  1. On maps with large hills I prefer to put my tanks behind the top of hills. This guarantees nearly 100% Hull-Down position, from where I am able to take out the enemy's tanks without any serious losses. Then I start to supress the infantry and advance with some tanks and infantry to occupy the flags. Often they are already occupied by the enemy's forces, so I use my arty and support tanks to supress, and the advancing infantry and tanks to crush him...   3. I had some other weird thing. My Flak 37mm killed a Sherman with "weak-point-front-turret-penetration". I was very surprised, but also very happy of it. My PBEM-opponent wasn't that pleased of it Greez Pain ------------------ War is in my heart Death is by my side!
  4. Now I'm home! I've checked it out, it's called: "Battle Window Size" and it is in the Parameters-section of your editor. Try to raise its value equal to the width of your whole map.   5. Good idea, but if followed through the game would lose its purpose. It is designed as a tactical game, not a strategic one. And if you bring in the strategic level, you have to introduce the Allies' overwhelming advantages of material, airpower, etc., and the Germans' lack thereof. You would lose one fo the beauties of this game ... its balance. In CM, both sides can be fairly balanced, or the Germans can even have an advantage, because that was indeed the case in many engagements that occurred at the company-battalion level. Once you move beyond that level, then the Allies would have to be given major advantages for the campaign to be realistic ... and hence, the Germans would have little chance of winning. Which, to me, would make the game rather boring. Good points I must say. The only thing I missed in your statement is about "fictional scenarios". Why do the US-Troops have to be much numerous to the Germans? Why couldn't it be balanced? There should then be the option to edit the "strategic" map of the game. To create billions of possible "strategical-scenarios". The realism wouldn't be the same, I must agree, but fun is the main thing on the whole, isn't it? And fun is for me to have a complete "tactical-strategical-wargame". Maybe I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one... (OK, I have stolen this one from John Lennon's "Imagine". Don't soe me for this one ) Oh yeah, Tiger, I absolutely agree with your opinion to CC. I liked CC3 the most.   6. I'm waiting for this game almost for a year... they did not want me for closed-beta So I hope on the soon release of the game. An other good online-war-game would be Planetside.   7. Is the whole thing a battle or an operation? If it is an operation I would say, that you have set something wrong in the parameters-section of the editor.   8. CM is great, no discussion. But the main problem of the game is, that the operations just aren't long enough. In other words: I would like to see something like real campaings, where I have battlegroups of divisional size, or even bigger. A complete map of Europe, from France to Germany or Italy. Where I have to secure reinforcement routes, occupy airfields for better airpower on the field, where I have to cut off enemy's battlegroups from support etc. This is sort of a feature which would do well for CM2 or an update for CM (if this is possible).   9. In one of my last PBEm-battles I was on German, the enemy on British. With his challenger he took out all my tanks including a Hetzer and a Tiger... I don't have to say, that I was getting really annoyed about this. That was the day I began to fear the Challenger. Greez Pain ------------------ War is in my heart Death is by my side!

  14. Now that I think about it...I think it might also be cool to have smoke generated from builing explosions. This might simulate the dust storm caused by the debris. It would only have to last like 2 turns, and I think it would be a pretty nice feature as well. Also it would be nice, if some fires expand. Especially when it burns in woods or from building to building. Also cool would be, if the debris of exploding buildings are realistic modelled: every shrapnel which is shown could be lethal... depending on the material... I quess now it gets to complicatet...   15. Yeah, just look what size the Sturmgruppe-Platoon of the Waffen-SS has! 13 men each squad. That's really a lot. No other sqaud in the whole game has as much as this one (so I believe) And you can trust me: They kick ass! Just test them in PBEM.   16. But I can set the amount of points for both Attacker and Defender when I do start a quick battle. Does it affect the set points in any way, when I choose probe/attack ?   18. Sorry about your secret Pak40, but I gonna try it out in my next PBEM game... The split I usually do, when assaulting an enemy's strongpoint. From one platoon I take a squad to hide, while the rest of the troops (including the remaining squad [with higher fire power]) do some area fire for cover the approach of the "assault-squad". After one or two rounds of area fire I attack with the "assault-squad". This works very fine to capture some of the enemy's troops.   19. Hey, just a tip. Save it a second time in a separate directory. I already killed some of my own scenarios, because of overwriting and stuff... can be really annoying doing the same scenario three times. Greez Pain ------------------ War is in my heart Death is by my side!
  20. The best way to use armor is first to send out the infantry for spotting the enemy. Your tanks should be well hidden behind woods, houses or hills. When you see them move the armor in a hull down position, behind the top of a hill would be great for this. With this tactic you will wipe out even a Tiger-Company ------------------ War is in my heart Death is by my side!

  22. I had this situation: My Jagdtiger gets bogged in in snow. Then the status was "bogged". After several rounds the tanks didn't move and wasn't hit, but then the status was "immobile". Does that mean, the crew did not success in freeing the tank? ------------------ War is in my heart Death is by my side!

  24. My opinion is to combinate both. I use the mortar to destroy light vehicles or halftracks, and the arty to kill Infantry in buildings or woods. So I usually (with 2000 points to spend) pick 3 mortars and 2 Arty guys, put them in a good position (top of a large building for example) where I can see the target and wait for the enemy. In most cases I call in the arty strike before I can see the enemy and correct the fire later to the enemy's position. ------------------ War is in my heart Death is by my side!
  25. So the hide command would do fine in a wooden area or city to build up an ambush or somethin like this. Am I right or what? Or is this bulls*** because my tank won't fire if LOS available? Greez ------------------ War is in my heart Death is by my side!
