  1. Last night I was playing a tank slugfest, which was labelled as Medium, with only 20 turns. If I stick to the scenario default, all of my armour was jammed to one road, and seven of my turns would be consumed just getting my strategy ready. ( I prefer hooking moves to attacking flanks). Is it cheesy to remove the stick to scenario default, and set up your tanks/armour in a more agreeable fashion? Up to now I have been sticking to the sceario defaults for setup, but I hate having to wait so long to get my armour in position. It's kinda like taking a flight sim and speeding up the time so that it doesnt take so long to get to the battle. Some people enjoy that planning phase etc... But I just dont have the patience to do it. I suppose this makes me a farb/non-grog/whatever.
  2. I can still remember when Baroness and Destro were caught making out, how totally strange. Stuka, we called them FIGURES not DOLLS! Even though, technically any object made in the likeness of a human being, only smaller is considered a DOLL, we boys referred to them as FIGURES okay!
  3. I think I am one of the only players who post and read the board more than I play. Which is a true testament to this community. This is a great place to get information on WW2. Thanks guys, gals.
  4. Here's a little tip for you: The words, War crime, and Joke never go together. Why not start of lightly like "ever seen this behavior in a game?" etc... It's all about the delivery.
  5. Just curious, and if they were, does anyone have a mod for it?
  6. Did the any of the branches of the DOD issue wrist watches to the enlistees, officers etc.. during the war? Just curious.
  7. I dont know, maybe because it's a GAME?
  8. This isnt the Real World, or Survivor. What were the soldaten hearing when they were in it?
  9. I grew up in Arlington, lived there for 24 years. I just moved to Richmond VA. Fugazi, if you grew up in DC you know it isnt an italian curse word/
  10. Check these links out regarding the possible use of exoskeletons in the future armed forces. http://www.darpa.mil/dso/thrust/md/Exoskeletons/index.html http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,41216,00.html Pretty interesting stuff
  11. My search results were few and not very promising. Since the community is obsessed with realism, why not create a mod for vehicles that have bullet pock marks, blast impacts etc? I currently use a mod for damaged buildings, and it adds more realism to the game.
  12. The worst one for me, DEUS EX. Overhyped, not that impressive to me. I will probably get flamed for saying it but oh well.
  13. Another good one was, Return Fire. I played this game against my brother on the playstation for many hours, and never got sick of it. Fun game, no realism, but fun, and that gentlemen, is the whole point. Isnt it?
  14. The Myth series by Bungie, before they were bought by Microjuggernaut. What an awesome physics engine.
  15. We use the Dell Trinitron P991 with all of our workstations at work. Real nice flat screens. Worth a look
  16. This place shines whenever a newby, or grog has a question. Keep up the good work guys. THIS place is dedicated tech support 24/7.
  17. How cool would it be to sit inside a tiger viewing from the slits while shooting up some apartment or some such object? Thought it could be sweet, Dungeon Master2 had this mode where you could assume the first person perspective of any of your minions, that is what gave me the idea.
  18. RAID Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. If you have NT4.0 or NT2000 Unix, and probably Linux you can install multiple Hard Drives and spread out your system files etc... There are two flavors: Disk Mirroring: This is done with two hard drives, if one fails, the "Mirror" immediately kicks on, and runs, while you go out and repair your original hard drive. The other option, is used with three hard drives: With this config. you can spread out the os, and files on your pc across three hard disks for improved read write speed. These cant be done in WIN98/95, only in NT etc.... Hope this helped
  19. Ive seen footage of wwII films showing tracer fire coming from tanks (.50's) bouncing off the street and buildings. The velocity of those bullets could easily penetrate walls, and destroy the interiors in a matter of seconds. Now imagine the devastation that a HE round, or nebelwerfer could cause! I say make the buildings go boom, but when they do, make em crumble, maybe spill outward onto the street etc...
  20. Hey fellas, I will try out both of your scenarios, if you will try out mine. I have one that I have been playing alot, and I hope you guys could Btest it. I will leave my email, maybe we could exchange the scenarios. In fact I am going to start a new thread about Newbie scenario makers. scooleen@steelservicesinc.com [This message has been edited by scooleen (edited 01-17-2001).]
  21. I've noticed that tanks will disappear into the water, and then re-appear on the bridge or bank, usually this happens only during a sound contact. Any thoughts on this? One more thing how do you display unit kill totals etc... Thanks.
  22. I tried to do the Hurtgen forest, December 1944. Obviousely I used alot of Pine, and scattered trees, but I couldnt figure out a way to allow a good balance of a heavy german push, against an ill prepared Allied front. After you make your maps, and select your units, how do you position them when the game starts so they all arent side by side across the back of the map? Thanks for your help.
  23. I have just started building scenarios. Yesterday I tried to create a Hurtgen Forest scenario, and it was terrible. Do you find that actually making a well balanced scenario is very difficult to do? Thanks.
  24. I want to play the game in a realistic way graphically speaking. That said, how does one turn off the flags, etc... and the words appearing on objects during the game. Finally where do I adjust the size ratios of the tanks and infantry. Finally, what is a troll?
