Borg,
So, even though the file still says H2H in its name, you downloaded it and found that playing as allies there is an enemy AI in place now?

The Thin Red Line.

Impressive link to a private video no one can view.

The original Xcom as Tagge mentions above.

Congratulations on answering a question no one asked.

Single player. Only college students, the retired and the unemployed have the time necessary to make MP work.

Yeah, they're soooo unrealistic. All the (literally) countless times the algorithms get it right* in every game are for naught because in one or two cases they can't cope. Are they perfect? No; is anything? Does overstating your case make it more convincing? No.
* or close enough for Government work
Does being an ass make you convincing as an apologist? No

An unintentional byproduct of the module approach BFC has taken w/ CMx2.

Read that one earlier today, nice catch. I rather like RPS.

This thread discussing whether customers have an obligation to create content for the games they pay for is text book Stockholm syndrome.

Always amazes me how often this forum forgets this is a game.

I had AVAST stop the file from downloading, fixed that by temporarily telling it to lay off.
After that the installs went fine, both btw were located on a drive other than C:\, so not sure why you'd see trouble getting it to update when/if the game was located on another drive, the updates for me have had no trouble locating my installation location.

Use ATGs properly on the defensive and they can be effective. Expect them to dominate a battlefield used in singletons from open fields, and don't be surprised when they fail.
Ah yes thanks for explaining it, the problem everyone has is as a result of using them improperly and harboring expectations they could dominate open fields with them. Got it. This is just an improper setting of expectations.
Whereas anyone fielding an ATG would expect it to do something, the solution is to re-set those expectations and expect nothing and thereby become happy and completely satisfied when those expectations are repeatedly met.
I feel better now.

This, definitely this.
I'd love to play SP scenarios and provide feedback, but I swear, the repository is the single biggest joke in the history of databases.

I haven't noticed any difference in performance. I set it up for the same reason, lots of games loaded through steam and lots of people I know and regularly chat with are on it.
-
Since the reviewer was kind enough to share his views, I was kind enough to share mine regarding his intelligence.

Which is not to say of course that anyone going to trouble to make AI opponent scenarios should abandon them based off forum input alone and decide it's not worth the trouble.
Forum regulars for all games are notorious for their convictions they speak for everyone and are through sheer volume of posts representative of the majority.

Does this mean an app for tablet/smart phones, not PC?

This to me makes the entire project a non-starter.

Very cool. Thanks for posting up those pictures of it.

That is one very impressive looking map, nice work.
Looks like the type of place where point blank encounters in a scenario would be common place. Turn a corner, walk out of a building, boom.
Setting the objectives would be critical piece of the puzzle to get right seems to me.
Anyway, again, very nice work there Umlaut.

Very good, thanks for the additional explanation, I'll continue to play around with it and get accustomed to it and I'm sure it will work out fine.
Btw, if you don't mind one additional question, I've not picked up CMFI yet, does it work with the same purchase screen lay out I assume as CMBN?
-
Thanks btw for the responses everyone, greatly appreciated. I really just wanted to make sure it wasn't user error that caused me to miss the info I used to get about units in CM1.
More often than not it is in fact user error! haha

Indeed. It's a large step forward from the method used in the Shock Force titles though, which had far less (i.e. zero, AIUI) option to customise your force. BFC are keen that the core of your force have some connection to historical reality; not only does the interface "resist" just picking the forces you want, it gives positive incentive to use Formations, as there's a large premium per unit purchased individually. There's an overhead per Formation, too, but for vehicles, if you want more than 3 that could be bought as a single formation, it's cheaper to buy the formation. Similarly for infantry teams that have direct analogues within formations.
I appreciate their "keenness", they aren't mutually exclusive features. When I'm in a position with few points at my disposal, I want to buy want I want to buy. To tell me I'm wrong amuses me I'll admit.
-
Right, I've got that part (purchase formation delete process), the missing piece is the loss of the ability to highlight over what I'm hand picking and see some cursory data about the units.
And I'm aware of the pricing discrepancies caused by formation purchase vs individual, just another element of the interface in my opinion working against the way I want to interact with it, which is hand pick what I want.
Repository Question

Is it possible to download a list of what is currently available at the repository?
I find it a bit of a challenge to run through what's available in the current format and thought perhaps one easy solution would to have a download option that just dumped a list (with whatever parameters are contained about them of course in the database) to say an excel file?
That way you could more easily sort it to see what might be of interest. I sort of currently have to know what I'm looking for, in which case the search feature works just fine, otherwise I just scroll down the pages seeing a handful and then going on to the next page. Feels like I'm missing some possible gems and the hard work of the folks that made them might be for naught as their scenarios are lost in the shuffle which would be a shame.
