1. 43+27=70 ... where are the 30 missing points?
 2. Thanks White4, but your Übergrandpas did it well too. Most of my Canadians are in the hospital, treating the bruises made by the walking sticks of your old boys
 3. SWOTL is (for me) the best flight simulator ever made. Not in terms of graphics or sim flight accuracy, but in terms of PLAYABILITY. The mission generator was simply great. And the simplicity to give flight orders to any in-flight plane was otustanding. I pray for a revision of SWOTL by Lucasarts with enhanced graphics and (why not!) more planes. A dogfight with a Junkers EF-128 against a Gloster Meteor ... Oh, man! Speaking about the PCGamer classification, I think that HL in the first place is a good decision. It has a revolutionary game engine and only for this reason worth that place (despite its other capabilities). But, a classification like this is (my opinion) a mistake. Different genres need different classifications. HL as the best 3D Shoot Them Up, AOE II as the best Real Time Strategie and ... Combat Mission as the best Wargame.
 4. Of course it has a good replay value! I'm sure if I replayed it I'll follow a completely different strategie. At this moment I'm in a very bad situation, surrounded by 3 sides with my Shermans being smashed by a TC who I suspect is Michael Wittmann himself (2 Sherms by 2 shots in 15 seconds at 700+ ...) White4 is crushing my forces. When will I receive the Pershings?
 5. Congratulations, Ted, for your promotion to chief of Boot'n'Tracks! I hope your new responsibility don't force you to abandon we poor newbies
 6. Hey, Ted, I'm curious ... White4 and me are playing Give & Take and the units involved ... oh, well, seems a little bit "strange". How do you know if a tournament battle is well balanced? Do you play tests against the AI? Against a friend? Is based only in the cost of the units? I know I'm very curious.
 7. I disagree, my friend! That's the only one time I played with Allies in all our games! Sincerely, I was afraid when I saw my units in MM. Allied Forces! And FRENCH!! I never, never play with Frenchs (only one time, against Big Dog). BTW, Spanish and Frenchs are everlasting enemies. And I don't know the Allied vehicles very well. But, I must face the facts, the Greyhound is a very reliable AFV. In MM, I try to take good ambush positions ASAP, trying to put some traps for all the vehicles who intends to pass the big hill top. Before my 4 first Greyhounds reached their positions (the infantry marched in the middle of the valley), 2 Pumas appear in hull down. Well, then we achieve 2 doble kills in the same turn!! But I managed to put 2 Greyhounds in good positions at the right of the hill. Then, I send 2 more to the little hill in the left. When they just reached their positions, 2 Pumas appeared. My infantry starts to shoot at them to force they to be buttoned. Then I move my 2 Greyhounds to seize the Pumas, ... but they failed and the Pumas kill the 2 Greyhounds. Later, my zooks (and another Greyhound) take out the Pumas. I try to reinforce the little hill position, but 2 Greyhounds more died in the way, killed by the Commander's Pumas. The rest of the battle was a cat-and-mouse game around the top of the big hill. Finally I managed to maintain alive a couple of Greyhounds and almost all my infantry (for only a second. An evil Panzerschreck ends the battle with a Greyhound in sight!) Very, very fun battle ("muy divertido", Commander). Thanks Ted for all the Tournament. 8.
quote:
Originally posted by SuperTed: voidhawk, Thanks for the AAR. These are fun to read. Also, I was wondering how many of you guys are continuing to play outside of the tournament.

Commander and me are playing 3 games simultaneously: an attack, a defense and a ME. In our last 3 games from BMB we achieve a DRAW so, maybe, this time we will have a winner And I'm playing (along with Give & Take) Blood'n'Steel against White4 off the tournament. At this moment, we are smashing our light and medium tanks with long range shots (my nearest enemy is 800m. far!)
 9. Thank's for the information, Schrullenhaft, I'll try the trick today!
 10. I received the file in a .txt (not compressed) file as an attached file in a hotmail mailbox, used with MSN Explorer. I haven't experienced any problem until this last file. I know my opponent is out his home so, probably, he has a different machine, but I don't know if it is a Mac or a PC. I'm using a PC. Could be a PC-MAC compatibility problem?
 11. Hi all, While playing a PBEM file I found that, suddenly, I cannot open the file my opponent sent. I push the "Load E-Mail" button, chose the file and ... nothing occurs. Then, I opened the file with a text editor (to see if there are something corrupted) and only see characters like empty squares. I know that my opponent aren't using his usual equipment. So ... Is this a problem with the PC-MAC compatibility? Or with the CM patches? Or what? Any, any ...?
 12. Hey Ted! We are in the second Round! Now, we can post our Mighty Mouse AAR's to see what kind of stupid, strange or clever strategies we used. But, no more AAR's on Blood'n'Steel by the moment. White4 and me are experiencing some kind of technical problems. The last two files he sent were useless for me  I'll starts a thread in the Technical Forum asking for a solution. Please read it and see if somebody knows what's happen.
 13. Welcome to the Combat Mission world, soldier! Be prepared to abandon all your other hobbies! OK. The easiest manner to use the mods is (if you are using a PC, not a Mac): 1.- Unzip the files (use Winzip.exe to do that) 2.- Copy the *****.bmp obtained files to your c:/CombatMission/Bmp directory 3.- Starts CMBO Don't forget to do a safeguard copy of your BMP directory. If you install a mod and then you see the previous mod was better, simply restore the previous BMP folder. IMPORTANT NOTE: Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Kingfish: [QB]According to Ken Tout's book 'A fine night for tanks', Wittman was ambushed and killed by Joe Eskins (sp?), a Firefly gunner with the Northamptonshire Yeomanry. Ironically, after bagging Wittman and two other Tigers, Joe never fired another shot. He served out the rest of his tour as a loader in another Firefly. QB]

I think Kingfish data are accurate. And Degus, if you read with care the "Achtung Panzer!" story you can find that, although the Typhoon theory seems possible, his death by a Firefly shot finally was proven. BTW, I didn't knew the Eskins tale. Good one, Kingfish.
 15. You can find detailed data about Wittman's death in the Achtung Panzer! page, here: Michael Wittmann as well as photographs of his smashed Tiger.
 16. Great AAR, witko. There seems to be a bloody fight in the woods.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by SuperTed: Splash, Around 10,750 points per side.

Glups! More than 10,000 points! I cannot imagine what kind of surprises we will see in the next turns ... maybe a Heavy Tank Battalion?
 18.
quote:
Originally posted by White4: badda bump. Gimme a file, Leta! And lets start round 2!

I sent the #36 file on Wednesday night (remember, GMT+1 for me!) and an e-mail today asking if you received it. If there are any problem and you haven't received any of the two e-mails, please, put a post here.
 19. First, bump, bump, bump to avoid the second page! And now the Blood'n'Steel report: Sir, there are too much blood in the ground and too much steel burning in the hills. White4 & me are changing AFV for AFV (two double-kills at the moment)although he's 1 AFV ahead. My reinforcements are moving quickly to reach the front (the front is almost a mile away!) and probably the W4 reinforcements are moving the same way. So, I'm sure we'll see more blood and burning metal in the next turns ...
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Keith: I believe you need to simultaneously use the "Shift" key while clicking the "-" button from the map menu. The user interface is not very intuitive.

You're right Keith. The "shift" key combined with the +/- buttons change the direction of the map enlargement/reduction
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by White4: Woo-Hoo! Contact made on the same turn (9) I get reinforcements! Which is great, since I need to replace those guys who made contact....

I need some replacements too!. When my Jeep drivers saw that nasty German halftracks firing at them, they ran like hares! Fortunately, I have reserves ...
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by aaronb: the longest duration is 2:30 - nothing lasts '14 turns', contrary to Leta's statements. Must have been a continuing barrage.

I'm pretty sure about the number of turns. But, according to your data, I'm sure now (before I only suspects) it's a game bug. But I lose the battle, anyway ...
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by panzerwerfer42: I hate it when I get smoked by 105s or bigger. The crap just won't go away.

Me too. In a recent PBEM game, my opponent fire 4-5 150mm smoke grenades right to one of my bunkers ... and the smoke remains for almost 14 turns! Finally, the game ends and the bunker was still in a smoke cloud
