1) SC series is awesome. There's not alot of micro-management relative to other games. The playing menus and such are easy to pick-up on and intuitive.
2) Yes, you pick between different types of units. I'm old school, still using the 2D with classical views. I'm sure there are ppl here that have made their own too.
3) There's reseach trees and such (huge topic) of course. The standard default system works well. There's also an editor if you want modifications.
Personally, when I game, I don't want a homework assignment or project. It's about playing, making up strategies, etc.

SeaMonkey made quite the comment. "Allowing" controled Partisan activity is great for experience building. I'm an experience hound too.
Failing to address partisans typically will not hurt, but when it does, major problems can occur.

Egypt can be had with limited forces. Couple Panzers & air support will do the trick.
Place some Rockets in Sicily for some fun, maybe some Air, great training material.

Don't waste your time with iceland, nor worry about "Air" in the Battle of Atlantic. It's all about getting some sub tech, build a wolfpack, and surprise. One of my favorite game moves, although to win, just crush Russia.

Sharky, well in that case, welcome! Make sure to register your vehicles at the local DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles)! I was recently fined $150 for failing to renew my boat license. It's deer season now, you're allowed to kill one & only one. I've only gone once so far this season, missed with my bow, I'm not that good of a shot, which may surprise you. Haven't tagged one in awhile. I prefer bird & elk hunting. Mostly go bird hunting, because my dogs love it.

Yes Rambo. This game is way to long and I still have a hard time figuring out what to do with japan.
Being the allies I know what to do with Japan. I played three games and all three times I set up for an early invasion of Japan and took em out.
If there was only a auto play for any country people did not want to play with.
This game is too big. I miss more moves than ever. I would love it if the computer could take over Japan on any given turn.
Let me give you a hint: Rising Sun, Toro Toro Toro.

Greetings Brandenburgers, congrats on your tournament achievements, you've made The Fritz's very proud. Haven't played in ages, maybe a year since I would game during my long travels conducting business. Couple modification games, but nothing against the Hun.
Now that your new Baron Von Ricttoff (aka the Red Baron) appears to be Dragon99, it will take a plan from the Great Pumpkin to stop the 10, 20, 30, 40 or more. The Euros & Teutons have begun their gaming conquest of the world, as fat Americans shop at Walmart while texting on their Dumbing (Smart) Phones.
Yes, Dragon99, you quickly dished out the Heinie on me, smashing my forces in grand style. My expectations was another unworthy opponent, but I underestimated your power. Your game is on the top of the world, while mine has been in the closet.
With Thanksgiving & Christmas coming (praise God & His Son) maybe I'll return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Oddsmaker would have my return like Randy Couture & we know what happened on his last fight...a frickin' headkick to the face, knocked a teeth, and ended him in a violent fashion.
I've always want to be a Rhine Monkey, so I'll need to talk with my trainer, and Camp to see if they'll be another Rambo movie.
