, which is from the hatches of the turret. I'll try to scan a picture that will clear it out! Oren_m
  9. I think that i now understand what do you mean. What that you are looking at a place where you can attach a 0.50 machine gun, it's coax with the main gun, it is mostly used for simulating a main gun during tanker's basic training, it has almost no use in combat mode because it's very bad for the tank's silhouette. And by the way, it is not HK, it's IMI GALIL SR. Oren_m
  10. I dont understand what do you refer to by the thing on the main gun.... For the seconed question, it's not the range finder, it's the commander's episcope, it is not much in use, as you can see, it is covered.
  11. Here are some of the pictures! This one is in the villege of Yatta, south of city of Hebron, behind the bulding in the middle people are throwing stones and rocks on us, this is a brief moment of silince. This one is a little to the west, in a villege called Beit-Ulla, this is the northern entrance of the villege, we are meeting here with the sector commander and another tank from the paltoon. This picture is in a whole other place, it's in the northern part of the Gaza strip, in the town of Beit-Hanun, you can see in the middle of the picture, near the containers, a person looking at us, i assume that he was the one who shot at us later this day. This is our way out of Beit-Hanun in an armoured convoy, one of the APC's was lightly hit by a small demo-charge.
  12. I have'nt been in big armor battles, i was in service between the years 2000-2003, during the armed uprising of the palestinian forces in the occupied territorys (it is called "INTIFADA" in arabic), i participated in large anti-terror operations, just like thous in Iraq right now, and i tell you, it is not easy at all! 16 year old kids shoot at you with AK-47's and home make rockets, most of the movment is in urban area which is heavily booby traped...NOT FUN! As for you gato, the last tank sim i played was armoured fist, which is rubbish, and not raelly a tank sim. BOF is a very realictic sim, it raelly looks like a tank warfare...and that is good! If you guys want, i can scan some pictures i took while in the tank, and sometimes during combat... Oren_m
  13. Well i know that most of the people are really just "Heavy-metal fans" , but how many of us are really crew members, and how it is helping your gaming methods in BOF? I was a Merkava Mk.2B gunner, i and really find it useful in the gunner position, when you come up tank position and waits for the target to appear in your sights...really realiscit, it brings up some memories... Oren_m
  14. If there is one thing that i dont like (which means HATE) are people who write many letters which are un-needed, for example: Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaassssseee.... and so on. It really make me want to tear my arms!!!!! Oren_m.
  15. After all, the serbians are responsble for the Genoside in the Yugoslavian countries. I guess you could compare it to the Nazi side in the WW2 games....nobody really enjoy playing the Nazi side (unless.....)
  16. Well, when a tank gets hit it is possible that the ammunition in it will catch fire and explode, therefore, the crew must bail out of the tank as quickly as possible. The act of bailing out should take few seconeds in order to survive, and the best way to do it is with opened hatches. Oren_m.
  17. I saw that you have fixed it, nice pictures!
  18. Weeeeeee! But you know, the new screenshots are alarmingly similar to the previous ones that you have posted... am i wrong?
  19. I once saw a tank from my platoon, which during combat maneuvering training , has sunk in such a deep mud that we had to call in a D9 bulldozer to get him out, the mud almost reached the turret!!!
  20. Yes ,they are additional fuel tanks, but they have a little problem, they make the tank a little more flameble!
  21. Well, my tank never had problems with mud! Ha Ha!!
  22. Well i know that during the 2'nd world war, wooden logs were used for difficult muddy terrain crossing. The logs were placed across the muddy terrain and the tanks drove on them while avoding a direct drive in the mud.
