By all means, you're free to comment, just as I'm free to point out you are wasting your time, and by you, I mean both sides of this useless argument.

Sarcasm is such an intellectually lazy superficial form of humor.
-
This thread is just as pointless as the ones complaining about this.

i want video evidence of this, haha

I like how manly the term iron is, tells me how serious you take your combat mission.
Btw, If you really want to man up for some pain, the kind that would entail never winning a single engagement, ever, in your entire life, fire up any of the following chess programs: Fritz, Rybka, Shredder, Junior or Hiarcs.
-
And I'd like it if you would put more effort into your trolling, one liners like the two above really don't qualify as even halfhearted attempts. If you're going to bother to sign up to the forum just to do this, have the decency to put some effort into it.

The Germans got zerg'd, so?

Not trying to be rude... but did you bother to read the manual?? Alot of the basics are covered with tips in the tutorial missions.
Can't believe no one mentioned to actually look at the UI to see your units status... It tells you everything there as far as morale damage C2.
Use target arcs to cover a specific Cone you want to shoot at or hold shift while using it and it will make a radius of cover.
check these out too the tactics series:
Chill out, answers to these questions, in fact any questions raised in this forum about game play, are read by more people than you think and are therefore always useful discussions.
In fact I'd go so far as to call them the Pièce de résistance of this forum, and/or Raison d'être.

Hey all, stopped by to say happy holidays as well!

Someone needs to look up old screenshots of Hidden & Dangerous and the original Medal of Honor. If CMBN looks like that, you need to re-configure you graphical settings.
Failed attempt at playing apologist on behalf of comically bad graphics.
-
CM looking and functioning like that is probably about 15-20 years into the future. I'd put the current state of CMs graphics, as a whole, at about a 2002 level.
That's being generous really. I'd date them further back than that. CM graphically and interface design wise is latter part of the 90's at best, really truly comically bad.
These forums are a chalk full of folks playing apologist for every single item called out about the game, that's the nature of developer hosted web sites. And as it should be I suppose.
But anyone who has played a wide variety of games over the last decade knows full well that CM hasn't made it into this century yet.

Has the "stand alone" v1.10 patch been released yet?
Just what I stopped in to find out myself...

Yeah for insurance companies. People like you make me laugh.

If the tactic is really effective, much more so than IRL, then perhaps it can be considered "gamey". If it is not then it is just a stupid waste of a resource.
so your test for gamey is based merely on how effective it is? really?
how about this, if the tactic would never happen in real life because no one would give or follow that order, i.e. recon by suicide, then it can be reasonably posted up for consideration as gamey, certainly open to pre-battle agreement about whether both sides are ok with it at the very least
and for those who are sporting the relativism argument that posits one man's gamey is another man's tactics, i find your position interesting, because you go to such great pains to find and play a game focused rather intently on realism, and then chunk it at point of contact
-
I'm fine with gamey as long as there is a reasonable counter to it.
A rushing Jeep is so easily prevented from doing its thing that it barely rates as gamey.
Hardly, in wooded areas I can drive jeeps from cover to cover all over the freakin map w/o being hit, merrily observing **** everywhere I went. Amazing how fast they move on quick.

I smile every time i see the term "click fest" thrown around. It's all relative. I play and appreciate a broad spectrum of RTS games. And this game moves way to SLOW to be a click fest. Your mind can still beat a person who has high clicks per minute. You just have to be able to adapt on the fly. Wego style IMO is more of a movie style of playing. You can appreciate the little things more playing that mode.
And I smile every time I see anyone, anywhere, use S when talking about RT.
The world is over populated with RTS's, so for us old timers the irony isn't lost on us that one of the few (if only) companies making turned based strategy games (who I might add we can quote straight out of their own manual from CMBO what they think of RTS), would then waste a decade cranking them out. Wrong game type and the wrong war. Wasted decade.

You could just grab the CMBN demo and see for yourself, nothing replaces first hand experience.
-
There's more than enough room under my gaming tent for a wide variety of games, and a levels of realism.

This forum is an enabler for wasting a lot of time about small inconsequential things.
It's evil, step away before it's too late.

Interesting question. If this is an image you are restoring, it would, it seems to me at least, be back in the state it was before the crash, only on a new replacement drive, not sure how the activation process works exactly, but seems to me it would have a hard time knowing the difference between the before and after states of this image.
-
I'm alt-tabbed out of CMBN right now, running a browser and steam with a couple other incidental small programs on the side, and task mgr is showing me at 34% on physical memory and I'm running 6GB of RAM.
So, i'm currently using up 2GBs doing this. Don't know if adding another GB for you would help much or not, XP can address another GB, so if you've got the slot and can add it, why not.
If this is a cost vs performance consideration, I don't know that it would make all that much difference in game play, certainly not as much as other options like a faster proc or better vid card.
Oh, and the short answer to your question, I don't exactly know how much RAM CMBN uses, but i'm sure someone will be along shortly who knows exactly. No doubt Red Wolf.

I'm disappointed that BFC killed off the need for hexes in ww2 simulations.
That was harsh. Put some people out of jobs it did.

The "feeling a might peckish" sounds like one of the last lines from the movie version of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, as I recall it was spoken by the ever so adorable Zooey Deschanel.

Ok, but what's the answer to his question:
Isn't it a little strange that mortars can use radio from a vehicle regardless of their c2 link but can't use radio of their Company HQ?
