  1. I'm ready for some new units and terrain! Bring on the city fights!
  2. Well, how about anti-tank guns? Like machine guns, as soon as they are spotted, everyone's focus is to knock them out. I think this is where the limited life span comes in play. These units are magnets for fire.
  3. Ok, forget about the machine-gunner story. And yes, many soldiers did survive and did come home to raise families... Still, the cemeteries are filled with something. And, you don't have to be in a major battle to get killed...
  4. We've all heard about the average life span for a machine-gunner in WW2. What was it, something like 15 minutes? But how long did a tank and crew really last? Or one of the AT guns? In the game at least, it's something like 5 minutes. Any info on real ALS in WW2?
  5. We chat casually about armor hits that just bounce off, but don't you think it sounds pretty damn loud on inside when a round stikes the tank?
  6. I've got a QB that has a 150mm Rocket FO. Just to experiment, I've played it maybe 25 times. The rockets land everywhere! My lines, their lines, off the board, on the horizon... Man, I hope they weren't counting on those for victory!
  7. As I've said before, if they go to bed early, you had better use the headphones... Of course, it does cause quite a start when they appear next to you and you don't hear them coming because of the heaphones...
  8. I started out rushing to positions, but I was always getting pounded by arty and AFV's. Now I try to sneak more and wait to show armor. That's a try, mind you...
  9. They also work well on defense. Keep them out of the distance fire and they toast the enemy when he gets within range. Like trees behind buildings. Love to watch the flames.
  10. I want to add some shortcuts (links) from my website to threads I want to find again. How do I do this? [ 07-17-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ] [ 07-17-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  11. Found another great list about units. He made spreadsheets with tons of info! Thanks Chris! http://users.erols.com/chare/cm/ [ 07-17-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  12. Hey Walker, thanks for the info on the 3-inch mortar! Kingfish. Can you clarify what you said about the pattern? Straight line from what point?
  13. Here's another. Don't show your HT's early.(maybe never) It's tempting to use them for the MG's and such, but they burn really well...
  14. OK, here's mine. Don't put your infantry in a position that's going to just get pounded by heavy weapons. You know the one. You're sitting in the edge of a woods because of good LOS and you have to take the arty and afv shots. Works the same for buildings. The squads just get decimated while being unable to stop the incoming fire. Wait for the ememy to waste his fire, then move into positions.
  15. I know the scale is different, but I like the planes in Steel Panthers.
  16. Hey! Searched but didn't find anything. Can you connect buildings in the map editor to make bigger buildings?
  17. I'd like some simple way to reference locations on the map. I had a QB going and my opposite # said "Boy, I hate that squad" Me: "Which one?" He: "The one that killed 3 of my squads" Me: "Where?" He: "The building" Me: "Which building" You get the idea... If we could say AA -13 at least we could focus a little.
