  1. Good point. However it does raise the question how important is the info as I assume other Kings also had a system. But did it require a King who understood the information and could make decisions based on it. In my wife's organisation [100000+], there are duff information systems and many managers who do not understand the limitations of the statistics gathered and just wing it. hey say in the time of the Raj the village headman would fill in returns with information that he thought the local Admistrator would like to hear.! : )
  2. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/28816321/the_great_american_bubble_machine May be a little over the top but on GS stacking the Govt http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/02/government-sachs-goldmans_n_210561.html
  3. Thanks very much for posting. Very emotive. I am impressed that you thought to go - the thought never ever has crossed my mind.
  4. I do invest but not in the US, adn I go for small technology plays so I am probably not suffering. However this rigging of the market with previewing is blatantly corruption of the system, NASDAQ - *******s. Capitalism is going to be getting an even worse rap as Joe Public gets educated on this.
  5. Affy Neither has the ability to pick which bunch of journos you want to hit or miss : ) Finesse is useful in crowd control. The US's new grenade launcher http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M320
  6. The advantages in keeping demonstrators cowed will of course become more attractive if there appears to be non-lethal solutions. I predict first non-combat use will be a G8 summit. : )
  7. Camo? I thought he had been paintballing : )
  8. This is getting very sci-fi http://www.gizmag.com/xm-25-us-army-smart-weapon/11807/ h
  9. Possibly because they are Swiss : ) Also the inventors call them simply Hang .....
  10. Nice Elmar - much more happy thought. I dont speak Dutch, and for that matter cannot read it either but I did recognise the word hoax. Shame, it would rally be something more impressive if it were really possible.
  11. I have just started playing HSGN Wittmans Last Battle by Enigma and the general briefing dates the battle to August 8th 1942! Typo!!! Typo!! Proof reading team zero points. There are others but I wondered what else had been done in scenarios - obviously historical ones are more likely to throw up a blooper than others. *Incidentally, and to ruin this thread, I found that two Tigers would rather shoot vanilla Shermans rather than Fireflies even when given targeting orders just so they can get a percent or two better chance of a hit. They only both died to the Firefly - which rather screws the historicity as German Tigers would always go fo Fireflies as a priority target in RL. So just bear in mind to always have a vanilla sacrificial Sherman out front whilst using your Firefly.
  12. A lot depends on how much you have to spend. And also the size of the map. Small map artillery is useful, large map useless. You do not say what are the parameters either which makes it very difficult to be that helpful. I normally play pick your own so have a reasonable idea after 100 games : ) But then I try to play 2000+, with causalties chosen, and huge maps. If you go US an d the Germans have a Tiger or two to blow your infantry out of cover there is no reasonable counter other than the TD and that is iffy proposition. I agree the infantry is better but the British can have the ValentineX, 6 and 17pdr to get cheap points killing a Tiger. Also the british 3" mortar is good value - but here again how lumpy the terrain is plus the woods can make a big difference in unit choice.
  13. http://teachertube.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=118&title=Did_You_Know___by_Karl_Fisch I love humour. BTW English words = 1,000,000,000 not 554,000. And I am going to love the ability of computers to understand nuance.
  14. Hang Drums sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9Bz-b6J-10 and Wiki tells you all about their recent invention and technical side http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_%28musical_instrument%29 play one on-line http://www.hangfan.co.uk/play-the-virtual-hang-drum-ehang.php how to build one http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-a-Hank-Drum/ and the Smoky Mt version Another neat instrument
  15. Yep, cheery thought. The only way out as I see it is a massive program of switching to green power. Actually it need not be green power simply something that employs a lot of people and has a ongoing benefit.
  16. He did provide real gravitas. I hope it highlights the present lack of respected figures.
  17. Very interesting http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2007/02/wwii-nazis-tank-manuals-unexpectedly.html
  18. for the HD trailer there is also some games filmed by players in action : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uhkiyLXs_c
  19. 600hp would hardly require quad-turbos. I see the Leopard is now up to 62 tons and 1479hp - my how it is grown over the decades.
