I played a QB the other day, where I ordered my infantry to attack a tank. Instead of shooting or throwing the quick, normal grenades. The squad threw up this small grenade, that, when zoomed in, had what *looked like* a little parachute on it, that slowly descended down onto the tank and killed it fast.
Am I hallucinating? What is this weapon? It was like a top-attack weapon that the infantry can throw.

And, hey, Mark's been registed on this forum for a year and a half, so I'm assuming he's been something of a lurker on this forum!

This same review shows up in two different sources: Computer & Video Games and DiscWorld.

If anyone is using an Nvidia card, the new 41.09 detonator drivers allow full Anti-Aliasing with Anisotropic filtering with the game. Makes the game looks absolutely fantastic.
The key (for me) is that you have to set the AA to 4XS (Direct3D only) as the Quincunx doesn't work right.

Boy, you got that right. Hilarious. After Steve, Charles, Moon and Matt, he must have been the first.Originally posted by Gyrene:It's official! AP HEAD wins the Ultimate Lurker Award!

Does everyone else, once the battle has ended, hit the "Go To Map" button and survey how many casualties each one of your units (and the enemys did), as well as other info?
I think it's fascinating, and kind of instructive on what units typically inflict what kinds of casualties.
You also see some interesting numbers. I had a single cavalry (infantry) platoon inflict 60 casualties on "Battle of Minors". Out of 198 total casualties. They were a crack unit, and in the front all day long. I was impressed. One SQUAD inflicted 21 casualties. Well done, boys!
What's the highest anyone's ever seen for a single infantry squad (not arty or HMGs, which are kind of expected to do this)??
I wish a patch would give a second screen with an OOB with the casualty figures, but clicking around is kind of a relaxing "run down" from the excitement of the game.

Maybe it was a conscript server with no HQ unit around.Originally posted by Coffin 'Enry:when I placed the order the message was that a confirmatory email would be sent shortly. Well 24 hours later and it hasn't arrived.

No, I don't use any mods. Is Zimmerit that anti-magnetic paint you could apply?Originally posted by Vergeltungswaffe:Sounds like Zimmerit.
Is it a mod?

I'd go for a Civil War treatment way ahead of Cold War.
It would be guaranteed to sell ten times better too, because nothing brings out the TRUE grogs like the Civil War!!

There's a texture on one of my Panzers that has like a second-texture on top of it, giving it a subtle, ridge-like "thick paint" look. Anyone seen this? What is it? Is it simply a micro-texture, or something else?

According to gamerankings.com, PC Gamer (US) gave CMBB a 90%. Anyone have it?

This happened to me too, and I usually have no problem.
I had to go into Tools>Internet Options>Privacy, and put my security down to "LOW" from "MEDIUM", and it worked. Afterwards, put it back to whatever it used to be.

It does though. I have a flat, blank scenario, where all I do is put 10 tanks of one kind against 10 tanks of another and see what happens. That KV-1 gets badly outshot by any Panzer/T34 available, at any range. It's like 3-1.Originally posted by jgdpzr:I could be wrong, but I don't think the KV-1 has a slow ROF. It has a three-man turret so target acquisition/fire coordination should be superior to the T-34/76. Perhaps the game considers it to have a cramped turret so it penalizes ROF, but I haven't noticed that to be the case.[/QB]

I'd go with the latter.Originally posted by MikeyD:It might be fun... then again it might not.
It's just micro-management to the extreme.
-
Modern wars are so reliant on airpower and long distance precision bombing that the actual tactical infantry/armor stuff might be kind of secondary, and that's CM's forte.

A little disingenious to edit and paraphrase Mikey's quote to make it suit your needs, isn't though Griffin?

You can get a white, area-fire line to the "target" the same way.Originally posted by MikeyD:I've got the occasional firing on a yellow line, myself. I interpreted it as 'firing on unidentified object', something a jumpy gun crew is liable to do. Maybe its a bug, maybe its a glitch, but it's also historically accurate!

There's some issues of color on those firing lines. It doesn't seem to affect anything really, and it's not common. I get a purple line every now and then.

Do you mean the IS-2, Terrapin?</font>Originally posted by Tarqulene:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />
122mm?
The KV1 has a 76m gun.

(Humph! Absolutely NOTHING! Say it again!)
If there's a choice in a QB between getting a T34/85 and any late war KV-1, does anyone pick that KV-1? I think it's absolutely useless.
Yeah, it has a huge gun (what is it? a 122mm?), but it's ROF is MOLASSES SLOW. I mean, A PzIVD gets off like FOUR shots for every one of the KV-1's shots. It doesn't stand a chance in the engagement ranges you usually see in CMBB.
Can anyone use this tank effectively in the game? How?

This is what I do too. I don't trust Follow Vehicle, and simply give them a Fast order to the tank, and they go from there.Originally posted by First Mate Detrius:One of my tactics is to have a few HMG/LMG suppressing his infantery. His Tanks either stop or contiune...either way I have a couple of squads Fast Move/Run within 30/25 metres of the tanks.
This works as a DREAM!
I've had good luck with Molotovs, they work alright for me. But I think the grenade bundles work the best (I've never seen a satchel used yet, maybe I don't pick the right units).
The best part is watching the tank crew bail out, crawl for cover, and get shot by my tank-killer squad. Pretty believable.

Not only can conscripts not use cover arc. Conscripts cannot ADVANCE or ASSAULT. Why this isn't mentioned in the manual (I have the book) is beyond me. I thought it was a bug the first time I saw it, and actually did a save file on it, before realizing what was happening.
I think conscripts are considered troops that are lucky not to be tripping over their own feet.

Well, you get all the tables in a handy readable format. I'm one of those people who likes a nicely formatted hardcopy.
In addition, CMBB is the best game out there, so why not gleen as much as you can. It's only $15 after all.
