1. LOL I don't have hardware issues. Now, I may have software compatibility issues mind you...
2. Well, before you get your panties in a knot, Vergeltungswaffe, I never said I would NEVER play the game again, I simply stated that I didn't want to play it in it's present condition? Do you object to my choice of free will? No, I don't think the game is finished- and by the sounds of it, some people here agree with me. Nothing personal to you Vergeltungswaffe, but at least I know I'm playing an alpha version with D3- I never expected to be a beta tester for CMBB however. And before I just delete the folder, where is the documentation that says I should just remove the folder? Which page in the manual? Since there's no proper index, I can't even look it up.
3. Okay, I have to say that I am so glad I didn't buy this game... I would have been sorely pissed indeed. As it is, I'm simply disappointed. While I enjoyed immensely CMBO, this game feels like it's a cross between a rush job, and a cut and paste. I love the new commands, don't get me wrong, but this just stinks overall. It was released a couple months too early I think for my liking. I was ambivilent about the demo I should have stuck with my initial impressions. I could learn to appreciate the micromanagement even... if it wasn't for some of the bugs in this game. A couple times, I have not been able to select units, or add/remove bases for whatever reasons. I can get the info, and it says the bases are on, but I get no selection boxes nor bases. Reboot the game... no problems. What's with the index in the manual as well? There is already a Table of Contents at the beginning, do we really need another at the end? Minor gripes indeed, but I could go on with the minor gripes- this equals a mess in my opinion. Graphical scale is another problem I have. Why does it look like half the Tankers are 2 sizes too big for their tanks? Take a look at the Somua S-35. 3 people can fit in there? The tank CO looks like he's oozing out of the turret as is. Where the hell are the other two? Even if they are prone, there's not nearly enough room to fit the graphical representations of the soldiers in there. Now, here comes the clincher- and the part that makes me furious. Where the hell is the uninstall option? I can sit and wait for the much needed patches- but the only option I have to remove this game is in the add/remove files option in Control Panel. The trouble is- I think it wants to remove CMBO as well- since thats my only option. There is no CMBB file listed. Pathetic! I'll wait for the patches, but as it is- I don't want this game on my machine until it gets patched... A few commands and a few graphical touches don't warrent the price of a whole new game in my opinion. Anyway, despite my rant- can anybody tell me how to remove this game from my machine? I have the leaked alpha version of Doom 3 I'm dying to play, but I need some room first.
4. Get your hands on Powerstrip. It's a small program that by hitting Ctrl + Alt + Numpad + or - allows you to fine tune your brightness settings. It was a godsend for me while playing BF1942... [ November 03, 2002, 09:26 AM: Message edited by: Suicides-by-Steve ]
5. LOL- Aww F*CK! A blind man could beat the Germans playing the Russians in that scenario. In the tutorial- I CREAMED the germans both times I played it (NFOW and EFOW), hands down- which is better than some here can say! LOL Man, you almost got me there though- I was stoked to give you a go for a second- until I realised you wanted to play as the Russians. Play it vice-versa- you're on! LOL
6. It is in the game, it's just not an explicit command. It only works when the vehicle is 50m or closer to the infantry unit. Select any movement command and place the cursor on the vehicle you want followed. You should get an on-screen message that says "Follow vehicle." It is very similar to how you embark infantry onto vehicles. Ace
7. No- I don't need the camera positions recorded during the game. I just need the troop and unit positions recorded. During the replay, you'd have the freedom to follow exactly who you wanted, while there would (ideally) be options to allow you to follow your opponent as well. That way you could track your M4 that racked up those 20 kills, or the squad that only has 1 troop left at the end of the game that pulled off the MOST heroic reversal of fortune you had ever seen. Still waiting...
8. Well, it's not that it's far more complex so much- it's maybe just the fact that the demographic and Western Front is more appealing to me. But you're right- it is familiar to me, and until I get the full game of CMBB, I really can't compare the two. I'm sure glad you can though after only playing the demo! LOL
9. Thanks for your answers. Nice to know there will be other countries represented. Again, I don't want to practice with Conscripts- no interest there, so I don't know how many times I'll be playing the Battles as the Russians. Russians were also frequently shot by their superiors for turning tail and running. Which reminds me since were on that broad topic of Russian tactics... Is there a Scorched Earth button? For size of the maps- I like to play the maps with the units set to realistic. However, I find that many of the textures in the demo tend to swallow the unit bases- especially the craters. Also, since some of the maps are SO big, trying to view the entire battle as a whole, in order to understand what is going on, is thwarted when attempting to see what tracers are going where and is a pain. Again MrSpkr- It's the LACK of command that is more annoying to me for now- but again, nothing that a Quick Battle game can't rectify. 10. Good god no! That's something I don't want to do. I NEED to be in control. Thay Yemenia Stare map totally was a turn off. Again, if I get the game, it'll be when I wanna practice up on my Panther firing tactics, in a QB game. The majority of the scenarios I just can't see playing as the Ruskies. I hear T-34's make good target practice. As well, once all the mods start hitting the web, it should be a much better thing all around (not that the demo looks bad- just too similar to CMBO).
11. Argg! Hee hee, I really wanted one though... Also needed, yet not sure if the game has it- a vehicle follow command)*sniff* However, I am still a Doubting Thomas with this game- too big of maps (naking it harder to locate vehicles- and I know all the short-cuts thanks), apparently no international mix of allies, loads of chickensh*t troops who run at the drop of a hat (I hate maicromanagement), and a readme file that doesn't work so I can't figure out if this is a game I want or just to maybe stick with the so far (to me) superior CMBO. If I do purchase the game (I do like the marked improvements mind you), I can only see myself playing as the much more techinally superior, disciplined Germans. I like to remain in control of my men, not the debacle that is the Yemenia Stare map- yuck!
12. I like CMBO better... The larger battlefields make scrolling across the fields too much of a chore (not to mention finding troops etc.). New commands are okay. I'll need to experiment some more.
13. Pillar- I do have something strange to report with these glasses. I brought them over to my friends last night, and two things occuried. 1- I had to use the adapter to hook the dongle up to the monitor, 2- There was a horrible flickering, where the glasses would stop "shuttering" between left and right, creating a near unplayable environment. OpFlash look nice though when it did work. This problem was so bad, that I thought my glasses had given up the ghost, but when I got back home, they work fine... Hmmm... Good luck, I hope you can find a pair that works.
14. Well, what you're saying doesn't sound like the product I'm using. The 3D effect for CM is AWESOME; as well, the interface is crystal clear on my end. It's like playing a tabletop game. Keep in mind that the effect varies from product to product. E-D glasses are "supposedly" top of the line, and it shows for most games. I can't speak for any other product you may have tried... I have heard though that some are worse than others. [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Suicides-by-Steve ]

15. Okay- here's a review I posted for it...Mike Lewis' review. The general gist of the review states that most games work great with the product, while some don't work at all. Out of the 6 or so games I have played- 4 worked fabulously. In the single player demo of Medal of Honour... I found myself removing the targeting reticule in favour of intuitively running and gunning (point and shoot like you would in real life). Since the game is in 3D- there's no need for a reticule used mainly to target objects in a 2D world. The BAR looked awesome, and I don't know how long it is in real-life, but in the game it appeared to be around a metre or so (maybe more but the sniper rifle was REALLY long- not overly so, but it conveyed a feeling of cumbersomeness- neat indeed)... the effect was convincing, and I blasted Nazi after Nazi with it. Thief played GREAT, with clipping happening while close to walls, but no biggy. Combat mission was sweet- very convincing; a racing game called Rally Trophy, while having great 3D car effects, didn't seem to have a great amount of 3D detail in the background- however playing with the hotkeys may make some difference (and the replays were just like watching a rally race in life). A good- all around product- just make sure you pay for the cheaper $69 (US) version Wired pair. If you're a die hard gamer, the battery expense may build up. I would post pics and screenshots of my 3D forays into Combat Mission, but unfortunately, what good would that do...? All I can say though is getting into a hull down position has never been easier... [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Suicides-by-Steve ] [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Suicides-by-Steve ]

16. Just wanted to say this product: E-Dimensional Glasses, rock while playing Combat Mission. Talk about seeing the map the way a bird does. Half the time, the vehicles I'm veiwing, are sticking their ass end OUT of my screen, while the other half is occupied by moving my head to dodge incoming fire, and marvelling at the great depth of the horizon- 5 stars while playing CM in Stereoscopic, as well, the topography is so easy to judge in 3D. The only downfalls with viewing this game in stereoscopic, is that the pointer is only 2D- thus making it hard to select units- however, during my planning phase, I toggle the glasses off in order to plot my moves, and then watch the Action Phase in 3D. Very cool! [ 01-05-2002: Message edited by: Suicides-by-Steve ]

18. Looks sweet- but I'm having trouble tracking it down (actually, I want to know where to download it from and who the designer is)! Thanks again! [ 10-12-2001: Message edited by: Suicides-by-Steve ]
19. But, I've seen a mod for the LOS ruler... Hmmm, I would have thought they would have hard-coded that as well. My idea was to make the tracer fire more luminescent, kinda day-glo-ish! Too bad... 8( Thanks anyways! [ 10-05-2001: Message edited by: Suicides-by-Steve ]
20. I'm looking for the bitmap file that renders the tracers from weapons fire visible- I've looked through most BMP's, but so far no luck. I need both the tracers and shells... Thanks again, guys!

22. Hi, I just installed the bergman_t8_sturoo_hr.zip pack. In other words, the Stuart Kangaroo and something called a T8 Combat car. Trouble is I have the Stuarts looking all prim and proper, yet I can't seem to locate the T8 (which looks similiar to the Roo, but has a mounted machine gun. What am I missing? BTW- is this Bergman guy still around- excellent work! I enjoy the easy of exchanging textures with the batch files. Anyway, here's a pic of what I'm looking for: Thanks!
23.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: I wouldn't play a QB without the BER. It really adds to the game. It can drive you nuts too, when you're trying to hold VLs. What it does is cause the flag rushes to occur earlier. How early depends on how you set the BER. I like +/- 4 turns. The flags still tend to get rushed, but they then have to be held. I've not used the BER for canned scenarios, although there are some I have played where I wish I had used it. Try it. You'll like it!!

I concur... a really neat feature, and worth the puny download time.
24. Well, me and Steve have had words regarding the validity of the BTS business model and the release of CM2, but I need your help regardless with this idiot at this addy... http://forums.consumerreview.com/crforum?viewall@207.TTINaCfqhb5^4@.eea308b Show him that CM is a great game regardless, and nothing (including X-Com) can over throw this game...
