considering the speed of progress, they could post back to you that a quantum computer was necessary and it wouldn't cause a ripple in this forum beause either the development of such a computer or the absolute entropy of the universe are likely to take place well before the release of campaigns
-
on why exactly this forum exists
-
it doesn't run as one continuous movie, which is what i suspect most are thinking of when they talk about wanting to run the turns back on a battle as a movie
-
Good to hear you figured it out!

Welcome to the forum just the same Jim!

yeah, you're right, at 4 years and counting taking 5 minutes to do an update in this forum on the status of the game would really slow things downOriginally posted by K.A. Miles:Cool it, easytarget, and let these guys do their job.
Do you want updates, or the game?
-
what everyone hitting this forum is looking for is a status update and possibly a really rough eta
how about it?
-
nope, and unlike the saying, no news in this case is probably bad news
-
and waiting, and waiting...

believe it or not, gasp, there are a few of us that actually still play CMBO
-
sorry, don't recall one seeing one
best i can do is suggest SD2 (scenario depot 2)
http://www.the-scenario-depot.com/index.html
although i must admit i'm pretty underwhelmed by their selection for cmbo - used to be thousands of them at SD
actually come to think of it, i wouldn't waste my time checking SD2 - i just looked, took me all of 2 seconds to confirm there's nothing there for CMBO to speak of - shame
just reminds me how much i miss SD
-
so, about that update...
-
congrat ales,
you killed the only thread w/ any life in this entire forum
someone closely connected to CMC do us all a favor and post an update on what's going on please

i've recently fired up a bunch of BO games here:
http://www.theblitz.org/index.php
if you're looking for some opponents, jump on the ladder and start firing off some emails at others on the bootcamp ladder
before you know it you'll have as many BO engagements going as you want
-
the brits were para's, and while it's true you get more with an american infantry platoon, i didn't think they were as well suited for the bldg fighting we'll be doing a lot of - but no matter, i'll use them at longer ranges and hold the other para's in reserve till things get in close
as for the arty, the 81mm spotter for the american's comes with 200 rounds - nothing on the brit side goes that high - admittedly this isn't the sort of arty that does a lot of damage, but i wanted to send a couple minutes worth into a certain area i thought was the most obvious approach and still have some left in case i was wrong
btw, kettler, i thought about letting BFC know, but figured it didn't much matter because BO isn't supported now anyway - so intead i figured i'd just ping those that still play and see if anyone recalls ever having this happen
anyways, i know i'm still playing cmbo - it's the only thing i play on the blitzkrieg ladder...
-
fyi, the reason why it stands out as so obvious when you load up and see the change is the base colors for the units was different
i've got base colors turned on just to help me see where everything is at
-
yeah, that would occur i suppose to anyone reading the description as a possibility
but no, that's not what happened
the time between the placement turn and first move turn was same day (if there had been a lag of several days or i had multiple battles que'd up in PBEM Helper, sure, it could of gone down that way)
but there was no change between purchase and placement - it was between placement, and first turn movement
-
they could, but it would draw them away from current project work
support for cmbo ended long ago, which is a pity
i'd buy the game again at full price if it featured the latest revisions in CMAK
expect the next post to be someone yammering on about CMAK conversions of CMBO battles
/rolls eyes

is it that no one has ever has this happen?
or no one reads this forum any more?
or perhaps both?
-
including the 86% stat itself

I've been playing my brother and a few friends in CMBO quick battles for years, and something a wee bit different happened in the latest one.
My brother set up a town battle, and thinking that i'd be doing a lot of building fighting I ordered up some brit paratroopers who looked to have pretty good close in firepower (no, this isn't an invitation to head off on the inevitable best type of unit discussion, although I won't be surprised if that happens anyway).
We exchange initial set up turns, everything going according to plan, until I get the first minute of movement orders, open up the turn only to discover that 2 of my platoons have taken it upon themselves to morph into American infantry units.
Now this is a brit force, except for an arty spotter that's American. And I've mixed and matched up American and Brit forces in quick battles in the past no problem.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else out there has ever had units just up and change into something else during a PBEM battle? Because it strikes me as pretty damn strange. Not to mention a wee bit annoying since I was trying to avoid plain old American infantry for a reason specific to the nature of the battle.

my 2 cents would be realistically we'll never see hundreds or even thousands of the scenarios originally posted at SD on SD2 unless someone other than the original author's put them up there...
-
anyone know where i can find soft grid lines for cmbo?
not positive that i want to run them all the time necessarily, but it has occured to me on a few occasions that my view of the terrain isn't always the best and this might help
i know for a fact it did in CMAK, with all the desert i had no idea where the dips in the terrain were
-
agreed
but that potentially means many of the older ones (i.e. CMBO) are effectively gone forever if the author's have moved on to other things...
Any Updates?

don't know if the 3 people who frequent this forum have noticed, but at this point you guys are in a dead heat with the original cmbo forum for which has the least number of active posts in it
but don't worry, i'm sure that's not a sign or anything
