1. Hi again, I'm in the midst of creating a new battle, and I was wondering if it was possible to control the EXACT location of reinforcements? Also, I've ran into a little problem with railroad tracks that cross a river. Instead of the track tile, I used the wooden bridge over the water, but I sunk the terrain it spans by 2 elevation levels, so that the track/ bridge appears near "flush" with the water. Now however, I've created a problem- the water now dips into a slope around the bridge (I have even seen troops travel through this anamoly- it considers the unit on a slope). In the scenario All or Nothing the railroad tracks that cross the water don't have this anomoly, and I was wondering how the developer got around the problem of the slopes that are created. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot for any help! ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
2. Hi again, I'm in the midst of creating a battle, and I need reinforcements to appear at a certain point on the map... Is this possible... or do I simply have no control over this issue? Thanks for your help! ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
3. Just a question, what was supposed to be fixed? The duplication of land mines etc, or the fact that I'm allowed to start my Setup Phase while my opponent is purchasing units? No can do with the saved game file... I deleted that when the game ended... In future, I'll make sure that I save it. Both users currently have version 1.12 installed, though one player is playing from a "spawned" version for TCP/IP purposes... Was this bug reported in earlier versions of CM? Keep me posted, and I'll make sure if it happens again, to save the file... Thanks for your time... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow [This message has been edited by Suicides-by-Steve (edited 02-26-2001).]
4. I have tried to delibrately run down troops, but alas to no avail! It's highly unfortunate (especially when your tanks gun is damaged), but I suppose infantry are infinitely more mobile... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
5. Hi again folks... Just a quick question. Which of the MODS out there are the best, and why? So far I have the MDMP1&2, fire and explosion7, a sound MOD and a couple others. I was debating whether the sky MODS where worthwhile, and any others that are MUST haves! Thanks in advance! ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
6. Okay, I had a wierd anomaly the other day while playing TCP/IP. I started the game, and while waiting for my opponent I'm allowed to begin placing my units! Why is that, I get the advantage for starting the game? Besides this though, I purchased some antitank mines, antipersonnel mines and barbed wire. Placing these as usual, after the game started I noticed duplicate copies of said defensive fortifications (in their ORIGINAL starting positions as well as the ones I placed), and units that passed throught the ones I placed, seemed to have no discernable effect... Now, my opponent could see the barbed wire (but not the "duplicate" wire in it's original starting placement)... but again, when his troops ran through the mine fields I placed, nothing happened. So I have a few questions then... Are minefields automatically visable from the outset of the game? How much damage do they inflict? And, finally why were duplicate fortification units created(is this a bug I should be reporting)? It's only happened once, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for it to happen again... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
7. I was just wondering if there is any benefits to blind targeting another unit(not in direct line of sight), while hunting or moving? Is this unit predisposed to be targeted over any other units, or will the targeting unit still hunt as normal, and lock onto the first or best target spotted? Also, how come I can target with a 60mm mortar unit, when it clearly says that I can't if it(the unit) or the HQ in command, can't see the target. The targeting path sticks, but no mortars are fired during the action phase- strange... Thanks in advance... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
8. Ummm- we already have a day where we're supposed to go out and thank a veteran- it's called Rememberance Day in Canada, and Veteren's day in the States- Lest we forget... *sigh* What's next- Normandy Landing day?! ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
9. "Did you read the long note BTS posted last week about the upcoming patch? It was pretty clear." No- if I did I wouldn't be asking now would I? ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
10. I have read a few threads, but it's hard to piece together what is happening exactly- is a demo w/ TCP/IP going to be released before the patch for TCP/IP or what? Are there going to be compatibility issues? Is it a beta release? How come CM 2 and TCP/IP are mentioned in the same paragraph without CM being mentioned in the same quote? Just some questions that I hope you's guys don't mind answering... Thanks in advance. ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
11. Hi, and thanks again in advance. I need somebody to explain to me the various subtleties between the different Battle Type options in CM Quick Battle mode. ASSUALT, ATTACK, PROBE, and MEETING ENGAGEMENT. Cheers... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
12.
quote:
Originally posted by Bruno Weiss: Yep, far as I know. One "*", means the building is damaged. Two "**", means you better hope a crow don't poop on it or someone's gonna have a headache.

That's prime- needed that laugh! ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
13. I just noticed something the other day while playing CM- in the "LOCATED in..." box(in this case... Building) there where asterisks besides the (Building*) or (Building**). Does this represent structual integrity (in that case is 2 asterisks worse than one)? Or some far more sinister implications LOL? Thanks in advance... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
14. Well, of course if you play as the Axis...you'd have to kill them or capture them- it would make for good fun- imagine it's near the end of the game, you destroyed your opponent- but wait! A lone APV makes a break from behind a building and is making a beeline for the refugees- SPLAT!! Oh no you've just lost 20 points, because of that careless mistake... LOL ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
15. Maybe I should clarify that... by the term "Refugee train", I mean bands of refugees following a roadway or some such... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
16. You know what would be really cool?- How about refugee trains that you have to protect as they attempt to exit off the map... having a moving "unit" that you'd have to protect would not only be cool, but realistic as well... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
17. "well, thats probably pretty realistic"[/red] Sorry Degrees of Frost I should have clarified a bit better. Try setting up a mixed vehicle assortment on a road, now watch as all the different speeds of all the different vehicles don't coincide with one another. In no time flat, you'll have a bottleneck of armour. Haven't your drivers every heard of something called brakes?! In CM, there is no FOLLOW command (which is sorely needed). ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
18. A terrain editor that allow for jungle, desert and urban warfare etc., with the appropriate unit modifiers for such climes (running while in the desert tires your units quicker, immobolization happens more often in a jungle). EAX support; and the ability to allow users to make engine mods so that this same great engine can be used to play Warhammer 40k and Modern day warsgames... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
19. Know what really gets me? Try moving a column of armour while it's pissing rain out, therefore forcing you to take the roads only. Now try moving 10-15 different units up the same road. It becomes a logistical nightmare... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
20. Well, just an observation- yes- CM was done on a Mac (and with good reason- the graphical rendering capabilities surpass a PC); however, I would bet everything I own that more copies of CM have been shipped as PC versions of the game over the Mac versions. Failure to support or ignore such a large userbase is an exercise in stupidity, just because the Mac doesn't support EAX doesn't mean EVERYBODY should be without. Chances are, the EAX feature could be implemented with just a few lines of code... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
21. Well, considering EAX is standardized for the most part, I imagine he would only be helping the majority. The biggest flaw in this game is the lack of surround sound support. Considering there are sound cards being released that house 5.1 Dolby digital ready hardware, I think it's about time that BTS gets on the bandwagon... and realize that sound as well as the gameplay makes up a great game. ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
22. When is somebody going to develop an EAX patch for CM? I for one would LOVE to hear the horrors of war coming from all five of my speakers. Thanks for any info in advance...
23. Thanks! ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
24. Has anybody have a problem with system lock-ups? I just installed a few mods, and now my game locked up for the first time. Is this a common issue with mods, or does the game just like to do that every so often? Thanks in advance.... ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
25. Does anybody know what the .bmf files are that I need to replace off hand? ------------------ "Childhood's over the moment you know you're going to die." -The Crow
