  1. Check this out for a good discussion of gameyness. It should answer all of your questions.
  2. And posted on page 7 of this very MBT: If only I knew then how it would turn out...
  3. Well, the spectacle is complete. I can't say I'm sorry for the way it ended. And while many of you feel I did the pushing that sent the lad to his timely demise, I'd offer that it was more like a scene from a Shirley Jackson story, and I happened to toss the final stone. Regardless, every turd needs to be flushed else it stinks up the pot for the normal crappers. For those with interest in the flag, I'll post again when I have some solid information on it. For those who just come to see the show, well...I'm pleased you enjoyed it and will see that the next pillock-sodding pillock-sodder gets the same treatment. In Game Updates: Leeo reconstructs the infamous Charge of the Infirmed and Exhausted. I'm 2 or 3 moves from checkmate. Hiram is probably thinking he'll call arty in on the ambush that just toasted a platoon of his. I'm sure they'll just sit there waiting for it. Noba is now feeling the full brunt of the SturmCroda. Each squad that pops up is targetted by no less than 10 of my units. Naturally, they don't fare well under that kind of stress. Marlow are up my mortar units on Berli constructed map with an LOS of 6 inches. I remain unconcerned. UnderLizard and I are creating a big slugfest. My setup is about half complete and will continue when I continue it. Mace lives in Australia and never sent his cyber-forces to Europe to fight. As such, I still haven't seen him (small loss). Speedbump learned that when Greens have rocks thrown at them they take to ground like 2 ostriches who find they're wearing the same dress at an ostrich wedding. Terence awaits the SturmCroda. Just keep awaiting, it will come in due time. If I'm playing anyone else I forgot and will mock you after filling your anus with your headus.
  4. Ah, yes...the innocent victim mentality. "Well, you knew he was a bloody, merkin-wearing pillock so it's your fault because you riled him up." It's all so much clearer now. Thank you for pointing out the glaring deficiencies in my argument. Please do youself the favor of sewing your lips together and cutting off you fingers so that nobody else need be privy to your fountain of wisdom.
  5. There are places where civil discussion turns to less than civil discussion. After that is a place people don't tread, unless you're ICS of course in which case there are no rules, as evidenced by his 'unique' version of history as well as his quick trigger to attack lineage. Comment on me and my arguments - fair game. Past that and you've entered a different league.
  6. Oh I don't think so, methinks Croda is ticked off at ICS now. Looks like Croda loves to poke the wild animals with sticks but when they turn around and wack him back he can't take it. I take it that once you've finished 'baiting this bear' the next drooling cretin who wanders in will be the recipient of the same pack mentality accompanied by the usual 'heroic' mutual backslapping. "Major Chater-Jack: Milligan, we've just crossed the border into Tunisia. Milligan: Fine, sir, I'll carve a statue at once."</font>
  7. Easy squeezy! The red flag is for girl nazi's and the blue flag is for boy nazi's. Its true! I saw it on a cooking show hosted by a drunk Buddhist good luck charmer.</font>
  8. That's a great idea for TCP/IP or games against the AI, but you won't catch me trying that against a PBEMer who sends 1 turn a week!
  9. Doing some looking around. Check out the first item here. It's the same pattern however mine is most certainly a flag and not a standard, nor as ornate. (Let me know if I start posting more than anyone cares to read about this).
  10. 1. No. 2. Loads, but while not "must have" from a game performance standpoint, they are fantastic updates to all of the game's graphics. I'm sure people will point you to all sorts of great fan sites for the best ones. 3. The game rocks. If you love the tactical aspect of WWII, you'll love the game. I've gotten more playability out of this game than any other ever (except maybe for Super Tecmo Bowl). Your system specs are fine. Get the game, you won't be disappointed.
  11. Another confirmation, this one from the FOTW mailing list: He's still a bit stumped, but on the same page.
  12. Imagine me waking to that picture in my inbox! Sweet work, OGSF and you managed to do it without the Scottish accent. Very nice. I'm going to assume that the coloring on the flag in OGSF's picture is the same. Now mine (I'll have to measure) has to be the 8' variant. No bunting or anything. What conclusion can we draw considering the difference in this flag and the blue RLB one we saw? I assume that RLB was more or less a national group, so would this flag represent merely a local/regional chapter 'out-flagging' it's neighbors, or could perhaps a higher-up in the RLB have lived in the house the flag was taken from? Perhaps as an RLB 'official' he had stronger government ties. Or does anyone know anything further about the RLB? Very interesting indeed. [ February 27, 2002, 08:05 AM: Message edited by: Croda ]
  13. I do believe that Diceman (permanent name bolding to be determined) is now in need of a squirely joust. Are there any other Squires around? If not, I shall have to take one at which point they can both truly learn to suffer.
  14. Here's the first response from Rob at Flags of the World: So he basically confirmed all of the things that we 'supposed' yet we still don't know any more than we did before. I'll keep everyone posted.
  15. Thanks, Berli. I was thinking about the number of points on the background device, and was wondering if they correspond to the points of the compass. You've got your major 8 points plus some. 50 total if I counted correctly. Does that ring true to anyone?
  16. Egging him on...no. Letting him make an omelette of his idiocy...yes.
  17. I've sent the picture off to Flagspot. I'll post when (if) I hear from them. Perhaps I'll track down a Smithsonian contact if I can. On top of those, I'm open to suggestions for people to contact. There have been many sites posted here that I need to sort through. Many of them are redundant (though I appreciate the help anyway), and lead to what appear to be mirrors of the Flagspot site. To be truthful, I am kind of surprised to have something so obscure that no one has been able to label it with any defgree of certainty. Isn't Andreas around here somewhere? I figured he'd eat this up!
  18. Oh stop whinging. At least now I'll have time to win a PBEM before the next game comes out.</font>
  19. wbs - Check out this link for the 44th ID TO&E. You may or may not have seen it before. http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/documents/eto-ob/44ID-ETO.htm
  20. My new claim to fame is that ICS is going to get banned in a thread of my creation. Muahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa. J'aime bien cette vie.
  21. One more piece of information that may lead is in one particular direction is this: Rereading the part in his journal he states that he took the flag from the front of one of the houses they were billeted in. This would lead me to believe it is more of a civil service type of flag (police, fire, local gov't, etc.) than military based, however the coloring still seems to suggest a strong party affiliation to me. Well, just that little bit more to add. Thanks to all who've posted some really good stuff, and those who haven't, well...
