  1. definitely not gamey! [ 06-28-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  2. Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
  3. Just as a question. Does area fire reduce damage or just spread out the pattern? [ 06-27-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  4. So it seems to me a feint along the edge with split squads and a vehicle or two, with the main force waiting until the defender shifts to this attack... naw, too gamey.
  5. See, that's the trouble. It's an infantry only force. There is no smoke or big guns available. No AFV's. It works the same when the MG is in a bunker.
  6. This is a tough one. Several times I've had only infantry and my opponent has had a machine gun or two in distant woods in foxholes. Because of the open ground, you can't get to the MG. I've had to waste arty to try and move them. It can hold up or destroy an entire flank of infantry. I tried to suppress them and attack from the side. They popped back up and took out my flanking squads. Anybody got tactics? [ 06-26-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  7. Hey Gremlin, thanks for the link! It's a well done info page!
  8. Hey stic.man. Don't feel bad, I never paid any attention to it either, until I was informed about it here.
  9. Can you place 2 buildings immediately adjacent to each other? Mine always have spaces.
  10. I tried a QB with Franco's rules last night. That's a serious amount of work! I could only maintain it for about 5 turns before I received a direct order from my higher consciousness to revert to my god's-eye view. Man, there were German's everywhere!
  11. Level 1 is cool for viewing, but against an actual tcp-pbem opponent... seems dangerous. Level 2 is more informative, but as said above, it's easy to lose track of the "big picture". I kind of like the idea from Kiltie Lad about playing a small qb against the AI like that. I almost never use the over-head view except when I get carried away with the view arrows. 12. What view level is preferred? Level 1 is cool, but limited. Overhead is interesting, but flat. I think I usually end up set on 3 or 4.
  13. So cruel. I get a message saying "Access Denied".
  14. Found a great list of units. Thanks to the maker. http://members.tripod.com/johnnocmdow/unit1.htm [ 06-13-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  15. Searched and couldn't find anything... Does someone have a list of units and their costs?
  16. Played a tcp/ip QB the other day and my opponent had 2 very well placed machine gun/pillboxes. Lot's of open ground. I had British infantry and no tanks. Not enough smoke to bother him. Finally took 1 out with a piat (shot #6 of 6 !). I poured MG fire into both pillboxes the entire game and never bothered him. [ 06-11-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  17. Man, I'm staying with my Voodoo3. See no evil...
  18. If a mortar is in command range of an HQ, doesn't the mortar's LOS now include what the HQ can see? Or am I thinking about this wrong?
  19. Board guys. Is there any easy way to do this? It would help to keep track of when and where.
  20. I've got a voodoo3 and things seem fine... Am I missing something?
  21. Hope somebody saves this... great thread. Will want to look it up later...
  22. I'm using a 670 mhz.128MB ram PC with a SB Live(value)card. Unless I'm imagining this, I swear the battle sounds were louder before. The ambient sounds are plenty loud, but the battle sounds seem to be about 1/2 as loud as they were. I've deleted and reinstalled the sound card drivers. Re-installed directX (8.?)now. No joy. Anyone else seen something like this? (or better yet, solved this). [ 05-29-2001: Message edited by: tenfive2 ]
  23. My 1st night game the other day. It didn't occur to me about the very limited LOS. The terrain was already blocking most LOS and I couldn't figure out why my spotter was always blocked no matter where he went. Man, I marched him all over the place looking for a target. (he never found one). After the game, I realized it was the darkness. Felt really foolish.
  24. Right now, I can hear the rain clearly. The orders fairly clear, the engines ok and the weapons firing at about 10% normal. Whenever I have sound problems, I blow away the drivers and reboot.
