  1. I've just installed CMAK and the first thing that caught my attention was those superb Marder IIIr and Hs! So much better than the Marder III in CMBB! I would love to see them adjusted to CMBB by someone. The landscape is very nice as well. Just a first impression, but I had to ventilate my enthusiasm about those Marders! Excellent stuff.

  2. The Norton files aren't really backups, they are copies of the files before they were changed and saved again. In theory that way I can always turn back changes. The parameters I've changed are the following. I've changed the attacker from Canadian to German and the direction from which they would attack from North to South. That's all. I usually play huge scenarios and even with 200% for one side (which this wasn't) I've never experienced any problem. I will do some tests by closing as many programs as possible, but I doubt whether that will make much difference. Still, it's worth trying, I agree. I will come back with the results tomorrow. Thanks again for your help.

  3. Yes, the scenario has the maximum amount of units.I played it many times on this pc before.I can't change the parameters since I can't edit the scenario anymore. However I did reinstall earlier copies of the scenario (an option with Norton Utilities that I often used), so the old parameters should be restored that way.

I use the standard BTS/BFC 1.12 version. I use CMMOD and do have lots of mods installed. I haven't changed video or audio drivers. Thanks for your attention, Schrullenhaft.

  4. Sorry, I did forget to mention that it is CMBO. It's a pretty big scenario, which I adjusted and played many times before. Before the problems began I changed some minor issues in Parameters. With Norton Utilities I also tried to install earlier versions of the scenario, since I feared the scenario file might have become corrupted or something, but no success. Help would be highly appreciated, since I've put a lot of time and energy in this scenario.

  5. I'm not so sure the Western Allies would have won. The Soviets had learned quite a lot against the end of the war and their ability to wage war would have been a nasty surprise. Everybody who has studied the fighting on the eastern front, especially from mid-1943 on, knows that the Russians would have been formidable enemies. I think they would have been a lot tougher than their American/British opponents. Britain was already weary of war in 1944 and I doubt whether Churchill or anyone else for that matter, could have convinced them of taking on Stalin (or Uncle joe, as western propaganda use to call that psycho). And whether American opinion would have accepted tens of thousands of dead GI's also remains very uncertain. The Red Army would probably have reached the English Channel and Western Europe would have bombed back into the stone age. The only soldier tough enough to stop the Soviets would have been the German Landser. Whether he still had the strength to do so in 1945 is doubtfull.

And I also don't understand the admiration for Patton. His achievements most certainly do not impress me. I think Zhukow, Konev and many other Soviet military leaders would have kicked his... And believe me, I hate to say something positive about the Red Army.

  6. No demo yet. The game is still in development (they have been working on it for years). Only some screenshots on their website with more to come very soon. But just take the time to read the messages on the forum and you will appreciate that this is going to be one excellent wargame. Large maps, lots of units (division strength) and very realistic battle behaviour. I'm not sure but the release date will probably be the end of this year, or the beginning of 2004.

  7. Since it will be no competition for Combat Mission (more comparable to Steel Panthers, but much more advanced), and will have the same high standards of realism I would like to ask some attention for this game at www.combatleader.net

Combat Leader will be a much, much improved version of Steel Panthers World at War and will focus on the eastern front, but other modules will be added latter on.

The information provided on the forum www.matrixgames.com/forums is very detailed and comparable to those on this forum. However for the sake of the development more expertise is needed in the form of healthy advise and criticism. I would like to ask those people who have this expertise to help the developers of Combat Leader with their comments, since this is another great wargame coming up and we all know how few there are around. I hope it is allowed to make some propaganda for this game, but I have the strong feeling that this new game will benefit from expert comments (they ask for it frequently, but for me the discussions are simply to complicated most of the time).

  8. I know I should post this in the Tech forum, but I don't get any response there. I have the following problem. I choose one of the huge scenarios, play as Germans, put the play balance for the Russians on 200%. Now this usually works, but sometimes the games simply freezes right after selecting 200%. When I select 200% for my own side (the Germans) I never have this problem. I know my system can handle this (it did so many times before), but from time to time I get this strange problem. Does anybody recognize this and even more important, is there an explanation/solution?
