  1. Just want to thank BattleFront and Mark Walker for one of the best, most informed strategy guides ever read by this gamer. Great layout, great info, and nice to see comments and suggustions from some of the more active, better gamers seen in these forums. First guide that actually had comments and suggustions from someone I've talked with through these forums, was even shocked to see a quote from one of my own gaming group members, shows how personal and close nit CM gamers are. If your like me, LOVE the CM games, but suck at them, lol, then highy recommend you spend the 15 bucks for this guide. Covers alot... attacks, defense, meeting engagements, certain scenerio walk throughs, hints and tips from the makers, and gamers, and all the unit stats. Great job Battlefront, now why the hello didn't you do this for CMBO, lol, I could of used this info then too.
  2. Thou I've played the CM series games since the beginning, I never got into the mods or rulesets until now. I just downloaded and installed the CMMOS 4.0 and went to get some mods for it... Do you mean teo tell me that you have to download and install mods for each vehicle... that would take alot of downloading. Isn't there a mod(s) that has all the changes needed for every vehicle for a certain situation, like say all winter vehicles or something... or do you really have to download, install then acticate each and every piece of equipment. and what do the rule sets do/change? Wouldn't Battlefront know the rules, proper armor pentitration ect ect better then a modder? Thanks for your time, and sorry for the ignorance on the subject.
  3. How about a link then? or is this chris's CM mods, or one of 5 other CM links I have. lol
  4. they may of changed page but it's at: www.gamespot.com on the news you should see CMBB media...
  5. 5 movies of CMBB action at: http://gamespot.com/gamespo....00.html Always like to see game footage, to watch and learn... wonder how they get movies made, I've been trying to figuer out a way to do that. lol
  6. no, downloading it now.. 68 mb's... but at a foriegn site, so wondering if a us version would be different, if anyone knows.. I'll wait to apply, till I know for sure... http://gamesweb.com/pc/downloads/patches/detail.php?item_id=29252
  7. Havent found it yet, but I did find this news so it's either out there already, or will be up soon. Combat Mission 2 Patch online - The folks at battlefront.com did release an enormous Patch with over 100 bugfixes!!! Version 1.01 is even more realistic than the older versions and the patch is about 55 megabytes full of new vehicles and weapons for your ultimate combat experience! can you advise Mr. Martin...
  8. This is a copy/paste from my gaming groups message board... just thought I'd share the news with you guys, since quite a few of you helped me out with some tactics and strategies to finally get a win after all these years (games), thanks again for the tips and hints... As some of you know my record for winning ANY games in either CMBO and CMBB is bad... real bad... Before today: CMBO 0-45-5 CMBB 0-10-1 Well as of today my record for CMBB is: 1-10-1 Today, a day that will live forever, well at least in my mind,... I, playing as the cowardly Russians, (because almost every infantry unit would panic, even with 3 tanks for support in front of them), took on ArmyRecon as the evil huns... it was a bitter fight, the nazi scum moved to take the flags quick, while using a back up force to try and flank my units. ( I, playing recon via pbem more then anyone else in this game, had an idea what he would do by now), and so I waited to see what side he would flank on, once that was clear I moved to kill the flanking force, then to move onto the goal.... slowly moving up, and chasing the evil hun back to Berlin. Victory was mine... next victim now! Good game recon, I still love you man. (Screens not copied here... for time contraints. lol)
  9. Mr. Martin, Just wondering an approx release date for that strategy guide someones working on... Really looking forward to it, and need it. Thanks in advance...
  10. guess what i mean is... the join network button, load e-mail button ect ect
  11. ya I know... another post from this guy... questions... questions... I just made my own personal splash screen for my gaming group, (thanks to a reader here who posted how earlier today)... Well the screen and buttons are ok, but once you move to another screen the old buttons are there again... what number is the graphics to change for the other buttons on the screens that follow the from one... Thanks in advance...
  12. Sorry for the stupidity... but was wondering what this really is? I've noticed them for CMBO and now CMBB, but never looked into it because I've been quite happy with the game. (game play is king... graphics are nice, but could play pretty games elsewhere.) Are they just bmp and wav replacements or code/number changes? Just wondering... thanks in advance.
  13. Some of you guys have been making great CMBB splash screens... Was wondering, if someone in the know, and has the time, if you could explain what/how is that done... Would love to make a splash screen for my gaming group, using out logos... Thanks in advance... (posted this a minute ago, but never showed... so, sorry if it's a repeat.)
  14. Some of you guys have been making some great splash screens for CMBB... if it's not to difficult, and some maker here can explain how it's done... I would really appreciate the response. Would love to make one for my gaming group using our logos ect... Thanks in advance...
  15. Thats actually very realistic... Tigers and especially King Tigers were very heavy... they had to travel distances over a road to get to a battle, (or like the above post) the terrian had to be favorable... Just know way around it, got to know the terrian before you buy the big guns... if your plan is to defend a area, then by all means get them and put them in overwatch positions, then let the panzers do the moving. If you play by capturing the flag, race to the flag along the road, then tactically place the king tigers in good spots around (or near the enemy approach). They shouldn't be moved much unless the terrian is in your favor. good luck.
  16. (snip) Moon (Martin), if this is unacceptable behavior, please except my apoligies, and delete this thread. You have been a great PR guy for battlefront and don't want to piss you off. (edited for content - MOON) [ November 16, 2002, 11:30 AM: Message edited by: Moon ]
  17. I was more or less wondering if they were actually worth using. My last PBEM game, I had a IL2... attack about 4 turns, it was cool to see him fly over and shoot his rockets... but never knew if he hit anything. lol
  18. Thanks for your time... again. 1. Is there any way, after a game, to see how well your fighters/bombers did? if they actually got any kills? (like you can with ground units, select and hit enter.) 2. How can I determine effective and maxium range of my mortar units? To target do they have to have a true line of sight? how best to use them, recommendations? Thank again.
  19. it's only green to the top of the hill about 11 meters away... I'll have to read up on the red again... but with him up like that he should be able to see that field, even in a light fog... just trying to understand the engine behind this...
  20. I'm in the set up phase of a pbem game, in the attached screen you can clearly see my tank with it's unbuttoned commander out... shouldn't he be able to see that field in the distance... but if you see my Line of Sight tool shows that he can't, and all of my tanks are showing that... I don't want to put my tank exposed on the hill (ridge top)then he would be a sitting target I just want him there to overwatch other unit movements to the left... Am I misunderstanding something? Thx in advance...
  21. thx...good info, got 4 pbem games started today, lol, will be testing the use of commands.
  22. I've done a search on the topic and theres alot of answers but alot of conflicts in the answer, so going to ask again... To properly use the seek hull down position command... do you drag your seek hull down line out to the area or target you want to hull down too, or do you just pull it to the top of the creast you want your tank to hull down at? and any tips on properly using the shoot and scoot commande would be appreciated to... Thx in advance...
  23. Thanks for the replies and info... studing hard. lol That picture is from the end of the game, I'm pretty much doomed there. All my games I've played, including the one above, was a 2000 point meeting engagment... I moved quick and secured the flag from the get go, I then set up a defense, in the above game, may partner waited till half way through the game before he started moving in force. He then overcame my units defending the flank and was then able to spread out all around me, then sqeeze me to death... Like I said early, I believe my tactics, in a little way at least, are correct and proper. moved to the flag with armor and inf, got them in defense positions, then had to smaller force (2 armor and some inf) on both flanks they were olding but over ran, leaving my force exposed... by then too late to re-organize and assualt circling units. I suck at understanding what units I should pick in these point games... my panzers were attacking but there rounds bouncing of his tanks like bb's... then he would take out one of my tanks with 1 or 2 shots. thats what I need to work on.
