Remo, you gotta get the mods loaded on your wife's machine and con her out of it someway.
850MHz!!! She doesn't need that. All my wife does is log on to work and check email on hers.
As I said, load up some mods and bask in the glory. Once you go 'mod', the maps are closer to God.

Just a post to get rid of that dreaded "junior" status so that I might be as well-respected here as the others.
I agree with tailz, all questions should be appreciated. I also liked the bar analogy, and I have lurked and learned answers to more questions here than I ever thought of asking.

I was a Duck Hunter(ADA), US Army '91-94, hence my handle - HAWKMechanic(23R), then 6 years Intelligence Analyst(96B)in the Texas National Guard. Got to see more of Fort Hood than I cared for.
PFC as of last October.
Nice to see the global military entries here.
Ain't the Internet great?

Ahh, I remember now, thanks for the correction ASL Vet. That would make sense about the grenades. I was watching Thin Red Line again last night and thinking how running up any incline is no fun. Never mind the fact you are carrying 40 pounds or so of gear and being shot at.
Tanks to all for the responses.

Gosh! No 'do a search' no replies, no nothing!!
Does ANYONE have any input?
At least getting flamed doesn't make me feel invisible.
Is this thing on?

I know units firing from a higher elevation are more likely to hit the top armor of a vehicle, but I was wondering if the firepower of the attacker is numerically increased when they have a height advantage. I know some of you guys will be able to quote from the Squad Leader manuals, but I seem to remember that if an elevation difference of two or more contours exists, then the firepower was significantly increased. I am trying to remember this from '82-'83 so forgive me if I am off.
Bottom line -- how advantageous is an attack from a hillside, cliff, second story, etc?
-
Boy you asked an old question there. The "do a search" police may get you.
It is not possible to watch an entire game as one continuous movie, but I have seen alot of discussion on that. I agree it would be cool, but I would not want to be locked into one view as I mentioned above.
Just enjoy what we have at the moment, it is much better than any other alternative.
So how long do you think you will demo til you get the whole game?
-
The VCR method would work, but it would be very tedious and you lose the best part about CM movies, freedom of movement.
It would be like watching Saving Private Ryan or something. The only view you get is the directors'. I doubt we will ever see a CM entire game 'movie'.

Map Making does get frustrating. I too tried the neighborhood (I think everyone has).
I have been having problems getting the bridges correct, I raise and lower elevations on the ends, but it still doesn't look like the "professional" map bridges.
I know, guess I should do a search. My Christmas break starts at 5Pm todau, then I will have time.

Same here with the sharpshooters. It was a 700 point QB and they gave me three sharpshooters, all without ammo, still slaughtered the enemy though.
-
I always thought the CM group was more wise than your typical gamer. These ages prove that theory. At 33, I guess I fall into the median range.
Realized I was old while shooting pool one night and some guy was asking me, "Sir? Sir? Sir, do you know what time it is?" It took me awhile to register that he was talking to me. Started to feel old that evening.

I never realized how bad the originals were.
Yours look great! Where do we get them?

I learn something new every day.
I thought it meant units sold. Like in the recording industry. CM "Gone Gold" I thought they had sold X number of copies or had X number of pre-orders.
And here I was all happy wallowing in my ignorance.
Anyone know where I can read some more AARs?
-
I get the graphic hiccup also, but it is not only in CM, but other games as well. It started when I upgraded my old computer. I think it is the dreaded AMD / GeForce issue. I have an Athlon 700 with 128Ram & Leadtek Winfast Geforce DDR video. I have tried everything to fix it. Anything graphic intensive, i.e. Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Scrolling in CM, causes the hesitation. Very annoying, but I can live with it.
Looking forward to getting home and upgrading to the new version although MMAtt said it might be a tad slower than the final release.

I enjoy reading the AARs, but they seem to be in short supply. Are there anymore AArs out there to read. I find them very entertaining and educational.
Off for Turkey Day --
Lots of CM to be played!
-
And I like reading AARs, but I think I have read them all up. Where can I find some more? Anyone know?
-
Thanks for the insight gys. I guess I was so used to seeing a map in one screen shot.
I will definitely watch the movies this weekedn. It sounds interesting. They tend to frown on such things here at work. Besides, the cable modem is so much quicker than our lame network here.
Happy Hunting

So I am reading the lastest Close Terrain Defense AAR between Claymore and Fionn. I read one, then the other.
Do the maps look different to anyone else? Did something get mixed up somehow?
Are these two different battles?
Or, I may be mistaken.

Three years active US Army('91-'94) at Ft. Bliss, Texas. I was a HAWK missile mechanic (hence the nickname), CO's driver, and unit armorer.
After that, six years in the Texas National Guard (No-Gos) as an Intelligence Analyst. Just got out in October and my beard and hair are really growing now.

Hey Tom,
How about breaking that up into 10 zips or so, then loading them on an internet drive.
Xdrive.com or Driveway.com, for example. Share the folder and give out the password to whomever you wish to download it.
Sounds like alot of work, but I bet the gang would be very appreciative. Sounds like you are our only hope.

Yep, being a newbie, that mod sounds good.
Maybe one of those CM old-timers could tell us where to find Gunslinger's mod.
A little help here.

So now that you are without CM, whatever will you do.I guess you could always go back to the demo.
Were you fuming or crying when you found out?
Guess I should keep a better eye on mine.

Was it over when the AI bombed Reisberg?

Yeah, I want hear the guy scream "HEAD SHOT" and "DOMINATING" as in UT when I blast the turret of a Sherm.
I have looked ALL over the map and have yet to find a Med Pack.
Anybody want to sell their used copy of CM?

Before buying direct from BTS back in October, I checked EBay. Three fools were selling there games. Once the bids passed retail, I went ahead and ordered a "virgin" copy from BTS. Arrived a week later, been fightin' and dyin' and moddin' ever since.
I am not surprised there are none on EBay now.
