  1. Oh yes, -50 C in northern Lappland... and I recall (a newsflash) how there were couple of guys from New Zealand visiting Finland to tell folks back home what kind of weather is when there's snow on the ground. One can only imagine the talks back home LOL
  2. You sure ? I think main program should be the same for every localization and thus flag numbers should be editable when clicking 'parameters' in scenario editor. In 1st page you can add some basic info -date etc- but after clicking 'ok' second time you should get into another page where you can adjust flag numbers and/or values. Good luck finding those options
  3. I sure would like to give a try to my fights and I have emailed my opponents about this and am waiting their reply. Some problems though... Swamp: my server (whatever) doesn't approve your email adress as I'm using my universitys account. They have banned several servers because of spamming - anyway I'll ask tomorrow if your adress can be accessed. This has happened before and usually I can get things rolling assuring the net maintanance personel HOW IMPORTANT my emails are Broken: same thing as with Swamp - I see what I can do... a note: both of you have earthlink.net and I think that's on black list but we'll see One solution of course is if you guys have another email adress which to use then we are in business (hotmail for example). Of course if you are not interested fighting me (busy with something or whatever it's ok, just let me know). [ August 04, 2002, 05:53 AM: Message edited by: Deathdealer ]
  4. Treeburst I sinceraly thank you for your efforts to arrange all this - maps are serious load of work as I have done few myself too. Too bad this seems to dissolve... if you still have those maps somewhere please send them over as I'd sure like to play them with somebody I'm bit frustrated myself too as I've declined many a challenge during these three or so months but I'll be a sport and start contacting those guys (I need to get some fights rolling LOL). Any Titan who still wants to go through these maps/settings/their troop selections please contact me and we'll find third person to place units on maps (trusting TB provides his excellent maps) as I think TB has done his part for these fights. All praise TB !!!
  5. Looks interesting - I need to go through these in detail as this is one aspect I do miss in CM... By the way - did you get my file for Titans tourney ?
  6. I agree about time limit - we need to get this rolling before everybody loses interest Historic purchases, eh ? I guess a platoon of JagdTigers is historical ...
  7. Sent my setup file to Wreck Treeburst, I must have missed it somewhere but I thought Ghost scenario to be simple ME without armor but as you stated the map is rather big for plain infantry LOL... no matter, will do my purchases anew
  8. Got it, thanks Treeburst Wreck, I'm working on this one and try to get it out to you today...
  9. Hello guys - I'm back in business too Two weeks in wilderness and sea sighting is over. It was nice, I truely recommend it to anyone... midnight sun, mountains and nice twisted roads for bikers in Norway ... though old buddy The Reaper did pat me on shoulder as I got flat tire once but luckily it didn't explode but let out air slowly and I managed to 'drive' to next gas station with tire service. Anyway it was soothing experience I don't mind getting all my fight files at the same time as I'll try to get them out ASAP anyway. Thanks Treeburst for your efforts. 10. Treeburst, did you get my selections ? Just making this sure as I'll be soon on my way...
  11. I did my troops selections and sent them to Treeburst - I hope everything is understandable in that zip-file ... if not please email me or post here ASAP as I'm soon off for a fortnight consulting some forest daemons etc
  12. Now we are talking ...looks good brother Treeburst - I bet everybody appreciates your efforts... Couple of things though: 1) leader bonuses: I think it's not stated but to me it's ridiculous if we boost all of them to +2/+2/+2/+2 so that's a no-no (in my opinion). 2) about maps: I think those setup areas are pretty simple and I'd leave them to you if you don't mind drawing them - at least that way nobody can say about having clear advantage here. Anyway this should be made clear as I'm off tomorrow for about a fortnight (consulting forest daemons as Craig would say it ) so if I'm expected to do a map please confirm it ASAP. 3) ammo/faust/riflegrenade/satchel charge loadouts can be altered with some settings - again little strange if we max them out as that will happen if not stated otherwise. Especially allied tungsten distribution will see some strange figures so again a word about them is needed I guess (I could imagine Fireflies with 25 tungsten and rest HE). 4) just noticed little more than gamey usage of scenario editor: when one splits his squads their total prize is one point LESS than full squads !!! I hope nobody uses this as with it we could get an extra gun or something like that into play with only one turn lost to total playing time because of combining squads back together. Weird behaviour with editor Other than that I'll start with my troops selections right away. [ July 02, 2002, 07:42 AM: Message edited by: Deathdealer ]
  13. I can take axis if nobody else wants them hehe... Well, seriously it doesn't matter but still I do like playing axis troopies
  14. I'm back in town for few days so if you have anything to ask about my battle parameters good chap Treeburst please do so as I'm off again from Thursday for a fortnight... So anybody playing me (or going to play me) take your time to set things up as I'm off pretty far up north. Total road trip should be about 2500 km or 1500 miles and it will take some time you know.
  15. You did have to say something like that Craig, didn't you Now I have pressure to stand up and do real fighting LOL...
  16. Any ideas of time tables ? As I understand some of us are having their vacations (me, me, ME, ME!!! at the moments that is ) or some suchs this/next month. Anyway I'll be riding my bikey for two, three weeks in July well out of reach to any computers (Lappland and northern Norway to be exact) and thus my start with these fights will be rather slow ... I hope that isn't a problem ... but if you don't here from me for a month count me as MIA - down a mountain deep into see swimming with the fish or something like that. Other than that I can hardly wait to go toe to toe with the guys - Titans to you, Monsters to each other LOL
  17. BATTLE PARAMETERS FORM: Deathdealers map settings Attack with 4500 against defend with 3000 Number of flags: 2 + 4 ie 2 about 100 to 200 apart maybe 600 from defenders map edge. The other 4 in square about 100 to 200m apart maybe 100 to 200m from defenders map edge. These clusters can be sideways compared to each other ie for example first pair of flags more north while other group more to south. Idea to have two smallish village centers to defend. Flag placing up to editor. Flag value 300. Depth of defender's setup zone in meters: about 1000, up to editor Depth of attacker's setup zone in meters: about 400, up to editor Defending side: Axis or Allies, up to editor Map Dimensions, frontline: depth: 1440 (N-S) frontline, 1840 (E-W) deep Month: Feb '45 Time Of Day: dawn Weather: snowing Ground Conditions: dry Game Length: 45 Map Type (Farm, Rural, etc.): village Tree coverage: heavy Hilliness(flat, gentle, small, modest, large): modest __________________________________________________ Established Force Purchase Ruleset: Panther/76s with 120/4,2" FOs Allied FORCE: No country mixing, ABs can accompany vanilla infantry (companies/battalions) in company strength (no single plts) ie for every AB company there must be at least one inf company. Plain ABs get NO ARMOR, vehicles yes. German FORCE: No branch mixing (GBs have no armor etc), VG SMGs must be in battalion strength, VG Fusiliers in company strength (come with support units) FORCE known to enemy? No FORCE TYPE: unrestricted - see below Allied Infantry % : 100 Support % : 100 Armor % : 100 Artillery % : 15 (can be 20-30 pts over if one EARTH SHATTERING FO is almost in range ) Fortifications % : 100 Axis Infantry % : 100 Support % : 100 Armor % : 100 Artillery % : 15 (can be 20-30 pts over if one EARTH SHATTERING FO is almost in range ) Fortifications % : 100 __________________________________________________ FORCE PURCHASE EXCLUSIONS, LIMITATIONS, SPECIAL RULES 1) Attacking guns need vehicles to tow them 2) mixing of forces - see above 3) no flaktrucks 4) VGs - see above 5) HMCs - max about half a dozen: intepret anyway you like 6) The Fortifications category - unlimited other than that no TRPs into attackers setup area, defender can have up to 8 TRPs while attacker can have up to 3 TRPs anywhere he likes 7) force editing limitations: mortars can freely be removed (2"s, 60s, 81s), no other adjustment to platoons/companies/battalions, no HQ bonus adjusting, no ammo adjusting, no troop quality adjusting within platoons/companies/battalions ie remain as purchased 8) troop quality restrictions - green, reg, vet, crack 9) LAST BUT NOT LEAST - NO FORWARD CREW SCOUTING, both sides should have enough infantry to do that ie vehicle/gun/mortar etc crews should head for nearest cover and out of immidiate warzone. Crews may be used as area observers in side hills or some such place well beyond fighting line - I usually move my unlucky crews to some hill overwatching action on MY side of fighting [ June 14, 2002, 05:31 AM: Message edited by: Deathdealer ]
  18. Ups... After some thinking I want to add couple of things to my requested map... ie attacker/defender nominations is totally up to Treeburst and another maybe little more important is no 20 TRPs in attackers setup area ... Hope this isn't too much of inconvenience
  19. I'm with Fionn here - just set the map dimensions and hit autogenerate besides it's our fault if we didn't get those Apache Longbows to help us out My map would be 1440m (N-S) and 1840m (E-W) defend/attack situation (defender gets about 1000m depth - and attacker gets about 400m - up to editor). Flags not necessary, only if Treeburst thinks they are needed, timelimit 45. Village, heavy forest, modest hills, dawn, dry ground, snowing, Feb '45. Situation: 3000 for defender, only mortars can be dumbed (2", 60mm, 81mm) unlimitedly, Panther/76 rules with 120/4,2" FOs (limited to 15% ie def gets 450, att gets 675 - can go some 20-30pts over if one FO is almost in range of points). All attacking guns need towing vehicle, all mines etc available. Inf/Support/Vehicles/Armor/Forts unlimited. Allied side may mix ABs with vanilla infantry in company/battalion scale (ie no individual AB plts) but not countries. Of course plain ABs allowed too but then no armor. HMC M8s max half a dozen (intepret that whichever way you like ) Axis side can't mix branches ie GBs with armor. Also VG SMGs must be bought in battalion and Fusiliers in company scale (SMG/Fus coys come with light FOs etc). No flaktrucks (again ) I've always been bad filling formats [ June 13, 2002, 01:20 PM: Message edited by: Deathdealer ]
  20. Everything else is fine but a) no flaktrucks guns should have towing vehicle in MEs and in attacks c) definitely I want some arty limit - Scipios artillery rules are something I ALWAYS use and that's a fact ... to me artillery duels prove nothing of players skill and I don't want to waste my time in such fights Armor/Combined/Recon/Infantry all the same but I prefer unrestricted as then I can get basically what I think is necessary. But the arty is what concerns me - naval guns are plain stupid for example... Just my thoughts
  21. This is getting little bit out of hand - actually this is getting mostly ridiculous... I somebody really wants to be nominated BEST CM-PLAYER EVER IN THE WHOLE ***KING UNIVERSE be my guest. I don't mind Back to point - I think Fionn has more beans for me though I like other arguments too . It seems to me that to get really even we should play 7 scenarios AND 7 QBs so that everybody plays everybody once in BOTH categories but I think that would be awful burden to bear. I don't think I want to go on with this tourney forever as I'd like to play others occasionally too. Sooooooo, one way or the other - let's play as I'm getting bored here
  22. Ah, Swamp this was good thing to put on a post - I too hate to see some crew running around to fish out my positions. I think that is almost as important than flaktruck denial. Crew users should be SHOT or I'll scr@w you LOL Flaktrucks and crews are basically what I think are most important thing to deny. Little consideration about artillery too is important as buying 10 big FOs isn't really showing anything about skills... I didn't think those would come out but I'll say it so we can't forget it Surlyben has good point about point selections. Though I love bigger fights as there one mistake usually isn't fatal and one can make a comeback (if allowed that is...). Small attack/defends can be extremely painful though so I'd say 1500 ME and 2000 for attack/defends is fine with me. Craig is away till Monday so we'll need to wait about his opinions though I think I can speak for him about those small things.
  23. Things look to be developing pretty nicely... 3:2 ratio is the way to go in attack/defends but about seeing map is bit difficult. Usually we don't see them and maybe that's the way to go. At least totally out of place things like road going up cliff etc should be erased with our good man Treeburst and I believe he'll do ok work. Rules: I think 76 rule in general is what most people go with so I'd say it's highest weapon system to be used if we really need to have restrictions at all in armor section . Infantry then: I'd say if one chooses FJs then one has to stick FJ armor etc. October '44 rules out SMGs and still give us those 60m fausts so I'd say thats what I'd like to use. Allied side can mix ABs and regular rifle units if desired as Germans have motorized inf available anyway. Flaktrucks (Flakpanzers ?) are out of course. Point allocations: any idea ? 2000 for all of the fights to keep them managable = 3000 for attacker ? 7 AARs will eat up ones time pretty quickly so I think no monster fights though we can do some of those later if we feel like it... I'm already expecting some serious trashing 8) so let's get on with it !!!
  24. If nobody noticed it I'll play anything ... With three "QBs" it's hard to get 2 attacks and 1 ME - I suppose idea was to have one of each Points, well you get all the points anyway so doesn't matter to me LOL
