  1. I've been playing this one over the last few days against the AI and once in futility against a human opponent. We were discussing way to improve it for PBEM play and one thing we thought would real work would be to extend the map on the axis side 500-900 more meters. Also either eliminate the side reinforcements or give one to the allies. I think the Allies would need a few more M10s(or infantry..never enough infantry) to really level the playing field. I really like the premise behind the scenario, recce the objective, picket it and maneuver your follow on forces to the best possible spots to either serve as reinforcements, ambushes or simply to capture a unmanned town. Even if you don't make it into a PBEM type scenario, well done on the Vs the AI version.
  2. I've had this in on of my TCP's as well.....Was funny at the time but I forgot to save it. And it was BFC version. [ December 18, 2002, 07:34 PM: Message edited by: cg84 ]
  3. I preordered mine and it came pretty fast,(by Oct4th or 5th) wonder why it takes so long for some parts of Canada? My buddy in Calgary got his fasterthan me up in Edmonton by a day or two.
  4. Hmmm glad I got mine, I live in Edmonton. Came while I was on excercise though....roughly around the 2nd or 3rd of OCT.
  5. Nothing wrong with Edmonton...Calgary now thats where the trouble starts:)
  6. Just started plying it....Looks great!!!!
  7. Brian...I think your right out of 'er. Look you even became an officer, a prime example of being "right outta 'er if I ever saw one:)
  8. I'm a C-6 Gunner for my plt and although we can use the weapon indirect, we don't use it much for exactly the reason Jason C mentioned. An exception to the fact would be, having a forward spotter bring your rounds in for you(ie recce det, unmanned AC and so on). We did a bit of it on my MG course and found unless your using a lot of MG's you don't really hit a whole lot due to the beaten zone being so huge. But I imagine it can be a great spoiling tatic when used on a large formation. I don't know about 3000 meters as I think the farthest we had tgts out was 2200 meters. But with good ammo 3000 seems reasonable(velocity might be low).
  9. The pictures in the sneak peek page, are those guys Canadian? One guys is holding a carl gustav 84mm(my nickname BTW:) and the other has a c-7 rifle with our crappy 84 pattern rucksack. Just wondering:)
  10. Similarly - the Cromwell was never, ever, ever used by Canadians, yet the rarity table doesn't reflect that - I suppose because they can't be purchased in the game as Canadian oh yea the reason the cromwell(and many other units) were list under the Canadian heading is that all British OOB type stuff was all lumped together as was the french and american [ March 28, 2002, 02:22 AM: Message edited by: cg84 ]
  11. They're were done by Stryker over at Band of Brothers w/ help from Andrew "atiff" Tiffany Jarmo "Jarmo" Laasko Robert "jrcar" Carpenter Marc "MarcS" Sullivan Wyatt "wwb 99" Barnett Well there may be irregularities, it was made just to add a twist to battles that people play and to even out rare unit purchases. The tables assign a rarity value to each unit in Combat Mission with 1 being a very common unit and 8 being a very rare unit. The idea is that players may choose which rarity level they want to fight their battle under and then only purchase units with that rarity number or less. There may situations where a purchased formation contains a unit with an invalid rarity number. In these cases the unit would be allowed so long as it wasn't purchased individually. Example: Two players agree to play a rarity 3 game. The German player purchases a Heer Rifle Battalion which contains a 120mm Mortar Spotter which is a rarity number 5 unit. Even so, this 120mm Mortar Spotter is allowed since it comes with the battalion. However, a second individual 120mm Mortar Spotter could not be purchased since it would be restricted by its number 5 rarity.
  12. Is this what you want? http://stryker1.home.att.net/Misc/UnitRarity/unitrarity.htm
