why can I never get them to post correctly on the first try?
frustration . . . . .

Here's a hero from a scenario on the disk. Some of you may recognize it.
This was the Tank Destroyer that could.
Note the early graphics and toolbar.
I guess I put him in a good location.

Dammit I used { instead of [.
Try again!
That should work!

Have you guys seen Mr. Nemeth's CG 3-D Models? Nice to look at. I wish he had more. I would like to get one for each vehicle in CM.

You can go check them out at
Work is done, a FAST move and HIDE at home in front of the computer again.

I have made several captures of a variety of troops. Some POW squads were even at 50% strength! The key is to outnumber them and surround them. When they rout and turn to run only to find more enemy troops, they usually give in. More than once though, I have seen my troops massacre the surrendering opponents, ala Saving Pvt. Ryan. Sometimes I guess Joe is too caught up in the heat of battle.
Last nite, I captured a Hetzer crew. I wanted them dead though. That Hetzer had survived 8 bazooka strikes, and wiped out a few of my guys.
When's CM2 coming out again?

Ok, second try.

I'll try this picture thing.
Did it work?

At the risk of being offensive to some.
What do Wal-Mart and Michael Jackson have in common?
They both have little boys' pants half off.
They're just jokes people, they won't hurt anyone.

I have folders for all the zipped mods I have downloaded - terrain/vehicles/bldgs/etc.
I just unzip and overwrite into the BMP directory. Since I save all the zipped mods, I can always revert, albeit with a little effort.
Haven't taken the time to try the Mod Manager, is it worth it?

I could not agree more HANS.
After some really great QBs, I would love to switch sides and play it again.
One other suggestion. When buying units, I would like a row on beneath points showing points available for the particular item.
Infantry Support Vehicles
Spent 100 50 104
Alotted 200 200 220
Remaining 100 150 116
You get the idea. Thing is, I am too lazy to do the math and see exactly what else I can afford to purchase in a particular category.

The QB generator is indeed a Godsend. I just wish there was a way to save every one (if you wanted to) and play from both sides. Sometimes after a particulary interesting battle, I would like to replay it from the other side and see how the AI handles the battle.
Another favorite thing . . .
seeing my Hummel obliterate troops and Shermans.

Papa Kahn..Papa Kahn, can't remember the rest of that song.
I sent you an email. I will send the file tonite when I get home.

Fascinating topic - what took it so long?
H.A.W.K. Homeing All-the-Way Killer
A medium range Air Defense missile
(now retired to National Guard and other countries military units)
and
MEK = mechanic
I was a 23R in the Army - HAWK Missile Systems Mechanic. Not very imaginative, but easy to remember and always available.
I also use my old D&D name Aquilon and Elric from the Michael Moorcock series.

I found that end sound annoying also. I put PFC Hudson (Bill Paxton) from Aliens on there saying, "Game Over, Man! Game Over!

Since the A*L Site is gone. Where are we to find the Mod and Unit Databases? I was a fool and did'nt download them when I had the opportunity. Can someone point me in the right direction or email me the spreadhseet?
Thanx again,
No anna Kournikova pics please!

Wow, I must be a lucky guy. During a couple of QBs vs. the AI this weekend, my squads performed well.
One had just sprinted across a field, took up a position and fired their AT weapon at a JeepMG scoring a kill immediately.
In another battle a German Mortar carrier stopped next to a bulding and my squad immediately turned, lobbed a few grenades, and Ko'd the half track.
I'll keep my eyes open for abnormally stubborn HTs.

It can be fatal if you suddenly see the yellow stripes on the highway and think you have been 'spotted'. Try not to swerve into oncoming traffic.

You are doing much better than I. I have also played it twice as the Americans and both times I was massacred. I kinda gave up after that. Maybe I'll fire it up again and try your 'Alamo' tactics. Then again maybe I will try playing as the Germans. It should be fun with all that armor.

I am in Austin, Texas and it took 7 days exctly to get mine. That was last October though, maybe BTS is swamped now more than ever. Shore hate it fer them guys waitin'.
Reminds me of the old Heinz ketchup commercial, "An-tic-a-paaa-aaa-tion".

IDF,
Mods do make a difference. Go to this site
www.afv-uk.net/cmoutpost/ and check out the mod comparisons between grass, tress, vehicles, unifomrs, etc. It shows you the original 'stock' graphics, and then the much improved mod from one of the great artist that ply their craft for Combat Mission.

To play music while the battle is going on, I gues you could replace the ambient sounds(birds chirping, distant artillery) with a wav file of your choice. That is strange Bruno, if you delete the 000005010.wav file altogether, it still plays off the CD? I'll try it tonite at home. See if I get the same results.
Happy gaming
-
Success!
The wav file 00005010 is stereo, not mono! I used windows sound recorder to convert it, and now it works. Got rid of that annoying intro music. I will probabaly get tired of this one eventually too, but at least I know how to change it now.
Bruno, are you sure your properties of the new file match that of the file you are replacing, Khz, bit rate, file format, etc?
-
I downloaded an mp3 to replace the starting music -- 000005010.wav or something. I converted it to wav format at 44,100KHz 16 bit MONO like all the other wav files.
It plays, but the speed is increased.
What am I leaving out? How can I fix that?
Thanks for the help.

I agree. Combat Missions has become a new favorite with me too. Quick loading, informative, and easily navigable. Gremlin's articles are great also. Beware older gamers -- get those reading glasses out because the font is pretty small. Or just hold the monitor at arms length.
Great site - Keep up the good work!
