  1. I noticed that The armour on the BA 20 is set as 6 mm at 0 deg everywhere. The Turret is a truncated cone with a flat-fronted mantlet sloped back. The armour on the turrets is all sloped back about 10 degrees, as is that of the hull sides. Would BFC like some pics?. Zaloga lists the armour as 10mm too rather than 6.
  2. And there were more T-28s made than there were tanks in the entire Hungarian OOB and they are still not in the game (< Humour marker).
  3. As I recall The British 2" mortar's primary role was actually to provide smoke coverage at the platoon level. That is why the Brits kept it (and still do today although the new 2" fires a much more powerful bomb.) The yanks used a 60mm mortar which is not in the same catergory, and is a company asset.
  4. I recently played an operation in which 2 of the battles lasted until the end of the 26th and 27th turns. The time limit was set at 20 with variable end. I thought that the maximum was +25% or 10 turns, whichever was the lesser. Any ideas? - Apart from do fewer hard drugs?
  5. Thankyou all. From what I can tell, it sems that there are actually very few separate source being used (at least on the web) and I cannot tell without nipping up to Parola (a mere 12000 knm away) how thick the various plates are. I will try the museums (Parola exchanged a T-26 m33 for some UK vehicles in 1990 at Bovington) As for T-26 with applique armour, I was chuffed to come across a shot of a captured T-26E which again indicated armour on hull sides and turret sides. Wow I ahve 4 photos now of these and they all agree (such a large sample!) None indicate a lack of turret and hull side armour. BTW For the Finns, as far as I can tell, all OT-133 captured had their flamethrowers removed and a standard 45mm gun fitted. But taking advantage of the LH volume freed up, added a bow mg and a 'head bump' in the hull roof over his head. Presumably they added a 4th crewman and were like the Vickers 6 ton tanks. Wol
  6. I find that careful use of pre-set concentrations to be quite efective on the offensive.
  7. I prefer operations more than anything else, with QBs as light relief. I think I can eventually balance a scenario for play as human vs human or human (attacker) vs Ai defender. I cannot get it to work as human (defender) vs AI without greatly changing the operation. Sometimes to play vs Ai a balance provision is needed. My 2c woth.
  8. I am happy to provide sources as far as I can, I think I would mostly like a quick one-liner from BTS to say something like "See xxx which we take to be most reliable as a source" and they give yyy cheers WOL And T-28s fit into the same model group as the twin turret T-26. Only one main gun turret, the others are just wide arc bow mgs maybe from an engine point of view. Wol
  9. Funny, I have seen Ju87Bs dive bombing my Russians sveral times recently and I heard not their wail at all. Am I missing something?
  10. I can dream! But seriously I would love someone from BTS to at least acknowledge that there might be an issue with the T-26, especially the T-26E. cheers
  11. Oh yippee! at last the proletariat are marching, and the inevitable forces of history might cause the production of the penultimate stalinist weapons, the T-28 (Penultimate because of course there is that-which-no-greater-can-be-conceived: The T35). I see it all - Mikhail Tuchachevski and DEEP BATTLE! (Oh and sadly lots of burnt out soviet tanks. I can deam!
  12. They deployed them in batteries, and at the start of the war you get 6. And they are principally a DF weapon.
  13. err Bump! There are rather a lot of T-26 tanks, could you fix them, at least fix the stats even if you do not make them look right! And umm, a T-28? The silence is so far golden!
  14. They would have already fired at the target. In any case Heavy AA fires by battery through centralised fire control - with the aid of predictors, quite often firing salvos together. The crew just "follow the pointers". The most you might expect is a nice message saying you shot down/aborted/drove off an attacking a/c and lose a few dozen rounds of ammo! Not really in the scope of CMBB. (Satisfy yourself by saying "I got three others , it's up to the light flak now"!
  15. All my sources indicated that T-26E had armour added to Hull front and sides, and Turret front and sides, (if not completely around the turret) What photos I have support this. Thus the T-26E needs to have added armour to the sides and probably turret rear (It is oval shaped overall anyway so 'rear' is a little confusing). Pictures actually show added armour to the lower hull front, Upper hull front, and turret front and sides (rear not visible). Pics of OT-133 with Ekranami show armour added, again to upper and lower hull front and sides, and turret front and sides around to at least 165 degrees. Most sources say that the armour maximum thickness on T-26 m33/37/39 was 25mm. (Perhaps some kind Finn could wander up to Parola and check the thickness on the battered T-26m39 that is shot full of holes by ATR fire)- What sources did you use for the figures that you have? The OT-133 should have turret off-set to right like OT-134 Why no AA mg fitted to just about all late model BT-7, T-26m37 and m39, T-28 (Ooops not in the game yet but heck a plug for them!) KV-1? I anticipate soviet penetration at any momment. No I mean I look forward to your reply
  16. Ahh And I thought it was just a bug! I spent ages doing a large map based on soviet 1:100 000 of an area 30 ks SE Lvov,a nd I could not get the ribvers to flow down hill! It drove me nuts as the map was cut by streams starting in hill (spot heights 471m) dropping 13 x 10 m contours over an escarpment 1.5 to 2 km wide (The staggering grade of 130/1500 to 130/2000 (6.5-8%) I thought this would be lovely to model since the streams /small rivers started in the hills. I have now had to re-map them as gulleys! Arghhhhhhh And I liked cruising the CMBO rivers at level 1 looking for corners bent up!
  17. As I recall the wheels were for dragging it across country by manpower not for vehicular towing like the British 4.2" mortar. It just saved you packing it up and carrying it.
  18. I just came across a pic of a Komintern towing a 76 AA gun. A Komintern is hardly the most powerful of tractors!. Any way, Please just one tractor to tow/redeploy our medium AA guns would be good.
  19. Has anybody modified the sound file yet for a nice long wail before the crump of exploding bombs for Ju 87s? It would be wonderful. I could swap it in and out of the .wav when I used them (as I suppose the file is used by other attacking a/c)
  20. Sorry - all that anxst! Can we please have a rail over road bridge, a level crossing, AND A RAIL OVER WATER BRIDGE! At the moment I use road bridges for rail bridges, and it looks awful.
  21. I set up an OPERATION. Every 4 th battle night, opening time slot "2". 10 battles long. So the time slots are: 1 mid day 2 dusk 3 night 4 dawn 5 mid day 6 dusk 7 night 8 dawn 9 mid day 10 dusk On the 6th battle, I see the a strange thing, under the date it says "midday" I am confused, surely I just played that one, I checked the jar, still a few marbles left, and I persevere. The next battle is duly "night". Time passes. The 10th battle starts, dusk again I expect, but it shows up as "midday" again. What gives? [ November 10, 2002, 06:56 AM: Message edited by: Wol ]
