  2. Ahhhhhh, Slappy, Slappy, Slappy. You're opinion of yourself knows no bounds. The presumption that you somehow are the messiah to the "common person" is breathless. Yet you also consider yourself the embodiement of the intelligentsia who is beyond the reach of the common man in terms of their ability to match it with you on an intellectual bebating basis. To quote you from the Flipping Tanks thread in the General Forum To think that only the likes of Jeff Heideman, an acknowledged intelligent and well regarded individual can be your equal in a discussion smacks of pure elitism and self aggrandisement. There, I believe the first piece of evidence from a witness for the prosecution has been made. Regards Jim R.</font>

  4. Actually, it does not look like it will be needed. My attorney Noba pointed out that a lynch mob does not an accusor make. We await discovery under Australian law, and lacking any discovery, then charges must be dropped by the crown as unsupported. With the added bonus that the lynch mob would then face the ire of the Pool in toto the next time the decided to come out and shout down the opposition. 5. Well, as Giles Corey of this strange drama, I can definitely say that my defense council Noba has his work cut out for him. Reverend Parris has already shown up in the form of this Riechman sot, while the rest of the Australian branch of the Society Against the Expression of Free Thought are not the type to show their faces in public, although I am sure that Abigail Williams and Ruth Putnam are the mode they follow. Certainly if you think hard enough, you could also perhaps cast Dorosh as Goody Nurse, and maybe Seanachi as Reverend John Hale. My suggestion is that the "hate Slapdragon" group be relegated to the same bin that the Klu Klux Klan and the Ayran Brotherhood are. Certainly their intellectual achievements rival this group, and in many ways when they get their dander up, their behavior has much in common. As was pointed out to me in a very funny note, the more that these sorts don't like me, the more my stock rises with the common person. It is sort of like being hated by the Hitler Youth. If they get their panties in a bunch each time you speak, then you are most definitely doing something right. [ May 13, 2002, 10:17 AM: Message edited by: Slapdragon ]

  7. It should be put more realistically. Do people want the BA-7, T-26, Italiian and Hungarian tanks, all of which actually served, or the E-100, Panther II, and Maus, which did not. In the limited development time, weapons will be dropped for lack of time. The M-16 was sadly dropped from CM:BO. I personally would like to see the less sexy but more historically accurate weapons get in. Even the JS-III has more reason to be in than those other tanks since it was rolling around the ruins of Berlin, even if the amount of combat it got into was in question. It was issued to front line units and ready to go.
  8. This is great. I wish we could modify the top down view to show ASL chits. It would bring back old times.
  9. The Russians were the ones who kept their AT rifles past all "Use By" dates on the labels.
  10. You could make almost anything up, and Superted would never figure it out.
  11. Almost as much as Pennsylvania. A state so boring that the only thing they could find to name it after was some fop with a land grant.

  13. I was wrong to think that I'd win an argument with a woman by relying upon logic and reasoning. You married guys out there might think about this. The word "marital" means a state of matrimony and the word "martial" means a state of war. Coincidence? Joe</font>
  14. Yes, my direct (well, offset, there is a family tree of his direct desendents at VMI and his direct family was all females) relative was indeed a southern general. He also was a college professor. His students all hated him. His troops one day up and shot him as he returned from a recon (I suspect that he was likely out to the loo and they just tidied that bit of family history up). Just to make Lars happy The Jackson Family Tree 1966 (Des Moines) - Me 1946 (Des Moines) - Dad, US Navy. BA University of South Florida 1981. Farmer, Engineer, and now a store keeper. 1898 (Spencer, Iowa)- G-dad, BA University of Washington. Forester, Insurance salesman, travelling banjo player, and farmer. 1881 (Dodge CITY, IA) GG-Dad. Sgt Iowa Volunteers (51sy) in Phillipines. Captive for short time. Farmer, preacher. 1860 (Alexandria, VA) GGG-Dad. Moved to Ohio later Iowa and started farming. (Lots of relatives in Civil War on both sides). 1828 (Alexandria, VA) GGGG-Dad. Was cousin to Virginia Jacksons that included Uncle / Cousin / Nephew Thomas Jackson, who was later killed in the battle of the Wilderness by his own troops. Possibly VMI graduate. Was a plantation owner and absentee land lord. Held Slaves, and listed them with his last name rather than slave names. Died most probably Cold Harbor, although the records are slim. Date of birth is estimated. That has some give in it because Thomas Nelson (b. 1860) was rather foot loose and was possible married more than once, and because the Civil War scattered the family records aand the family in all of its branches, far and wide. Also the family in the 1820s until the Civil War was rather large, and no generation had less than 6 kids surviving until adulthood until my father and my generation. GGGG-Dad Robert McQeuen Jackson is the toughest case, since he was well off, has land, roads, and even towns named after him, but the Civil War almost completely erased him. 15. Noba you git. The Peng Challenge Thread is being made fun of in a completely inane thread: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=002863;p=3#000056 While you are still doing the squire thing, I think I would like to order you to go to that thread, defend the honor of the MBT, then insult your liege in a way that shows your true contempt for me, realizing that no matter what you say I am releasing you once you win this battle.
  16. Ahh Seanachai , keeper of the hoky cow's milk udders and general lame human being. When you speak of Florida from when you were just out of school (1951? or are you not as old as you look) you know not what it is like now. Wall to wall houses. Occasional crack dealers. Tourists in multi-colored beach wear. So now my man, send me my turn and my taunt. I hape you did not fail to see the taunt I left you.
  17. Persephone You visited Orlando and did not even visit my parents little tourest shop. I am outraged. And Lorak, I will miss being able to clean the floors with you like you were Dorosh (Does he get a bold? Perhaps I should invite him into clan Berli). By the way, I am soon going to invite every bad mannered person I know into the cesspool, seems only right and fitting.
  18. Poor Lorak has male and female mixed up again. That is a female officer, not even a full deputy. I guess that sort of confusion may anger the wife but probably made the central asian republics a bit easier to deal with on cold nights. Care to rebut? 5000 point attacks accepted COD.
  19. You can also have a tank, being hit by weapons which in the comfort of our own homes, we know are nonlethal and never will, causing crew bailouts in real life. Some losses of German heavies were caused by getting pounded by a large number of smaller tanks. The tank technically survives the pounding, but the crew "breaks" amd flews the pounding.
  20. Horrors. I will be related to Boo-addled ! Or some poor sap. It's hard to remember whom sucks up to whom around here sometimes. Noba.</font>
  21. I am doing a great deal of studying of the battles around Kharkov in preparation for writing scenarios with the release of the longed for CM:BB. Kharkov, as my Ukrainian sources tell me, was a lynch pin as a rail hub, road hub, major city, communications nexus, and for its political value to the Ukrainians. It also, if you look at it, sits midway between the two major river obstacles in the Ukraine.
  22. Win that battle, and then post some amusing screen shots, my dear Noba, and I see you advancing to the ranks of knight as a member of Clan Berli
