  1. Can anyone tell me exactly how they work? They don't follow the typical guidelines for firepower, so I'm not sure how to use them effectively. I mean, are they particularly good at suppressing enemy troops, or do they simply have greater effective range/accuracy than a typical rifleman. Without knowing what exactly they do, I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable letting them, say defend in zone in place of an MG. Can anyone help me out? (I DO know that they are good for picking off tank commanders!)
  2. I'm assuming you guys have seen the movie, right?
  3. I was just wondering. If i download a bmp mof file of, say winter camo for my german infantry, will it be on them regardless of mission. They would look really stupid running around in winter camo during a summer mission. Same question in application to vehicles, buildings, etc. as well. Can someone help me out here?
  4. You are cordially invited to take this with a grain of salt, but if you are challenging the ID element of the CM engine, you have to understand the implications. It's hard to design a tactical wargame (thanx doctor obvious ), and simply based on the information that you know about your own troops, the terrain, your viewpoint, etc., you already are in a sort of omniscient position. The only true solution to the problem you are addressing is to completely mask and censor all output from the game. That, however realisticly it might represent the role of a military commander, is boring. I wouldn't play the game unless I could view the whole battlefield and examine the details of my troops. Again, my input, as usual, is most likely worthless... Vale
  5. I thought "Punching a hole" was a whole lot of fun. I played as the Germans, and I by the end of it, the countryside was littered with burning American vehicles. The Germans start off with AT and MG bunkers as well as a pair of Panthers and a handfull of infantry. The Ami's start off with a ton of tanks, halftracks, and infantry. It's kind of a meatgrinder deal. Real fun...
  6. I was just wondering, in case any of the powers-that-be are listening, will a real-time chat server of some sort ever be established to help set up TCP/IP games. I know that it's a blessing enough to have this option for multiplayer, but I have had the darndest time setting up TCP/IP games through posting on this forum.
  7. Just thought I'd interject. I only read the last post, but I found a workable tactic with the 2-inchers just today. From the begining, I seperated all of the mortars from their respective platoons. I formed them into their own unit all within command radius of the company leader. I found to my dismay, at the beggining of the battle, that they were all far out of range in their starting position. Under cover from other various elements of my force, I moved them up into a forward, tree-line position. Using the company HQ unit as a spotter, I had them all fire into a concentrated infantry position. I felt this grouped fire far more effective than the meager support that they would give to their respective platoons. Additionally, while the rest of their rifle platoon can run from position to position, the mortar can only walk, slowing the whole platoon down. Just my two, probably very useless cents... 8. I know. I'm just up very late and quite bored, and throwing out some random, insulting gibberish seemed like fun. Anyone out there interested in a TCP/IP some time tomorrow? I have a 100% win record and I fancy myself at least somewhat decent at the game, though it might just be my exhausted, caffeine-drugged brain speaking.
  9. Haha, I knew none of you would have the stones to offer a recourse!
  10. How old are you nattering crones, and have you nothing better to do than to prance about dumping ludicrous portions of meaningless bilge upon our fine and noble internet. Couldn't you, well, scratch in the dirt with a stick or something. YOU BRITISH TYPES HAVE WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS! I believe SOD OFF! is the customary send off... 11. I would love to play against someone, anyone in a TCP/IP game right now. Please reply if interested...
  12. Discounting AT guns, it seems like an all-armor company would annihilate an infantry unit of the same size. Zooks and schreks don't really have the range or punch to compete. Am I full of it, or is it always better to go with more tank for the buck?
  13. I couldn't target the AFV because both of the PS's were empty. Unless I'm mistaken, units which go "empty" when their ammo is depleted can no longer use the target command (i.e. mortars, zooks, etc.)
  14. Sorry to make a tangent here, but in CMBO, is it preferable to be the tank moving, or the tank sitting still? From what I've heard, the moving tank seems to have an advantage?
  15. This has to be the most rediculous thing I've seen in this game. Apparently, while rifle squads carry an infinite supply of grenades, panzershreks, and I'm assuming other weapon teams as well, carry none. I had a frustrating incident today while playing the Carentan V2 scenario. After ambushing a T8 scout car, and killing it's commander with a sniper, my hidden P.S.'s opened up at fairly close range. Due to the armored car's movement; however, they all missed, eventually using up all of their charges. The shocked vehicle got stupid and backed right into the stand of pines where my P.S.'s were camped out, and then it just sat there facing away from my troops. I took two teams of P.S.'s and snuck them up right behind it, but to my endless dismay, they just sat there and looked at it. Thinking maybe I could sneak aboard the annoying armored vehicle, I pressed my two teams closer, in fact, inside the vehicle . Instead of climbing inside the open topped car commando style and bludgeoning the Ami's to death, they hung around underneath the car, performing routine maintanence I'm sure (checking the oil, etc.) Could someone explain this horrible occurence? -P.S. (Post Scriptum, not Panzershrek this time) if you go down to lvl 1 view behind the armored car, you can see the crew-guy-person-soldier-man's feet, very Flinstoney!
  16. This will be my first post, so here goes. I have had the game for only a short time now, but from what I have read, a modification in the full version makes it much harder to knock out pillboxes at range, and I believe it 100%. I recently played the west wall scenario, and my MG pillbox took at least 20 rounds of tank fire b4 being abandoned. S***. There's the bell, got to go. (school)
