  1. Me and my Dad been playing this game since it came out. We've played from both sides many times and won from both sides. Now we seem to have developed a strategy by which the axis player can no longer win. Basically, the UK and France keep every air unit they have in france, and keep them supplied and reinforced. Since the axis player can only attack a unit from 2 sides, at best 3, they must use air units to break out. Even when investing all they have in new airgroups they don't have enough to get the job done. Since we've learned this, neither of us can come close to breaking through French lines and the games are WWI games now. I've blitzed denmark and norway for cash, built airunits, but Dad still has more than I do and there's no way I'll break through to France. Our last 8 games have been this way, w/ me and Dad both trying all we can think to try as the Axis, but the Axis simply cannot break through this defensive strategy. So what's the deal? Anyone have a brilliant idea?
  2. You are obviously not a scholar of history. Many of us here, are. Guess they had bright red nazi flags all over every single shutzenpanzer right? And it would be inaccurate to mod one any other way. bull****. Its clear ppl are just glamorizing nazi crap. Have fun w/ your swastikas I think I'll go find something else to play.
  3. Funny how ppl decorate all their **** w/ swastikas. There's no reason for it. Then you act like Rein is the one w/ a problem. Whatever You should see how much Rein promotes CM in all the other BBS he visits. He loves this game. He loves it so much he risks getting banned so the nazi boys won't take over. If you can check by email (i have no idea), you'll see I've purchased games from battlefront. Have fun nazi boys. Plenty of good games out there I'll stay away from these. Ban me too see if I give a ****. I won't be back anyway. Bye. Admin you are an ass.
  4. I would like a hotkey I can press to bring the selected unit up to full strength.
  5. What do you do if a blonde fro's a grenade at you? Pull out the pin and fro it back.
  6. I see ppl complain about too many air units. My question is: How do I break fru a line w/out air power? Especially in a situation where I can only attack from 2 sides. Massing air units and hammering a unit until it evaporates may be gamey, I just don't see any other way to do it.
  7. I'd like to see British bombers start the game at L1, and American at L2. I think this would be more accurate from an historical standpoint as well I agree w/ that because US and British heavy bombers were better than German designs. So there should be a way for the US/Brits to start w/ bombers that are superior to the German counterpart. But bofe should start out at L1 because I don't think the US bombers were much better than the lancaster. I could be very wrong of course.
  8. No offense intended, but is this meant to be sarcastic? It would be very easy to beat computer AI set on easy probably--even if you play Axis. Ya, I'm being sarcastic. One fun thing to do is to play on very easy level as the Allies. I can then make a conscious choice to spend only a tiny fraction of Soviet production points but all of US production points and thus create a mighty US juggernaut of Wanker and Bugger tank units to crush the vile Axis powers. My US forces can liberate Berlin, Warsaw, Kiev, Moscow, even Novosibirsk--just like they did historically--wink, wink. Then I can pretend that the US industrial giant was the true winner of the war. (Now this WAS sarcastic.) My latest game (another glorious victory vs the AI) I set it to regular level and played allies. I'm trying to fight the war the way it happened. So far it works. The allies have invaded Italy and are slugging up the boot. All other US/Brit materials are being massed in preparation for the '44 Overlord. It's going to work, although the actual invasion may be a failure, who can know? The only thing unrealistic about this scenario is the Germans are OwNeD in Russia. Kiev has never fallen and won't. Ppl rag the AI all the time, but look at its fine points: 1. It always wants to play 2. It doesn't go postal if I do something gamey 3. It never wins 4. It doesn't roll its eyes if I have to take a bafroom break 5. It never spills anything on the keyboard 6. It will always finish the game, even if the situation is hopeless 7. It never makes excuses or says the game wasn't fair 8. It doesn't unplug its modem or feign a hardware failure when losing Seriously, though, to Sixth Army: may you be ever victorious and may your skills always improve. I'll never play a pbem. If they get the transmission protocols working I might play vs someone, but I hate pbem. I've played tons of online games, I am aware that humans are more cunning than any PO. Even if the human doesn't know what he's doing, he may do something very silly and catch me competely by surprise. So the challenge would be fine w/ me, I'm a graceful loser, but pbem is just too slow. The only human I will likely play will be my Dad. He's been practicing, he likes the game. But I'll always OwN him on the electronic battlefield. It's his destiny. Just don't trust vonPaulus! Paulus would be ok. Its the big fat luftwaffe man and his empty promises ( "oh ya sure, I can supply SixthArmy by air" ) that will cause ultimate defeat.
  9. Another astonishing victory as the AI set to easy meets SixthArmy on the electronic field of battle and gets OwNeD.
  10. For example: Glorius Victory for SixthArmy, I beat my dad, who had never played this game before in a hotseat, he got oWnEd. Someone told me turn based players are humorless cads. Its good to see these accusations are baseless. Carl, much as you dislike it, there are other ppl besides you who've bought this game and feel it is their right to come here and post. I see you bitching and moaning all the time about "new ppl" coming to your glorious forum. Frankly, I don't give a rip when you bought the game, or how long you've been here posting. If you don't like some ppl's threads you should just mind your own business and keep your pie hole shut just like everyone else does. Or ppl will start to think you're an arrogant dick. But I am a gracious person and will give you the benefit of the doubt. [ October 15, 2002, 02:26 PM: Message edited by: SixthArmy ]
  11. It seems to be deliberate. I don't think they want you to be able to move forward a unit to use as FO on an unidentified unit w/out burning its turn.
  12. My Dad (who's never played SC) tried to step to my insane skills in a game of hotseat and got OwNeD.
  13. I think Iron Blitz is ok. It has some bugs and a clever player can weasle around some of the rules (ie-land a fighter in territory just conquered), but all in all I like it. Of course anyone playing against the AI is going to be very dissapointed. Me and my Dad played the board game for years. Now we can sit and play some hotseat w/out having to set up all the pieces, roll dice, keep track of production, do general math, or any other unpleasantries associated w/ the board version.
  14. You have Clint's quote wrong there. IIRC he said "A man who's going to decorate his establishment w/ the body of my friend should have armed himself."
  15. nuclear strikes and airstrikes just wouldne work right. Right, one would have to assume the war does not go nuclear. Unless a modmaker can figure out a way to create big booms. I'm not sure which parts of this game are modable or if anyone is even looking into it. And who would the Allies fight? Warsaw Pact vs NATO for starters. Wouldn't even need a new map for that one. If someone could mod a new map we could simulate a large war in the middle east. China vs US Pacific rim could be good. Using this game engine and a handfull of user created maps could yeild endless theoretical global conflicts, imo.
  16. I would like to see a modern conflict. I think it would work fine w/ the weapons being so abstract. I'm unsure how to model nuclear strikes or if that is even possible.
  17. Thanks, Hubert. I know I will enjoy. I think I've already gotten 25 beans worth of fun just out of the demo. Great game.
  18. I'm holding the disk right here in my grubby hand. Took 3 days.
  19. The game did not arrive today. [ October 09, 2002, 04:48 PM: Message edited by: SixthArmy ]
  20. In my games the minor powers never turn to the darkside. I think once I start making the little guys offers they can't refuse it makes the other minors nervous. If just one of those nations would turn I'm sure I could reach my goal by opping a few more bodies to france. that is all *Sixth out*
  21. Great demo. Leaves you wanting more and pulling out the credit card. Everytime things start to get interesting......"The demo has ended" D'OH !! I've played about 10 games. I've made several goals for myself, if the game doesn't come today (I should have it w/in 2 days of ordering right? No overnight option available and the email gives no indication of when to expect receipt. I assume priority mail takes about 2 days. Hope I'm right, anyway: ) I want another idea for what I can accomplish. Several times I've been w/in 1 turn of capturing all the minor nations including Spain, Portugal, the Balkans. I always end up w/ 1 capital in the balkans still up and Portugal. Its irritating being w/in 1 turn so many times. Anyone pulled it off? Another time my goal was to land troops in England. I never thought I had enough time to capture, I just wanted to see how many units I could land and in what state of order they would be in as the demo ended. The first attempt was a real disaster. The second time I waited one turn longer and sacrificed my german navy. Fighters, ships and subs caused very much damage to the English navy. It was glorious! After that I did manage to get quite a few units on the island and in good order. Another time I invaded France, then oped all my troopers across map to invade Russia. There was a one turn delay as I brought my units back up to strength. Frankly, I didn't get far in. I captured the southern port but no other Russian city was ever in serious danger. Has anyone made significant advances before May 10, 41 ? I've been playing on all easy settings because I'm still unsure of all the rules. that is all *Sixth out* [ October 11, 2002, 02:52 PM: Message edited by: SixthArmy ]
