  1. Really interesting posts, thank you lads. In the CM Scope I use lMG Teams mounted on recce vehicles frequently, snipers might do, too.

Works fine... but as said before, the modelling of recon missions is quite limited due to the scope of CM, isn't it?

If anyone knows a nice scenario modelling motorised recon, I'd love to down load it.

That was one of the best reads ever on this forum. Thank you - that made my day.

BTW, where can I download that game? Any girlfriend grogs here?

I'm still playing an old version of "Blondes, zickiges Fräulein V4.3" ...

    ;)

  3. Hi again!

I'm quite happy and surprised that so many people found this topic worth answering. I'm sorry about that broken link... I tried to repair it, but it just won't work. Maybe it's because of this crapy public PC in my university.

Portees seem to be invaluable to the British and commonwealth troops in the desert. The deadly diana is much closer to a portee than anything near a tank.

As American tank hunters are in the game and Italian AA trucks to... I hope for the 2- and 6-pounder portees and - maybe for some rare German stuff. We'll see, pre-ordering is about to beginn by the end of November... I hope.

Yeah, I get all that (although I thought it was "Matelot" for Jacktars, not "Martlet").

Yeah. My dictionary gives 'martlet' as an alternative name for the martin, a small European swallow.

  6. Dear MickeyD,

I see your point - I'm with you and I don't want a King Tiger in Italy if it is not historical to have it there. Sometimes it's nice to use a Sturmtiger or two - for the sake of gaminess :D , but this is fixed by the rarity systems and some additional rules.

I have a soft spot for the Italian armor as it is so damn outdated and suicidal to use :D .

Just found another interesting link: Onwar

    AVANTI!

P.S: Check out the Semovente M41M da 90/53 ... SWEET!

  7. Nice links, even if the first one is temporarily not available. I got my informations from a few books I came across and the page panzerlexikon. It's in German but it holds a lot of information.

I'm aspecially curious about the performance of the Semovente da 75. I don't think the lack of armor is the main reason for not including it (think of the Semovente da 47). Might be some historical reasons.

Steel Panthers also had a quite odd SP 90 AA gun. Funny to use - even the Hornisse/Nashorn had a thicker amor

  8. ... are represented quite poorly in CMBB. There were some more models (like the Semoventi da/with a 75 or 105 mm guns) and truck mounted 90mm AA guns and so on. I really liked to use those toys while playing the Steel Panthers Series.

My question why weren't those machines used on the Eastern Front? Well, I can't wait but I look forward to use them in CMAK.

    Cheers!

  9. Hi there!

I'm with the others - for a beginner this book might be worth buying, but despite my name I'm wargaming quite a while so I was (utterly) disappointed.

These tables are fine - but I look up the things that I wanna know directly from the game itself anyway.

Things which could be improved are the format (to small) and the information should be more specific, more into deep. I knew before I got the book about HQs and the importance of cover, for instance.

    Rating: 3 out of 10

  10. Hi there! Lot's of good proposals out here, I hope at least some will make their way into the game.

First, I really don't like the idea of putting civilians into the game.

Some of the things have already been mentioned:

    "Limited" fire

It should be possible to limited the amount of shells Mortars, Arty Spotters [...] let go, as it's crap to waste half of your ammo in just one or two turns! Or to keep away infantry from revealing their position by constant fire. I don't like combinations of firing and movement orders to achieve the same effect as setup times or leaving a good position for this effect are quite gamey ans stupid.

    Improved fortifications

I would like to see shelters, fortified house and other structures into which squads could move in and out. The modell of trenches and fox holes could use some improvement as well.

Different type of minefields (different quality of anti tank mines, like wooden mines) should be simulated. It would also be nice to have bob traps and concealed tank traps / ditches. "Fake" minefields would also be nice.

    Advanced pioneers

I would be great to see pioneers demolish structures more professionaly... just when tanks roll over a bridge for instance by a wire controled tnt-load. Or to have bangalos (?) for the Allies and Goliath (I like those little buggers!) remote controlled tanks.

    Simulate impacts of tank movement

Another nice to have would be to see the effects of tank movement... like making the track movement visual, destroying walls and fences while moving a tank over it... and maybe even houses. Simulate that King Tinger tanks and similar heavies can only use heavy street bridges.

A lot of things more like more kinds of buildings like towers, castles, watch towers, simulate cellars... or Sherman bulldozers clearing road blocks...

Anyway, the CM series is GREAT. Keep it going! :D
