  1. How about putting all the Love/Hate political nonsense in the General Discussion Forum,or create a "Political" Forum for everyone into knocking heads and beating their proud chests, and leave these Forums to the discussion of this great game and military strategies and tactics. The Forum topics are quite clear.I dont know if the moderators have the capability to move irrelevent or off topic posts..Maybe just deleting them is the answer.. Soldiers dont start wars Politicians do.
  2. Im playing the AI,,Haven't tried E-mail yet..
  3. How large is the 1.05 patch file?(the one i downloaded is 1.66).And if it is an executable file and not a zip, shouldnt it have that Tank icon..This is the second time in a row that I was not able to Load it..I have 1.03 running fine, but cant get 1.04 or 1.05 to work.
  4. Panzer Meyer kicked some serious Allied Booty and lived to tell the tale...Long Live the 88..where would Rommel be without it???
  5. I had a Puma right on top of a MG in a Foxhole and nothing happened..
  6. Hey,,Im glad I started this post,,and I'm Playing Butgenbach now and I have no arty !!!!!! Oh well...Next scenario...
  7. I'm at turn 25...I have an overwhelming force at the first Building..The Americans are attacking and getting beaten back badly...I have a small armored force driving down the main road..and a large infantry force making a flanking movement around the left side..It appears that the Americans are constantly being reinforced..and I have seen no Armor..The score is lopsided in their favor yet they are getting Hammered...My losses are Minimal so far..
  8. I'm around turn 20 now and only two tanks were lost in the mud..I realized that the road is the only way to go and found that I have to use "move" in short spurts or else the damn AI will shoot my Armor across the mud and get stuck. This also happened in a Snow scenario as well..I have most of my troops at the first Building and the Allies are counterattacking ..My lead MKIV knocked out a halftrack..And the second arty barrage knocked out a Panthers main gun and wiped out 3 squads ...I hope there is no more of that..So far it has been fun.But its still early. And I see a large American force at the next Building..Looks ominous.
  9. Thanks,,I believe the file size was much smaller ,which would dictate that the file cut off before it was finished dowloading..And yes it had that DOS look..I will download it again..
  10. crumply, I had the same problem as you..A dos icon and a message said not a windows app...But I downloaded it from the main site..I guess I have to try again..
  11. Any ideas..Did what it said..Hit Shift and dragged it into the CM folder like I did for the 1.03 patch..only it didnt have th same Little Tank logo (it had that Dos look)...When I tried to run it ,it said it wasnt a Windows application...
  12. If the spotter is within radio range of HQ,the HQ can act as the spotters eyes,,I have done this with the Mortars already and it works..But does the effectiveness change?? Probably..I will try the "hide" method next.
  13. I agree, and I already posted my story..In yeaghers farm,,The spotter is on a hilltop a good 1100 meters from the Germans AT guns. After I destroyed one AT gun I set my sights on the second. This time I positioned myself from the viewpoint of the AT gun to see how they reacted to the barrage (which was awesome)..Once The game started again they turned their gun directly on my spotter..How on earth could they possibly have known he was there..?? They didnt choose any of the surrounding individual platoon leaders or machine gunners, just the spotter..Fortunately he survived the barrage...In my opinion they should be much much harder to see by the AI..
  14. I have not created a scenario yet,,but perhaps making a crew members point value higher than a Grunts might make gameplayers think twice b4 serving them up to cannon fodder.By having them rush up to a tank to distract it,while they make a flanking move with a more powerful force is highly unrealistic..If this isnt corrected I agree with the others..Eliminate them or put a bandage on their heads and have them walk off to the rear like zombies..I also beleive the AI would change its thinking if it saw another Tank and move its gun,,but by then it may be too late.
  15. I am in the middle of this scenario now..And I had read a lot on this amazing battle as well.(also created a scenario for SPI for Novastar). So far the scenario has not played out like I thought it would..The Allies arty has been very light..My only real losses being two tanks stuck in the mud. I have not encountered any AT guns or Allied Armor yet but I know its there,somewhere..As for bugs,I am using 1.03 and in the background is a long green patch of lights..Being a night scenario it really stands out..Also I never checked the fog of war setting and played it at designers settings, but it appears every Allied position pops up after turn 2...That kind of ruins the sense of dread up ahead..I know where just about every Joe is ..If u play it make sure you Play with fog of war on..There is no way The Germans could see all those Men in the dark...I'll keep u posted as to how it plays out..
  16. I have always preferred The Western Front,But being a fan of Armor Warfare I cant help but get excited over CM2.The Battle of Kursk will be an Armor Lovers Nirvana. The fighting in Stalingrad will also be awesome.Being an American Of German Heritage I will just have to march on Moscow and take it this time around.Just have to remember to bring my Wool Coat and Boots.
  17. That was my gripe b4..I had a driver ko'd and the halftrack just sat in the road the rest of the game..Why cant Other crews join the team and get back into action..I can understand not doing it for Tanks..But unless the vehicle,or Gun is actually destroyed why not ?...Remember in Steel Panthers when the Gun crews would flee from arty...Then come back later and do the job..? Just want to make the great game even better..
  18. Wonderful Scenario..Cuts to the chase..I wish you didnt have all my Shermans Brewed up at the start..Kinda spoiled the fun..But My arty spotter almost ruined the Germans day.Took out every AT Gun.I almost had em but I Just couldnt take out the second Panther..But it was damn challenging and fun.I cant see playing it again though cos I know what to do now..Unless I try night or snow.
  19. I was talking about those poor souls who were blown out of their halftracks and are just walking around aimlessly..I had a half track whose driver bought it..so it just sat there.(Like the "Shocked" state)..now if there was a way for the crews to "join" each other they could have gotten back into action..Lets put the injured guy in the back seat..or leave him for the medic..
  20. How important are these guys...They can easily change the outcome of a battle..My only suggestion is that they should be harder to spot..How can a tank or cannon over a 1000 meters away see a spotter hiding in bushes,or peeking thru a window?..Also,why cant crew members link up and create full halftracks again..I can understand Tank crews being left out to dry,but there would be nothing wrong with the half track crews hppking up and getting back into action..I had one crew member knocked out and the vehicle was pretty much useless after that..Just a few little things to make a great game even better..
  21. (correction) I meant lenghty scenarios, not operations.sorry............................never mind..please delete... [This message has been edited by Panzer Man (edited 08-18-2000).]
  22. I was playing the Wiltz scenario as the Americans..And really thought I was doomed. There was a Panther,Hetzer,Stug and Marder as well as numerous half tracks and Paratroopers only a few Hundred Meters from my Positions.I had my 105 spotter in a Building pouring in the Shells with little impact..Then all of a sudden a Bazooka man knocked out the Panther,a shell landed in the brush causing a Fire, men started running around like mad,,another shell hit the top of the Stug, destroying it and a nearby Halftrack as well.In a matter of 5 seconds the German attack was all but over.I thought that Close Combat was better at first,,maybe in a sense of sheer excitement it is still, but Combat Mission is more realistic. You really get to feel the entire scope of Combat on a tactical level.I have only played a few scenarios and still have a lot to learn but I am truly impressed...A definite classic.
