  1. When I saw the pictures I recalled a topic quite a while ago in which Dandelion and you, JasonC (if I'm correct) explained to me how the German tactics for street fighting developed during the war. 'Demolition teams' with explosives, blasting their way from house to house. The Germans no doubt had learned their lesson by september 1944. At the same time more or less the same sort of street fighting took place in Arnhem. Those poor Polish men and women had to learn the hard way. No, they didn't stand a chance, that's for sure. On the other hand, I wouldn't like to walk around with a tank of high explosive fuel on my back and some eager Polish snipers around...
  2. I regret that there are so few winter mods available for the Pz IVH and J. Although I know about Dey's and Bogdan's mod (great work, don't get me wrong) I would love to have whitewashed mods for the Pz IVH and J like Canon used to make them (I've got them all and they look great). Is anybody working on or planning for such mods? It would be HIGHLY appreciated.
  3. When I saw these pictures I suddenly did regret that there are so few clear pictures (left) about the fighting in the last stage of the war in the east, especially in cities like Berlin, Königsberg, Breslau and so on. It is always difficult for me to imagine how it must have been in that stage of the war. Although most defenders of the German cities weren't nearly as well equipped as the German troops in Warsaw in August-September 1944, they did put up a fight worthy of remembering. I regret that the last stand of all those men and boys of the Wehrmacht, HJ and Volksturm hasn't been documented as well as most other battles of the war, probably because the fighting was too fierce and the whole system of PK reporters was crumbling as well and lots of other reasons. Finally this site also made me realize the courage of those Polish men and women in the sewers, I salute them. [ September 17, 2005, 10:46 PM: Message edited by: Aragorn2002 ]
  4. A friend of mine did sent me this link to a Polish memorial site on the Warsaw uprising in 1944 with some rather interesting pics of German soldiers in action. Some of them I've seen before, some of them are new to me. Especially the street fighting and flamethrower pics are interesting. http://wilk.wpk.p.lodz.pl/~whatfor/niemcy%20_w_powstaniu_foto.htm
  5. Nice, what about the 251/2 and 250/11 in hasty whitewash, UnclTgt? Would be very appreciated.
  6. And he is ours...my prrrrrrrrrecioussssss.... [ September 14, 2005, 10:50 AM: Message edited by: Aragorn2002 ]
  7. David, alternate netting for the 88 would be superb. But do not let yourself get rushed by greedy little gamers like myself. On my nr. 1 mod request list for CMBB would be a winterised Pz IV H and J (Bogdan's mods are nice, but a little too 'dirty' for my taste). For CMETO it would definitely be a camouflaged 88. 8. Excellent, David, thank you very much. Boy, wouldn't a 88 in the same camo pattern be a pretty sight...?
  9. Don't want to sound ungrateful ,David, but that photo ain't very sharp, is it?
  10. Great stuff, Panther Commander, thanks! I'm looking forward to the long autumn evenings again...behind my pc. I've got at least ten or more battles and one operation I still have to play. I'm very happy that great battles and operations keep coming up. What would Battlefront be without people like you, GeorgeMc & Charlie and many others who continue to make superb scenarios? 11. If it's not Normandy they would be very, very, very stupid....
  12. That must be the understatement of the year... great battles, very challenging.
  13. Black Max, no, definitely more than 3 King Tigers involved. Pocketrocket, it might be the one. But the name doesn't ring a bell, nor can I find it in my scenarios file, where it must be. Are you sure about the name?
  14. Shmavis, I have the scenario you've mentioned and it isn't what I'm looking for. Thanks for your offer to send it. Junk2drive, it ain't one of POS scenarios either. I know I must have it somewhere, just can't find the darn thing. I know from the briefing it is all about LOS and keeping each other covered, while fighting their way through a village. Just Tiger II's, no escorting infantry or whatever. Ah, well, that's what you get from downloading all scenarios you can get your hands on. Sometimes I think I can play CM till the end of times. And that's about the biggest compliment there is to a pc game, if I may use that unworthy description for this superb series. [ August 26, 2005, 12:35 AM: Message edited by: Aragorn2002 ]
  15. Hmmmm, I don't think it is, Shmavis. My recollection of the battle is different, different briefing and so on.
  16. Some time ago I've downloaded a battle for CMBB. It was about a company of King Tigers, that had to cross through a village, defended by the Russians, and re-assemble behind that village. No German infantry, just King Tigers. For the life of me I can't find this battle anymore in my scenarios file. Can anyone tell me the name of this battle?
  17. Well, since they are well trained, but do not have any experience, I gave them the status of veterans, which is the best I can do for them. Any better would be unrealistic. I did consider to reduce the quality of the Firefly gunners, but the British gunners were good and I gave them the status of regulars, which perhaps doesn't do them justice. But it's allright, I will experiment on and of course heavy losses on the German side are exactly what they should be. In reality they hardly did get the chance to fire a shot. Perhaps I can change the situation a bit more by sending the Panzergrenadiere ahead of the tanks, so they can help to identify the Fireflies and six-pounders in an earlier stage, so the Panthers can protect their flanks better. You've got to love this game, it feels so realistic that sometimes I feel I'm watching history, instead of a game.
  18. UncleTgt, I was afraid of that, thank you for confirming it. CMAK does have a Pz V early and I'm using it now. My only problem with that is that the Pz V A early doesn't have the same optics as the Pz V A. I was hoping to give the 3rd Panzer Company some better odds. At the moment their shooting doesn't impress me. I think I will use the Pz V A without skirts instead. Sorry for being such a perfectionist and thanks for your patience
  19. UncleTgt, thank you. In my previous post on this subject I made a bit of a mess of it. What I meant to say is that I would like to have a PZ V A with skirts (so NOT the PZ V A EARLY version with skirts) in Lucky Strikes camo pattern (12th SS). At the moment the PZ V A doesn't have skirts. Can you perhaps tell me how I can re-number the BMP files, so I can have a PZ V A (not the early A version) with skirts if possible? I've tried it, but can't figure it out.
  20. I have the following problem. When I try to install the Winterfahrzeuge Dunkelgrau mods with CMMOS it doesn't install them. When the 75mm IG is busy to install I get the message 'incomplete zip file'. I've installed all mods again (downloaded all again), but it doesn't work. Can anyone tell me what seems to be the problem?
  21. Uncle Tgt, in CMBO there were two tricolour 'rough' mods of Pz V's by Lucky Strike, with the camouflage pattern as used by the 12th SS Panzer. You were so kind to convert the Pz V A, but not the Pz V A Early (with skirts). These two versions (the A and A early) use exactly the same camouflage pattern. I would appreciate it if you would consider also to convert the A early (with skirts) . I'm working on a Norrey battle and the skirts (as shown in Bernages book) would give it a nice authentic feeling. And you are right, Gurra's recent Panther mods are great. As you will understand, UncleTgt, this is just a request, I fully understand if you have other things to do. No problem.
  22. Funny enough I was also about to send you an e-mail, Uncle Tgt, about the German Panther VA tank mod. It uses Lucky Strike's excellent Panther VA tricolour "rough" mod, as you mentioned in the included text file. Is there any chance perhaps that you will also do the Panther V A Early, with the skirts? From CMBO to CMAK that is?
  23. Very nice. I only changed the old trees back. The new trees look great, but they don't give me the 'Normandy'-feeling.
  24. I've just installed them...speechless...this is ART.
