  1. Been ruminating on this possibility since RtV was announced. Been thinking about it hard since it was released. After I finished up the FI portraits it really started eating at me. So, I asked sburke to send me some RtV files the other day to do some testing. I actually gave up once and was gonna write him and tell him what I had been doing and that it had failed but I decided to try again. Still didn't get there and stopped. Figured I give it one more shot and all of a sudden....12 years of wishing is finally fixed. Not perfect but the best we've had since SF1 was released.

@Zveroboy1 You've got some updating to do.

@mjkerner yeah, you. something for you to try.

    @Sequoia it's finally happened.

I give you the Muj for SF2!

NOTE: They need to be modded. They aren't gonna be perfect. This was just a test to see if it could work. I need a better mask to get rid of the chin strap (anybody have one?). I just wanted to show you guys because I have wanted something like this since 2008 and I know some of you have too.

Gotta use you imagination and visualize what could be accomplished. These will by far be the best models we've had. Imagine colored head wraps, different colored beards, vests, etc. A lot can be done!

  2. The only time you can have multiple versions of a modded vehicle that will display correctly is if you have something loaded like Aris's tanks where the only difference between the textures is say a number or decal (like some Sherman's have). Different camo schemes or paint colors are gonna get randomly assigned all over the tanks/afvs etc. until they code the textures to where hull 1 only displays with turret 1.

  3. Modding CM is a very personal experience unique to each player based on their tastes. Some guys like fats chicks, some guys, redheads, and there's the odd sick b***** that prefers collies. The one thing most of can agree on is the first place to start is the UI. So, if you have the WWII games I suggest these:

I have no idea what games you own or don't own so one or more of these should do you.

Then you go overseas to a conflict zone and it's INSTANTLY and universally ditched.

LOL. And they were modded out of SF1 the second masking was figured out. I believe it was Angryson who came up with that simple yet beauty of a mod; no gas mask and crotch guard.

are the previously listed gear models in the SF2 game files just leftovers from the SF1 remake and thus incompatible for use with the new unit models,

Yeah, just leftovers. The brzs have a ton of clutter/trash from SF1 and can be VERY confusing if you aren't sure what you are looking for/at.

  5. Think I managed to knock out the entire Luftwaffe today. I am happy with everything so they should be keepers. Even managed the SS armor portrait. I collected the base pic from another forum back in October and have been dying to take a crack at it. I am SUPER happy with how it turned out. I REALLY love it.

Here's a preview of ALL the main Armor for CMBN (Bocage style background as in the American pics above).

As you can see there's NO argument that this new style was the way to go!

  6. This month isn't any different than the last decade for me. I am an introvert/homebody/loner. I've got enough interest to keep me occupied for another 200 years. More an observation on DC's modding duress and an insane undertaking.

  7. And by "damned thing" you of course meant:

"Martha, dear, you are the light of my life, apple of my eye, Cher to my Sonny, I've toiled long and hard these many months, not out of work but as an honest expression of the love I've bore for you since you accepted my unchaperoned invitation to the Missipaquatus Bicentennial Picnic Jamboree back in nineteen-hundred and seventy-six. Whenever you hang a saddle or better yet, udder mittens, in this hand hewn wooden palace of devotion , you will do so basking in the ever lasting joy that is the song that sings in my heart for thee."

Your secret is safe with us.  At least until you get those Goumirs done. We'll renegotiate your ability to sleep indoors when the time comes.

  8. Well, at least when they find you shot/stabbed/sliced/hung/stapled/stuffed with tic tacs/toes tied/sizzling in an electric bath they won't label it a suicide. Good news if you're Catholic! If Buddhist, Muslim, Zoroastrian, Hindu, Shinto, Taoist, Sikh,  Pagan, Wiccan, Atheist, Agnostic, Rastafarian, Satanist, Jedi, Klingon, or Furry...meh...is what it is.

    OMG, I need these...

Workin' the Mord balls to nubs (not that it takes much to get nubby. Hopefully that'll change with the warmer weather) to get these done. Got the Canadians/British/Polish completed since I posted that pic. Spent most of the day fighting with the Heer pics. I may or may not have keepers. I'll know once I look at them again tomorrow. Still got a long road with the rest of the Axis. So, if everything goes well, you shall have them hopefully before June.

The plan is to have US, French, and British gear and weapons available, and separate djellabas for military issue and tribal djellabas.

Djellabas Grogs the most insidious of the grog sub species (Latin: Djellabasus Grogerasus); known for creating mods of hairy faced men in glorified war pajamas while dodging construction jobs ordered by wives 8 months ago. Tread carefully those who post here, we don't know if or when he had his last cheese sandwich and whether that staple gun is loaded or just slung to his tool belt for the badassery effect.

P.S. Did I use that semicolon correctly? Please, tell me I did. I've been practicing really hard!

  11. Well, to hell with you guys! I shall continue believing that somewhere in the upper midwest there is a lady that creates finely crafted udder mittens for cows that exist only in my mind. And that there is a man building a room to house them in.  And that the cheddar produced by said imaginary cows is of a quality that starts trade wars between nations and neighbors. If you refuse me this you shall become my enemy.

What was confusing was there is a large number of folders in v1 and only 4 folders in v2.  eg: v2 has no "light target vehicle" WAV files.

Exactly. Because I needed the Allahu Akbars to be spread over all the various files to achieve the half-assed effect that SF1 would allow me. Now, instead of them screaming Allahu Akbar when they target (or anything else) they'll scream it when they score a hit (depending on the type of hit they may sound more excited). Ex: a hit that causes burning gets the loudest and most aggressive Allahu Akbars.

    3 hours ago, Erwin said:

Is this covered by one of the new folders in v2, or it's just not needed in CMSF2?

Not needed as per my previous explanations. Only the three folders with three separate file types are needed (the extra chatter files were just thrown in for the helluvit).

    3 hours ago, Erwin said:

Re the chatter folder you are saying that 0-42 are part of the original CMSF2 game install wav files?

    Yes.

I think it is something you need when you use horses instead of four wheelers......... :P

He's in Wis-khaaan-zen not Texas, it's probably a spot to hang the handmade udder mittens she crochets-up to winterize the cheese herd. I can picture him as we speak, munching curd balls while he screams at paintshop for mis-aligning his French overcoat texture.

  14. The Army/USMC mod has no connection to the Allah's Army mod. One is American voices the other Arabic.

I designed Allah's Army version 2 to replace version 1. When I originally designed version 1 it was for SF1 and there were no vehicle hit sound files whatsoever, so I had to sprinkle the Allahu Akbar screams throughout ALL the sound files or else you'd never hear them (however they were out of context). NOW that I've added in the vehicle hit sound files into SF2 you don't need version one. The context NOW fits because now they scream it when they actually hit/burn/blow something up/hit but do no damage instead of just screaming it randomly while running, walking etc.

I moved a lot of the chatter files to the "hit little effect" folder. You are not losing any sounds really, they've all just been moved around. Each folder has it's own unique files now, no repeats unless I made a mistake here and there (some sounds do sound similar). That way you always get different expressions (and emotional states) for different situations. If you want to experience the mod as intended delete what you have now and reinstall version 2. If you have insurgents screaming Allahu Akbar in every situation (with no context) it kinda ruins the uniqueness of the sound files.
