  1. Barkhorn1x,

Of course, not only do these people expect to be paid, but if you want HD, you get to pay for government film on video for $225. Gasp!

I agree - these should be hosted by the Smithsonian and available for free.

I find that impressive, non penetrating gouge from a strike at the junction between the glacis and lower front hull plates to be a real attention getter, as clearly do the GIs beholding it!

    Regards,

    John Kettler

Me too. Taking on a Jagdtiger frontally was not going to do much. I doubt that the M-36s 90mm would do much and a 76mm HVAP had no chance.

  2. OK - perhaps a bit off-topic.

I never knew that video existed of Jagtigers - and with them actually moving. Here are a few examples:

These are from the surrender of Schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 512

    Location: Iserlohn Germany

    Date: 1945, April 16

(note the Bergepanther at the end of the first vid.)

  3. Huh. I didn't think canister was still being used as late as wwii. Which leads to a specific question. Some vehicles have specific ammo, like sabot (which I didn't realize existed so early) or HEAT. Is there a way to get a unit to use a certain ammo, or do they just decide based on the target?

Yes, canister was made for the US 37mm gun found on the M5 Stuart and M8 Greyhound and no, you cannot choose what type of round the crew uses.

  4. You do not apply enough double-think to your logic. Not NS theory is (or was) at fault - it was the fault of Germany and the Germans not to have won the war. The theory was right - the people were wrong.

    See?

Yes, all socialist theories are correct. They've just never been implemented correctly! 'Tis a shame that utopia can never be reached with such imperfect human material. But we must all KEEP TRYING as a 100+ million dead is a small price to pay for such a glorious future.

  5. In fact, I believe that capitalism is far inferior to national socialism and socialism in a single country (the ideology of Stalin), today we can already see that capitalism leads to the degradation of European race, and it will disappear and civilization. I am 30 years old and I distinctly understand that, and more young people in Europe, Russia and the United States is aware of.

Really? Capitalism inferior to national socialism and socialism? Where does one get these crack-brained ideas.

Socialism HAS NEVER WORKED on a scale larger than a small co-op. That's history. That's a fact.

  6. I remember this movie that is set during the ACW (its more a love film but with a historic background) and in the Battle of Crater scene you see an Indian Confederate soldier throwing a musket with a bayonett like a spear into the crater, so I always wonder what it would look like throwing a Panzerfaust like that and how well it would fly.

"Cold Mountain". Pretty good movie actually if one makes allowances for all that drama. Great Battle of the Crater recreation.

  7. "We needed them", who we? Maybe he and his 2 friends who served with him, how he can say for all army! How you can to obey order attack at 7.00 if you don't have watch? You will be ask Germans? - Hey I need attack at 7.00, what time is it now? All officers must have watch to do they job!

Radios were scarce but watches plentiful. Hmmm...could be I guess.

  8. I read thru this thread to learn about SS Camo and what the...???

Mate, I've been shot at rocketed, morterd by real bad guys and i still got up everyday for 6months to do my job you honestly think saying your going to ban me would make a difference at all?

I know many vets and none of them sound at all like this character. No class.

  9. Battles from the Bulge by Panther Games, and AGEOD's various offerings including WW1. Plus CMx1. Occasionally CMx2 but it just a tedious drag compared to the delight of CMx1.

So you like "beer & pretzels" and not "Grog" play? To each his own I say.

Now, why is this thread even in this forum and not in the CM1x forum? Take the pipe dream speculation over there please.

  10. Take the CMBN parameters for some of the weapons effects, ie, German PZ lV 75mm vs the Sherman, the effectiveness of the faust and shreck and patch CM1 and I will buy new copies of CM1, or pay for the upgrade.

Unfortunatly you, and the 10 - at most - other guys like you, are not going to pay for the effort needed to patch CM1.

That game system is - what - 13 years old? Ancient history. What you suggest is akin to slapping some metalic paint on a Model T. CMBO is a museam piece. That's just the way it is.

  11. that's great news. hopefully the quad .50 will make an appearance as well =D

Oh my, I would love an M16 GMC:

"With a need to replace the M13, the M16 Halftrack of WWII was developed and became what some would regard as the most crucial weapon of World War II Antiaircraft Artillery. Development first began in December of 1942. Along with the aesthetics of the carriage’s classic lines, this halftrack is also known for its weapon – the quad fifty machine gun (M45D) – nicknamed “Meat Chopper”. The M45D was mounted on a Maxson turret with 4 M2HB machine guns. Traversing at 60 degrees per second and 400-500 rounds per minute, the two cargo boxes at the rear of the vehicle (along with additional ammo chests that were carried on the vehicle) stored enough ammunition to allow the M16 eight minutes of sustained fire.

...and how about the M15 as well?

    One can dream.

  12. In a story in my area a local baseball hero tried to start his own computer game company. After just two years he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy with one hundred fifty million dollars in liabilitys, layed off all 400 employees and had to give up his huge office space. 400 employees? Huge office space? Say what you want about BFC, at least their business model isn't suicidal!

Interesting you bring up Curt Schilling. Some ASL vets may know him as he bought the ASL rights from Hasbro after AH Hill went bust and enjoyed some success w/ Multiman Publishing selling ASL products and other board games.

I guess the PC gaming biz is a bit...ah..."different", which is the point Steve is making.

  13. Also, one more thing:

All this fandom going on is damaging your reputation outside this forum, and it is that one thing where no developer is intervening.

Oh please. Who cares? You like BF games then pay the $10.00. You don't then just go away and worry about BFs reputation elsewhere. Hey, why not do your concern trolling on the Wargamer forum where there is a three page thread devoted to Steve's damaged reputation?
